You guys aren't referring to the Incubus I hear on the radio, or are you?
No, the old Florida Death/thrash band... they released a demo or 2, but that's about it.

RavenousMetalist87 01-12-2005 07:12 PM

Ehh...I procrastinated again...I didn't get Enemy of God. I'm waiting until Friday to see if Tower will have it on sale, but I highly doubt it, but I'm still going to get it. I don't think it's THAT melodic...at least not as melodic as Violent Revolution.

or...Shadows Fall and their last release XD

Griffin_Page 01-12-2005 08:26 PM

Wow, I've ****in had it with Overkill.

Ok, so I've been trying to download them for a while (WinMX doesnt have much Overkill)... so I'm listening to "Elimination".. starts out alright, generic thrash riffing, but it has potential.... then bam, I turn it the **** off. Why? Blitz's voice comes on, and just blasts any idea of Overkill being a good band out of my mind. Seriously, does he sing like this on everything? If there is anything where he does not sound like an annoying, high-pitched little bitch, tell me.. I want to hear what you guys are talking about >_<.

sensitiveorgan00 01-12-2005 08:29 PM

Though most of you guys probably already have this album. For those who don't, here's Sadus - Illusion (full).
http://nuclearwinter.bestmusicpages.com/

Do you guys remember the fill-in vocalist for Exodus for the recent Megadeth tour? He's currently in Skinlab, but he also did vocal duties for Defiance.
http://www.defiance1.com/album.html
You can download one of their albums there. It's not bad, pretty good.

Griffin_Page 01-12-2005 08:37 PM

Thanks for the link to Sadus... I haven't been able to get my hands on them, but they kick ***. Thanks.

I guess it's just cuz you don't take a liking to that style of vox. Overkill is easily one of my fav's, because I'm not annoyed by Blitz' vocals. He does change his style a tiny bit on the newer albums, just to a bit deeper of a voice, but he still does the occasional scream, which I enjoy :) , and obviously you don't. So there's nothing really else for me to say to you about Overkill, just that there's more to them than Blitz, a lot more.

Blasphemy! :)

I didn't like Blitz's vocals at first but they grew on me. Get more of their tracks as his voice is an aqquired taste.

Sadus are brilliant, Illusions is their best work I think.
No, the old Florida Death/thrash band... they released a demo or 2, but that's about it.
No, there is ANOTHER version, that later changed their name to Opprobrium. They have released 3 albums. Serpent Temptation, the one I sent RCA, is their debut.

Griffin_Page 01-13-2005 01:08 PM

Blah. I think I'll just stick to not liking Overkill :p

LordDargon 01-13-2005 01:10 PM

Shame, you're missing out bigtime :(

NP Overkill - I Hate

in what is possibly the greatest song ever!

Griffin_Page 01-13-2005 01:25 PM

I can't be missing out if I hate the voice :P.

But yeah... I'll be seeing Kreator, Death Angel, and Vader in L.A. in April... anyone else going to that show?

LordDargon 01-13-2005 01:28 PM

Not in L.A., but whenever they go to east coast (IF they go to the east coast) I will.

I thought you didn't like Overkill?

Kreator play in London, i'm still deciding whether i should go.

RCA 01-13-2005 04:45 PM

I just finished listening to the Speed Kill Hate album that I borrowed from my friend.

I also just got back from the hospital because I had a severe neck pain after listening to that album.

Get. That. Album.

RavenousMetalist87 01-13-2005 07:36 PM

The Kreator show in April, eh Griffin?

I want to go too, but I better convince my cousin to go with me. He lives close to the House of Blues on Sunset Strip, so it wouldn't be too far from his house. I definitely want to see Kreator live...how hard is it to get up to the main railing?

Corporal Compendia 01-13-2005 07:39 PM
Shame, you're missing out bigtime :(
Not really, Overkill aren't bad, but... they're not that good either. I have 5 or so of their albums, but I listen to them on a basis of never.

ForiegnPenguin 01-13-2005 08:00 PM

I'll take them off your hands.

FatalEnergy 01-13-2005 10:34 PM

I'm seeing Kreator, Death Angel, etc. in Sacramento....aka Sactown, the place where I like would happen to be pretty lame. The best band out of Sacramento honestly is Tesla, all that comes out of this dump hole now is crappy *** emo garbage, oh well..........I'll make it big and then Sactown will be know for its prog thrash metal and such

Thrash_The_Sabbath 01-13-2005 10:41 PM

Okay. I'm a huge metal fan but unfortunately I live in Minnesota. The only thrash band I kno of is Metallica...throw some bands my way please

Apocalyptic Raids 01-14-2005 12:00 AM

Exodus
Slayer
Megadeth
Anthrax
Testament
Kreator
Sodom
Sepultura

that should be enough to get you started.
Okay. I'm a huge metal fan but unfortunately I live in Minnesota. The only thrash band I kno of is Metallica...throw some bands my way please
Aswell as those listed above you should definitely get some Dark Angel.

ThrashMaster27 01-14-2005 03:29 AM

Not really much news wise, but Testament are re-releasing an old VHS from 1991 to DVD format if anybody's interested. Most likely not seen as how we don't have that many hardcore Testament fans in here. Mind you, this may be old news that I didn't spot, but I thought I better mention it anyway.

Apocalyptic Raids 01-14-2005 04:00 AM

So that DVD would have skolnick on it? Correct?

ThrashMaster27 01-14-2005 04:04 AM

Yup, everyone from the original line up is on it.

Apocalyptic Raids 01-14-2005 04:47 AM

Sounds pretty good.

ThrashMaster27 01-14-2005 06:11 AM

Well, according to most people the VHS has crap sound. I don't know if they'll be able to alter it for the DVD version....perhaps, we'll have to see.

NP: Forbidden - Twisted Into Form

ThrashMaster27 01-14-2005 06:18 AM

Ohhhh yeah! doesn't Russ Anderson have a pretty good screaming voice. When he uses it during the end of songs it sounds Halford-esque....impressed me at least.

DimebagDarrell 01-14-2005 06:38 AM

just got my ticket for megadeth with diamond head supporting and just ordered my judas priest ticket :)

RCA 01-14-2005 08:20 AM

I ordered that Speed Kill Hate album "Acts of Insanity" this morning. Can't wait for it to come in!

I love that song!

Everyone check out Bywar:

http://www.bywarthrashers.com/

Brazilian Thrash is just fu.cking consitently slaying every other kind of thrash these days.

SLATANIC-666 01-14-2005 12:23 PM

Just listened to Thrashers Return and I gotta say, Bywar are excellent thrash Dargon, I'm gonna try and get my hands on one of their albums. The vocals reminded me of Mille Petrozza's early black metal approach vocal, or maybe thats because I'm currently listening to Endless Pain :p

metal-militia 01-14-2005 01:54 PM

Thanks for the tip on Bywar, Dargon :thumb:

That Testament DVD sounds pretty good as well

They take after the fast, brutal side of Overkill. I know you'll adore this album.
