I got a graphing calculator for my graphing calculator course.
It's the most confusing thing I've ever seen in my life. I don't even know what half of the buttons on the regular TI-30XA mean and I've used the same one since 6th grade. This thing is insane. =/ Edit: Good night.
you mean you never used a graphing calc in High School? Man, either you were in ****ty math or you had to do a lot by hand. Practically all my math classes required usage of a graphing calc. |
My classes used a decent amount of graphing. Half of it was standard deviaton, though. That stuff was super easy. I got 95% on my math 30 diploma, with 100% on the long answer part.
|
^I just did grade 10, and I barely needed the thing. Like ever..
I couldn't drive to the mall today, which is gay. Why the hell do I hvae my license if I can't drive? Like.. it's complete ****. Also, the mall=west edmonton mall. |
I was in the stupid math classes. Graphing calculators were only needed for Algebra II and above. I barely passed Geometry, which is why I'm just taking a class about programming and playing with the calculator, rather than doing actual math.
Math is terrible. I see no point or motivation behind it. I'm emotional tonight. I think I'm going to get my period. =/ |
West Edmonton Mall is awesome. Even though I never spend more than $40 there in a day, it's a fun place to be.
Derryk, next time you're there, go trade your money in at stores for pennies, then sit at the Booster Juice (that's on the "planks" by the pirate ship) and throw pennies at the bell. You'll know which one. Me and my friend did that for an hour one day, with like $8 in pennies. It was great fun. Bet money on it. |
I like math, but I'm not terribly good at it. A lady got mad at me and my friends tonight for lighting fireworks. We also had this sparkler fight (those spark-y candles) where we just threw like bunches of 5 at eachother. It was actually pretty fun, because it was so dark, all you could see was the grass in front of you, and a bunch of sparks flying through the air. They're hella hard to light up though, I burnt my thumb gradually from having to hold a lighter so long.
West ed isn't THAT great, if you live here. It's kind of boring. But yeah, that sounds like moderate fun. Me and my friend made a bet that I couldn't spray him with one of those boats when he was sitting at CinnZeo (right besides Booster Juice) once, but the bell thing sounds ridiculously expensive for pennies. |
Half the fun is going into stores, not buying anything, and just asking to buy a roll of pennies. You get some weird looks.
|
Haha. When I went to Quebec, me and this guy kept going into stores and pissing off people. Asking stupid questions, stealing these little cosmetic items from say, Sport Chek, like a plastic plant, and trying to buy them.
Stores at the mall just aren't as fun.. I don't know why. I like the mini golf though, Professor Wems. Have you seen it/especially the 18th hole? |
sparklers own.
i finally quit maths. the best i'm ever going to achieve for it is a B at GCSE level. |
I like the mini golf though, Professor Wems. Have you seen it/especially the 18th hole?
Man I hate the mini golf there. Apparently the glow in the dark mini golf somewhere in the mall is really good, but I've never done it. I went with my cousin one time, and he jumped into the "pool" right beside the boat, from the second story. I waited on the bottom level, helped him out, then gave him his clothes (that he had just bought) so he could go run to a bathroom and change into them. It was pretty cool. |
math is dumb in highschool because of the way they teach it....well they teach everything pretty badly in public schools.
its all just memorizing equations that are never fully explained as to how they work. i like math and it can be really fun/interesting the higher up you get. you can start to express ideas with numbers and say things with math. it is a language, and its not taught that way in highschool. most things in physics, and about how the universe works are discovered through math first, and then actualy physicaly discovered later. ever read books on physics explaining things? (check out "fabric of the cosmos" or "elegant universe" by braine greene). all the explinations are just translating math into words. math is really intereting, but not how they teach it in highschool. |
You know at Prof. Wem's, how they have the rods you use to fish your ball out of the water? Well you can extend that up the 18th hole, and just dump your ball in. It's fun.
The glow in the dark is above Bourbon Street, right beside what used to be "Reds". Btw- they changed the name to "ed's" and all they did was take off an R on the outside of the building.. You can still see the outline, it offers mild amusement. The diving sounds awesome though. A guy died in there once, doing laps. The guard saw him and thought he was a good swimmer so he left him there. Sparkler FIGHTS are fun. |
Oh god. I was looking at videos of Lamb of God's (yes I know other bands do it too) Wall of Death, and I came across this one. The preview pic had a nice big gap, it looked real promising. Turns out it's a bunch of 12 year old kids.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ru-R4umABU&mode=related&search= It happens at 0:46. Listen for the screams of the terrified pre-teens. Oh god. I've watched this 20 times atleast. |
hehe I watched snakes on a place last night. It's funny more than anything. It was pretty crap, just one of those fun films, or rather stupid ones.
|
Just bought Funkadelic-Maggot Brain.
Best CD ever. I swear to god. |
Ew.
I did 4 years of math, barely passed Precalc/Trig. Had I been forced into Calculus this year, I would've died. Like majorly. Oh man. Last night I was at the clothing exchange [2nd hand shop...theres like 3 or 4 of 'em around here], and I got the COOLEST HOMECOMING DRESS EVER. Even though homecoming isn't for another month. It was so random --- the best thing in the store, and it fits like. Perfectly. And it had never been worn, either; it still had the original $65 price tag on it. I got it for $20. Then me and my friends went to the salvation army and I got shoes that matched perfectly for $1.75. Haha. I'm so excited. I hope someone asks me >< |

I actually liked it alot. I mean, the premise kinda makes it what it is, but they didn't do such a bad job with it. |
Haha.
I swore not to see that movie. Ever. |
Sunshine what grade are you going in to?
My sister saw that movie, said it was one of the funniest she's ever seen. I'm planning to see it soon. |
I already started school on August 9th =P
I'm a senior, whoo~ In high school, not college =( |
Hahah Aug 9th, that sucks lol. I'm gonna be a senior too, starting Sept 5. I feel sorry for you AZians
|
Seriously, I don't know what this stupid state's problem is.
The teachers all think they're slowly trying to move to year-round schedual. But I don't care, I get out like May 18th or something and graduation's May 25th. |
Yeah I get out around then too. How long is your spring/christmas break? I have one week for christmas and one for spring break. But I get a helluva lot of inservice days and stuff throughout the year (we only have one month in which every week is a five day week). And we have snow days here in DE, which I'm guessing you don't in AZ. But my friend moved to AZ and they said that you guys have "hot days" over there, over 100 degrees F?
|
Haha, we get a LOT of freaking breaks. 2 weeks for Christmas, 1 for Easter, 1 for Fall, "late starts" once a month [its where for one Wednesday and one Thursday in a row, school starts 2 hours later..the Wednesday is periods 1, 3 and 5 and the Thursday is 2, 4 and 6..its kinda hard to explain], a bunch of 1/2 days, random days off...
I don't think so, no. 'Cause its over 100 ALL THE TIME...they probably get them down in like..Tucson and Phoenix, but I live more up in the mountains [the ones bordering Mexico T-T], so it stays cooler here. |
School starts in week, don't remind me.
|
I actually liked it alot. I mean, the premise kinda makes it what it is, but they didn't do such a bad job with it.
Yeah wan't too bad. If it never had S.L. Jackson in it wouldn't be half as good.
|
It only sucks if you're stuck with sucky classes and a long day.
Me, I have 4 classes in high school [which means I only go from 7:21~11:11], first 2 classes being aide for drama and commercial art, second two being free enterprise and constitution, and then Mondays and Wednesdays I have English 101 at the college from 12:15~1:30. So. I don't mind at all that school has started, its not like I really GO anyway. |
I'm done school. Whoo hoo. My mom really wants me to go to post-secondary, but I really have nothing to go for. Every week she'll bring home a new college program guide and ask me just to look through it, see if anything catches my eye.
The only thing I would consider going for would be a radio broadcasting course, and none of them even offer that. All the music courses are like 5 days long, too. And I finally switched over to an adult account at the bank. I have to pay nothing, as long as I keep $1000 in my bank account. I love knowing one of the bosses at the bank, they actually tell you what's best for you, not just "pick this one". |
Wow, I still have 8am-3pm school, 80 minute classes and pre-calculus along with physics and economics make for a fun year.
However the music department just started a Wold Music Drumming class! |
Bored
