I think I've figured out who I'm going to kill.

My sisters asswipe friend.

I was attracted to his girlfriend. Was. He's manage to get her to stop showering for weeks at a time, and she's gained nearly 100 Ibs. because of him. She thinks it's cute when he blows ass, she thinks the fact that his feet stink so bad that it clears an entire room out is sexy, and she thinks that the fact he treats her like shit is just fuck-diddly-wonderful.

So I'm going to kill him.

Or, not really. But I might if I ever get bored enough.

I do like her sister. She's a total recluse. She has no friends, and the only thing she does all day is work and sit in her room, read, and look out the window. I've never even heard her speak, and I've only seen her out of the house once.

Brokensticks 12-22-2006 06:00 PM

Exciting.

Anyways, I'm going to play Friend Scene-It tonight with a bunch of friends ha.

Friends is the greatest T.V show ever. It's the dvd game about it. Should be fun.

Jezen 12-22-2006 06:15 PM

I think i've almost finished my kit. The only thing I really want (aside from less permanent things like sticks or heads) is a pedal mounted cowbell, which I might buy for xmas.
I don't know how i'm gonna get my hi-hat legs out of the way though...

I may have to buy a dogbone or something. I really don't want to though..

Pleaseme 12-22-2006 06:35 PM

So Iron Maiden were AMAZING!
Just got back from Earls Court, London, it was such a good gig. Even though I was seated in the block behind the pit, it was still cool as I had the best view of all (except for the very front of the pit, where a few of my mates were  )

Trivium sucked, and had a bottle of piss thrown at them, and their 'vocalist' had a hissy fit over it. Granted it was fairly harsh to them, but still. Everyone was shouting 'trivium suck, get off maidens stage!'.

Then Maiden started off their full album run through, and got to the end of their second song before a crew member ran out and said something to Bruce, and Bruce announced the following:
'As you know, Earls Court holds a no smoking policy. It has come to our attention that some of our gear is breaching this policy, and by breaching I mean it is on fire.'

Much cheering and applause at this point. I think most people thought it was a joke, but the entire band went and sat on the drum riser for about 20 minutes, while Bruce pranced around the stage with a megaphone, singing christmas songs.
Turns out the power supply feeding the entire sound system had actually melted. You would've though they would check before the gig that it could handle the power demand, eh?
Anyway they went on, and finished with Fear of the Dark and Hallowed be thy Name.

Maniac, weren't you at this gig?

Little Android Man 12-22-2006 09:16 PM

i feel bad for Trivium... lol

Josiah 12-22-2006 09:21 PM

Haha ya that sucks big time.

I got some new marching sticks.

Little Android Man 12-22-2006 09:26 PM

what kind?

Electric Requiem 12-22-2006 09:27 PM

I just finished watching R30 and Al Di Meola: Live at Montreux
good stuff.

Little Android Man 12-22-2006 09:45 PM

Jos, i just wanted to let you know that today, i went to the music store, and went on a search for the "rudimental Cookbook" that you suggested to me, and those bastards didnt have it!

im going to have to just bring syncopation to my families this break to pass the time instead, though, i was looking forward to some new stuff..

Josiah 12-22-2006 09:47 PM

Ohh bummer. Well there's a ton of various rudimental stuff you could print out all over the web. RudimentalDrumming.com has a TON of stuff, check out the excerise section and print some, or write some stuff out!

I grabbed a pair of Jay Wanamakers. I picked based on feel/playing and didn't notice the name on the end til after. They are VicFirth, though VF doesn't have anything on their site, supposedly a new product though *shrug*

Very close to the MS2's, but a big ball tip and maybe a touch shorter.

Little Android Man 12-22-2006 09:56 PM

ima gunna check that site out..

you know what sticks i looked at today, the Buddy Rich sig sticks. they were VERY nice. i absolutely loved the feel of them. i had never tried them before, and was amazed on how much i liked them.

but unfortunately, christmas so close, i didnt wanna buy a pair, because i know im getting like 20 new pairs.

500th post!!- i got from 400 to 500 in 2 days, i feel accomplished.

Josiah 12-22-2006 09:58 PM

haha nice!!

Yea, the buddy rich are a unique stick, I don't think that's the type of stick he played with though. IMO, having watched a lot of his playing.

The Jay Wanamakers are marching sticks of course. There's a ton of rad drumset sticks, I wish I could afford just a big rack with a bunch of different kinds and some different marching sticks too.

Haha would be so rad to have that!

Oh well...

Little Android Man 12-22-2006 10:04 PM

like have a whole stick store next to your drums.
something for every occasion.

unique they are, the tips on those sticks are very odd, but i like that :)

Josiah 12-22-2006 10:10 PM

Ya, it's more like a non-tip

Little Android Man 12-22-2006 10:17 PM

couldnt have said it better myself.

So Jos, im just looking for another opinion on this matter.\

so i am getting a new crash, and i would like it to be a zildjian, to expand my brand horizons, since as of now i have paragongs all around and a wuhan splash.

so i was between the k custom hybrid 17" and the A fast 16"

so today at the store, i tried the fast crash, and i did not like it very much, it was, too.. thin for my liking.. and they did not have the hybrid in stock so i couldnt test it.

so just looking for another opinion on the subject matter.

Josiah 12-22-2006 10:20 PM

Try out tons of crashes.. there's such a difference between those models. Just go around blindfolded and smack stuff if you have too.

And once you do find a cymbal you like, try and get 3+ versions of the same size/model in front of you to try out. Cymbals are all different, even within their own line.

Be sure to be using Your sticks when testing cymbals, and it's perfectly fine to bring some of your own cymbals with you to see how they blend into your 'cymbal' mix.

Little Android Man 12-22-2006 10:27 PM

well, the thing is, i really dont want to "blend"

i need some diversity in my kit.

i was thinking more along the lines of a jazz crash, so that why i was looking at the k custom, but ive heard a lot about the fast crash, that it was supposedly good, but i had no particular liking for it.

Josiah 12-22-2006 10:28 PM

When talking about high end cymbals, all are "good" and just as much "bad". They are all high end cymbals, it's just what other people like or don't like you are hearing about.

Little Android Man 12-22-2006 10:32 PM

i was very mad that they didnt have the hybrid in stock though... i was looking forward to trying that one out. i tried the ride out, but i thought my paragon sounded 5 times better, IMO.

but, if it comes to me just hitting random cymbals to get the one i want, then ill do it, because im anxious :)

drummguy731 12-22-2006 10:40 PM

Hybrids are awesome man, so are Fasts, go try 'em out! :thumb:

Josiah 12-22-2006 10:41 PM

You should buy what your ears like really... who cares what the brand.

There just happen to be brands and lines within those brands, who stand out to the majority of players as what "good" cymbal sounds should be like.

drummguy731 12-22-2006 10:46 PM

It's all about preferance man!!!! :thumb:

Little Android Man 12-22-2006 10:49 PM

thnx man, this helped, im definately just going to take a trip on day for cymbals, and just sit in the store all day, annoy the clerks, until i find the prefect crash.

once i get this new crash, im gunna change my set up to a jazz style.

i really cant wait, ive just had the same setup, and cymbals for quit some time, so im very excited for a change.

drummguy731 12-22-2006 10:50 PM

New cymbals is always fun stuff

Little Android Man 12-22-2006 11:06 PM

you can say that again, i remember when i got my paragons.

happiest day of my life.

TheBigMachine 12-22-2006 11:06 PM

Definatley.

So I want to play jazz.

No one in this town can teach me jazz effectively. Because nobody plays it. Should I wait a year 'till I get to Adelaide, or should I get some kind of book/dvd?

Futuro 12-22-2006 11:13 PM

Start listening to it.... You will probably just pick up the stuff. when I immersed myself in alot of Jazz fusion I noticed me just ripping off peoples licks, then I wouldmake them my own.

Little Android Man 12-22-2006 11:15 PM

I want to start up jazz too.
im going back to lessons for it though.

Josiah 12-22-2006 11:15 PM

i dunno what adelaide is..

Yes!! Dont' wait for anyone else to learn! There's TONS of great jazz books, for starters grab 'Advanced Techniques for the Modern Drummer' and 'The Art of Bop'

drummguy731 12-22-2006 11:17 PM

Nobody in your town plays jazz?!?!?!?!? O.o What's happened to the world today?

Little Android Man 12-22-2006 11:17 PM

this is also another reason i was looking into a jazz style type crash, other than diversity.
