The beginning is pleasant enough. Nice guitar sound, but a very trite part. The spoken word only adds to the overall cheesiness of the tune. The bass part is awful, and is mixed very poorly. Just before it came in I wasn't paying much attention and I thought to myself "what the fu[COLOR="White"]c[/COLOR]k am I listening to?" and thought to turn it off, but then I realized that I was doing you a favor or something, so I didn't. The mix is thin during the first vocal verse, and your weak voice is very exposed. Sounds unnatural. The accompaniment you did choose is ridiculous, with repeated notes pricking at my ears, and a very bland harmonic texture. It becomes very apparent that your guitar is out of tune during the chorus(?). The next verse is more nicely layered, but that bass part still really sucks. A rhythmic component in the arrangement is very much needed, especially when you start to sing. Things just don't hang together or push forward. The song doesn't have an ending to speak of, it just sort of stops. As far as form is concerned, it's a mess, and comes off sounding unplanned and confusing.

yeah it was something i just tossed together and i make no statements that my recording quality is excellent or that i'm not using a shi[size=2]tty[/size] mic and a terrible bass (becuase i am). as for rhythm i don't have much of a means for it but i agree it's needed.

Asymm, I got your podcast, week5, liked the ending tracks alot more than the start but in particular I loved that last track, so is the band name, 'Adem'? Also I was really impressed with your recording and eq settings, the bass drum and drums overall came out clearer than it does on most of the songs in my itunes library. Ah Glacier is really nice that should be a fun day trip, its supposed to snow here today but it doesn't look like that is going to happen so you should have good weather too. Go to the art muesum if you are into those things its pretty cool and its in the middle of down town... bah my mind is blanking out right now as to what to recommend you to do. Unfortunately, the Z is correct. That solo show was mostly done in response to my on-campus station going through a temporary lapse in judgement. And since, they've fixed their ways and I subsequently dropped the podcast. Glad you like it though.

Just recently decided I'm going to purchase a microKORG. I'm making some measly cash for being the art director for periphery (art/lit journal), so I'm going to blow it on something that I wouldn't normally purchase for myself. Anyone have any experience with the microKORG? thoughts? etc?

The drummer in my band has one of those. Really cool. I don't know much about it since I've only played it a few times, but it's defindently a really cool thing to have.

You can get a s[I]h[/I]it ton of cool sound effects to come out of that thing.

There was a good one for 80s American Underground music called "Something I Learned Today", but I havn't used it for about a year. Not even sure if its stil active.

The microkorg uses digital technology to emulate things that a lot of different vintage analog machines do, and it is very reliable, portable, and customer support should be very good. Some of the vintage machines that the microKorg emulates, however, are very worth looking into at the same price. Vintage analogs are not necessarily as versatile as microkorg, since they tend to have their own character, where the microkorg seeks to package as many of those classic characters in one box as possible. You also have to sacrifice customer support, since you'll be buying 20 year old machines second hand. Vintage analog, though, is much easier to use, because the sound-editing interfaces were much more generous before LCD screens and membrane buttons. In the world of subtractive synthesis, there is really no debate between the sounds of analog vs. digital. Analog sounds amazing: warm, fat, and lifelike. I recommend checking into the Roland Juno-60 or Korg Polysix from the 1980s before picking up the microkorg.

I mean, if you're going to drop $400 you might as well get something that sounds great, has normal-sized keys, and dedicates a knob to every parameter of sound for maximum tweaking.
