i kinda like the benton-less albums.

kinda like.

the interment/funebrarum split was pretty sick.

Jondur 09-13-2007 03:06 AM

Acid Bath have massive amounts of death metal in their sound. Plus this thread started off as a general 'extreme metal' thread so I think it's fine to talk about Acid Bath. In fact I'm going to.

I think they're a great band. There's a million bands doing the gruesome lyrics thing but only Acid Bath managed to make their lyrics truly psychotic. It was a real shame when the bass player died as I think they were only just approaching their peak. I have the Live DVD and they were such a great live band - a source of eternal regret that I never got to see them.

Acid Bath are fantastic.
I'm pretty sure a number of people have heard that split between them, a link to it was spread around quite a few of the regulars here.
Yeah. It's decent.

VomitStainedCretin 09-13-2007 08:07 AM
Anyone like Wormed?
The stuff I've heard is pretty cool. I showed them to a friend, who wasn't that impressed, and said the vocals were 'hippopotamus-like'.

I think I've only heard one Acid Bath album (don't remember what it was called) but I really liked it. It had some sweet groove in the drumming, and kind of reminded me of Pantera if they were good songwriters. What's their best album, in your opinion?

On the topic of Wormed, they are ****ing sweet, if a bit repetitive at times. Good for a nice headbang every now and then:). And yeah, their vocals are pretty gruesome. I actually used to get mild nausea whenever I listened to them :p

I think i'm the only reason that's even known around here. You're welcome.

i am the robots 09-13-2007 11:44 AM

No wonder it sucks so much. LOL

A+ about the lyrics man. I have always felt that haunting atmosphere the lyrics, combined with Dax's eerie vocals, created. The instruments obviously add a great deal of that atmosphere as well...

example: The "Take your time and take your life. Amputate with this dull knife" part of Morticians Flame...many others but too little time.
what's the general consesus on Vital Remains around here? are they too melodious or just to cheesy for the average death head? because i just love them
Meh imo

Treebeard 09-13-2007 01:23 PM

Can anyone recommend me some bands to check out? I'm growing tired of what I've been listening to. I'm looking for stuff that is just "insanely heavy", fast, and technical. If you can help give it a shot...

i am the robots 09-13-2007 01:28 PM

From Graves Of Valor

http://www.mediafire.com/?3kuwxm9n5zm

Okay, they're heavy for melodic death. :p

Treebeard 09-13-2007 01:30 PM

Just checked out the myspace, and I pretty much hated it. :(

Well Im listening to "Oh My Fcking God" at the moment and its doin it for me...Strapping Young Lad is good stuff in general, but Im sure someone will tell me its not and that this is the wrong thread.

Treebeard 09-13-2007 01:34 PM

Here are some bands I've been listening to lately. Maybe this will help in the suggestions

Anaal Nathrakh - Eschaton
Defeated Sanity - Psalms of the Moribund
Implosive Disgorgence - Implosive Disgorgence
Maggot Stuffed Cu nt - myspace slabs
Abominable Putridity - myspace slabs

K, so actually I don't care if it's fast or slow or anything. I just want to like it and have not heard it before.

C.O.A. 09-13-2007 01:57 PM

i love Love

so you want goregrind and brutal death, basically?

check out Stabwound, Circle of Dead Children, Insision and Terminally Your Aborted Ghost unless you've heard them before

masscows 09-13-2007 02:10 PM

I cant listen to circle of dead children. the vocals get on my nerves.

i really love them, but i can see how they could seem grating to some

i am the robots 09-13-2007 02:49 PM

CODC's singer is freaking awesome. So creative.

Prostitute Disfigurement
Mortician

Deth 09-13-2007 02:52 PM

Mortican? Seriously?

They may be the worst death metal band ever.

masscows 09-13-2007 02:53 PM

Prostitute Disfigurement is horrible

Mortician is good for comedic value though

i am the robots 09-13-2007 02:55 PM

I can understand not liking Mortician, but Prostitute Disfigurement is amazing.
Mortican? Seriously?

I hate all those bands. :( I can't find any metal I like anymore.

i am the robots 09-13-2007 03:14 PM

I'm pretty sure I hate you.

Maybe Autumn Leaves and Intestine Baalism? They both do a little bit of traditional death metal and a little bit of melodic death, and both are freaking awesome.

LifeInABox 09-13-2007 03:37 PM

Autumn Leaves?

Daven 09-13-2007 03:39 PM

I could never get into Autumn Leaves.

i am the robots 09-13-2007 03:40 PM

Really? I love them.
Autumn Leaves?
Awesome band.

masscows 09-13-2007 03:42 PM

I'll check out Autumn Leaves and Intestine Baalism

i am the robots 09-13-2007 03:43 PM

It's weird seeing somebody who posts on MX that doesn't know those two, but yeah, you are new and they haven't been spoken of in forever.

masscows 09-13-2007 03:46 PM

I probably just didnt pay attention

and I can't find the death metal autumn leaves on myspace, but there's like 50 emo bands with that name...

Intestine Baalism is weird, brutal guttural vocals with an in flames-ish feel.

masscows 09-13-2007 03:48 PM

oh, now im listening to another one of their songs and its less in flames-ish...

Well Robots does like Converge so I wouldnt be amazed if more of his musical taste blew:thumb:

i am the robots 09-13-2007 03:51 PM

Converge is amazing, stfu right now, and let me assure you, Autumn Leaves is awesome.

Autumn Leaves - Embraced By The Absolute, full album.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/ll28rd

masterchaos 09-13-2007 03:55 PM

and Intestine Baalism sounds like someone took Cannibal songs and recorded over with an even worse Chris Barnes

Shattered_Future 09-13-2007 03:55 PM

Intestine Baalism is Japanese (I think...they're some kind of Asian), so they're bound to sound different here and there. I love how some of their song titles get poorly translated.

NemesisDivina 09-13-2007 03:56 PM
I hate all those bands. :( I can't find any metal I like anymore.
listen to Anata

i am the robots 09-13-2007 03:58 PM

SF, Intestine Baalism's material is actually in English to begin with.
And yeah, they're Japanese.

Treebeard 09-13-2007 04:16 PM

I've heard Anata, Intestine Baalism, and Autumn Leaves before. Intestine Baalism is alright, I guess.

Dunno, pretty much every metal band I come across I think is boring/bull ****. And that sucks since I'm mainly a metal guy.
