New avatar. Herbie Hancock.

I think this may be the avatar that most closely matches my user title. Since "Say 'dance,' sucka" is from an electro-funk tune ("Renegades of Funk" by Afrika Bambaataa and the Soulsonic Force), and Herbie Hancock did some electro-funk stuff in the 80s (If you've never heard the song "Rockit," you really need to get ahold of it).
our schools jazz band, i play bass, play chameleon fairly often, great song though i have unfortunately heard nothing else by herbie hancock, care to enlighten me as to what i should get/hear?

wheelz 02-10-2005 02:06 AM
You can play Rock It on Amplitude for PS2. It's actually really fun. The last few songs on insane difficulty kick my ass though.
I love that someone else owns amplitude.

I'm reeeeeal good at that game :)

Electrocution 02-10-2005 03:17 PM

I'm going to Madrid in March. Pretty exciting.

Zappa 02-10-2005 04:59 PM

Today was a strange day, man.

YDload 02-10-2005 05:00 PM

Tell us about it, Zapp.

wheelz 02-10-2005 05:01 PM

it was real strange for me too.

coincidence? probably.

Zappa 02-10-2005 05:05 PM

Well, I was hella offended in English class today. I'm in Honors American Lit., you see, and today they allowed some college students to come in and give us a lesson on poetry. First, we were instructed to write down the name of someone near us, and write a word to describe them on each line. This is an exercise I remember doing in 6th grade. After that, we were broken down into smaller groups with college students for each group. My group had two, and one of them was a real winner. A 5th year senior, aspiring gym teacher who has switched majors 3 times now, he explained to us that he knows nothing about poetry. When we were in small groups, the activity basically consisted of reading two poems, one from each of our two college mentors. Mister winner brought us a poem entitled "Exercise!," which he found on FUNNYPOEMS.COM. It had a spelling mistake, and was one of the worst poems I have ever read in my life. I just don't understand how something like this can happen. What is wrong with education?

Iai 02-10-2005 05:12 PM

I had to re-read that a few times, because I'm so used to describing people I like as 'winners', and I didn't catch your irony.

I was planning to download Planet Rock from you pretty soon. I'd be happy to review it.

Zappa 02-10-2005 05:13 PM

Is that a regional thing? I thought "winner" was pretty much always used to describe someone you really view as a "loser."

YDload 02-10-2005 05:13 PM
stupid kid
He probably went to college on an athletic scholarship. You're lucky he didn't walk into class all freaked out yelling "Nerds! Nerds everywhere!" and cowering in the fetal position.

Zappa 02-10-2005 05:14 PM

Actually, he said that NMU (the college in my town) is the only college that would accept him. Apparently he did terribly on the ACT.

Iai 02-10-2005 05:20 PM
Is that a regional thing? I thought "winner" was pretty much always used to describe someone you really view as a "loser."
I think it may well be just my group of friends.

It went from -
'You fail', to
'You fail at life', to
'You can be a winner at the game of life', which is an advert jingle over here, to
'You winner.'

We have hand signals for it and everything.

/random

On another notr, your avatar really reminds me of ?uestlove.

Zappa 02-10-2005 05:33 PM

Well, it's Herbie. His spaceship is a keyboard, cause he's a bad mother****er.

YDload 02-10-2005 05:33 PM

It's true: Zappa has not had a bad avatar since I first showed up, and he was the "mx boglin."

What the hell was that thing anyway?

pixiesfanyo 02-10-2005 05:35 PM

I had Zappa's eye as an avatar once.

Zappa 02-10-2005 05:36 PM

It was a boglin. Named Dwork.

Iai 02-10-2005 06:42 PM

He's a Circle.

Thus he 'takes' us, or something.

Electrocution 02-10-2005 06:45 PM

Or he's just not straight...

Zing!

Electrocution 02-10-2005 06:47 PM

I just found out that my friends house burnt down and another friend had to put his cat to sleep. Oh yeah, another friend's stepbrother died on sunday. What a good week this is turning out to be.

Wanker 02-10-2005 06:58 PM

I died today.

pixiesfanyo 02-10-2005 07:07 PM

hahahaha Wanker, I love you.

pikester 02-10-2005 07:11 PM

I lived today.

Just for a bit though.

YDload 02-10-2005 07:13 PM

The day I tried to live
I stole a thousand beggars' change
And gave it to the rich.
