The cut off point is usually in November. My sister was born in early December and they wouldn't let her start Kindergarden until the next year, even though she could already read and write.

Haha, I went to a really progressive school in NC. They figured that if I could pass the tests and keep up with the class I could go on with school...and when we moved, the other schools just figured I'd fail out one year and they'd hold me back, but it never happened.

People would speak in English to her, and kinda look at me funny, and not bother at all with me because obviously I'm European and don't speak English or Japanese.
