I could say something really rude right here, but I won't. ;)
Go ahead. I don't think my post opened itself up to rude comments, so I'm intrigued. |

I'll upload it if you want, but it's by KMK :-\
Holy hell, I just stumbled across a goofy gold mine: someone on the network is sharing all the Bud Light commercials where they make fun of people (Mr. Giant Foam Finger Guy, Mr. Rental Bowling Shoe Giver Outter, etc.). Should I get them? It almost seems pointless, but those commercials are hysterical. |

Oh, here were those songs I promised:

The reason why I like "What's Golden" so much is that it was the Pistons' theme song for the playoffs, where they punched the Lakers right in the mouth  I know a lot of the NBA fans here are anti-'Stons, but I wanted to say that. |
I've refl'd at the Mr. Cargo Pants Inventor man one like a million times.
I dare you to get em, Jom. Do you dare me to pee my pants? |
Speaking of J5, I am going to do a Rap FG later this week. I just need to get this project done, first. :/
|
Ah yes, Detroit. Where "Foul on Wallace" is a figure of speech.
Boston Celtics: 16 Championships Detroit Pistons: 3 Boston Red Sox: 6 World Series Championships Detroit Tigers: 4 New England Patriots: Three Super Bowls in four years Detroit Lions: self-explanatory /got really defensive for no reason at all |
Yes! Rap FG. I'm excited for it. In other news my roommate's still a douche but I have 2 weeks of school left, unlike some people here. I don't understand my homework and I feel like a moron. The Handmaiden's Tale by Margaret Atwood is a good book, especially for assigned reading. A Farewell to Kings is a great CD.
|
Ray, everytime I read your usertitle I think to myself "I've got two turn tables and a microphone".
Did you want to help with the FG? If not, I can see if Iai has any input. |
Question for those knowledgeable about... current music and such:
I'm scanning the network for new music to listen to, and the following albums caught my eye: Chevelle's "Point #1" Brand New's "Deja Entendu" David Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust..." I'll edit the list as I move along. Are the albums I've seen worth getting off the network?
Get Bowie and Brand New, I don't know anything about that Chevelle album, tho. |

Jom-Point #1 is my favorite Chevelle material. |

1) That's the idea 2) I could help. I'm not swamped so I can get it going. How are we going to go about it?
The Handmaiden's Tale by Margaret Atwood is a good book, especially for assigned reading.
 Absolutely one of the worst books I have ever read. AH: I like Ziggy Stardust but I don't like Brand New or Chevelle
Boston: Funny accent Detroit-KISS!!
Boston: Birthplace of the American Revolution, Sam Adams (the man and the brew), New England clam chowdah, "Cheers", the Kennedys, and uh...racial riots Detroit: The coney, and uh...racial riots Let's not try to compare cultural impact here |
Boston: Funny accent
Detroit-KISS!! Jom-Point #1 is my favorite Chevelle material.
And Taproot, and Eminem, and Kid Rock, and The White Stripes... :-\ And Bob Seger, and Ted Nugent, and Red Tree = :) Thanks for the input, Jake and ATM (edit: and Ray just now). I'm still editing in that list. |

Well crap. I was just about to join the International Socialist Organization, but after joining the DSA I can't afford a $20/month membership fee.

Dialated Peoples - Cool album, my favorite track from it is Worst Comes to Worst D/l that as well.
I thought we could start with "Old School" (KRS-One, Eric B. and Rakim, Grandmaster Flash) into "East Coast" (Beastie Boys, Biz Markie, Will Smith) and "West Coast" (NWA, Ice-T) And then there was The Chronic, which seperated G-Funk (Dre, Pac, Snoop Dogg) from East Coast Gangsta (Biggie Smalls, Nas, Jay-Z, Mobb Deep, Wu-Tang Clan, DMX) I'm not too well-versed on new school, so you can fill me in there.
I like it. It's the second best one I've read this year under Frankenstein.
Why, god, why? One of the most unreadable books ever. |

I can handle that section. Don't forget about Run DMC, De La Soul, Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane, Gangstarr, and A Tribe Called Quest. |

Obviously. I typed that list up in like ten seconds. I didn't even remember to put Public Enemy.
I better see MC Hammer somewhere in that profile too
Well, when I talk about the Great Rap Depression (1989-1992, I reckon) he'll obviously be up there with Young MC and Vanilla Ice and their ilk. Hammer>Rap :p Well keep in mind I'm an angsty 19 year old with the minset of a two year old, so it works out about right. |
I also fear that I may spend too much time yapping about the 2Pac/Biggie feud, which is just about the biggest rivalry of the past quarter century.
EDIT: The Rap/Hip-Hop FG will certainly be longer than the Pop-Punk one  But Rap is a far vaster (is that a word?) genre |
If you may, please comment on the following (just a band denotes all their albums are on the network, album titles denote me inquiring about said album):
The Mars Volta Smashing Pumpkins The Dog And Everything (who?) Motion City Soundtrack "American Idiot" (I keep hearing good and bad... honestly, which is it) "Once" Any QOTSA besides "Lullabies..." "Getting Away With Murder" "The End of Heartache" "Point #1" "Deja Entendu" "The College Dropout" (I listened to this already, it was good, but the n-bomb still makes me uneasy) Glassjaw (Eh...) I had this entire list, but I forgot to copy/paste it, so it's extremely abridged. I'll be looking at Sputnik for reviews as well. Thanks for the help. Oh, and if anyone has any other suggestions for me, suggest away, and I'll look to see if they are on the network. ATM: please include Atmosphere in your FG (a) |
