Winnipeg has a public smoking law. Hm.

Roger_Waters 06-29-2006 12:32 PM
in Toronto we just have horrendous anti-smoking laws; at the moment you can only smoke outside and in your own house, but they're trying to SOMEHOW think of a way to ban smoking inside any building with a roof (including personal property). Can't smoke at bars, in restaurants, anything
They don't seem horrendous to me, I quite like them

I'd love to see how they'll enforce that one...

just ban the sale of cigarettes.

(*The Noonward Race*) 06-29-2006 12:35 PM

haha you'd want an entire city to go cold turkey on nicotine at once ?

kurrpt'd 06-29-2006 12:36 PM

well, i get weed illegally. If i have to do the same with cigarettes, so be it

Father_Jack 06-29-2006 12:36 PM

Hey guys, can't be arsed starting a new thread for this really so... I have been doing alot of bluesy improv lately, but then when it comes to solos in anything else it usually comes out bluesy as well. So just wondering if any of you could upload some of your favourite rock/metal backing tracks. The ones on guitar bt are pretty hit and miss, and half of them don't tell you what key they are in.

Cheers.

But then you'd turn the cigarette industry into what is now the illegal drug industry. There would be little towards nothing in the way of regulation or control, crime would then increase as there would have to be new laws brought in over the dramatic increase in the now illegal cigarette trade.

Its simple economics as to why that will not at this point in time work.
Cutting off legal supply will not stop demand.

kurrpt'd 06-29-2006 12:40 PM

i dont see how the draw the line with smoking tbh. I do worse things, that are more detrimental to my health everyday than lighting up about 7 times a day.

Amit 06-29-2006 01:01 PM

smoking will become unpopular to the point of a mere triviality

JoshIsNumber3 06-29-2006 01:02 PM

Just like popped collars

:upset:

Nick 06-29-2006 01:04 PM

sup

do any of you guys have a decent jazz fake book in pdf that you could upload?

I've come to the conclusion that before I'm able to get my head around this stuff I'm going to need to see how it's applied and learn the songs

but I can't be bothered to go out and get an actual printed one

and I don't really want to drop $40 on one

nvm I'm dling on limewire

I_go_by_mikee 06-29-2006 01:10 PM

sup guys.

Dave Matthews Band last night was pretty awesome, such a long concert though.

JoshIsNumber3 06-29-2006 01:16 PM

Yeah, a lot of people don't realize they are not a pop single band but a quasi-jam band.

what again 06-29-2006 01:17 PM

haha if all america bans smoking then american economy will go down like paris hilton haha

kurrpt'd 06-29-2006 01:18 PM

Serious mate, supply and demand, its not gonna work.

JoshIsNumber3 06-29-2006 01:36 PM
not at once, i would say i'm banning the sale of cigarettes in 3 months, you have 3 months to give up
Yeah because if you ban something, that means people are going to stop.

Let's see, the beginning steps to outlaw marijuana began almost 70 years ago.

Everyone stopped using it!

kurrpt'd 06-29-2006 01:36 PM

how exactly does the world improve by non-smoking. If anything, the smog coming from the major cities would have a greater impact.

Yea josh...

I am SOOOOOOoooooooo not sitting on an ounce at my house as we speak

<_<

>_>

nope, that aint me

Roger_Waters 06-29-2006 01:37 PM
Serious mate, supply and demand, its not gonna work.
i'd prob end up do it gradually, but I would make it happen ('it' being everything I feel that would make this world a better place)

overturned 06-29-2006 01:39 PM

Yeah but theres a difference between gradually phasing out certain things than providing an out right ban
