Shady Ultima 09-29-2004 01:33 PM

Just bought The New Megadeth, it's not bad, way better than most Thrash comeback albums (****allica...) I like Dave's voice, it's very dark, and the whole CD, is actually pretty good.

LordDargon 09-29-2004 02:30 PM

Kick the chair... blahblah blha... ummm...

meh. :-/ I always did suck at remembering lyrics.

sacrifice93.2 09-29-2004 02:45 PM

It won't beat these lyrics though.
Launch the Polaris
The end doesn't scare us.
When will this cease?
Warheads will all rust in peace!
One of the first lines I saw in this thread was that Shadows Fall is considered thrash. If that's the case then I'm probably the biggest ****ing thrash fan ever (but still a good fan even if SF isn't).
I love your name pal, but Shadows Fall is more of a metalcore band, like Lamb of God. Here's three elements of thrash that define it for me:
1)Fast, intricate playing
2)Lyrics that are creepy at one point, but very well thought of (Megadeth is the best example, because Mustaine is in more than one way, a genius)
3)No deep vomiting sounding lyrics.

LordDargon 09-29-2004 02:56 PM

Nothing will ever surpass the last verses of Darkness Descends - one of the very few lyrics I have memorized.

MORTIS
Decaying, the ruins fall swift to the ground
the carnage is morbid and great
mephitic deathstench of corpses abounds
the earth meets its untimely fate
horrific malignancy, spreading it's wings
across the expanse of the sky
something I forgot
THE JUDGES COMMIT GENOCIDE!!!!!!!

That "Get Thrashed" trailer was wicked awesome. I'll definately try to catch that.

I recently purchased:
Overkill - Horrorscope
Testament - Low
Testament - Live At The Fillmore

The Overkill album was great, top notch. But the live Testament album was my favorite of the bunch. Low might become my favorite album if I listen to it enough (Only had time to listen to it once since I bought it, riffs are killer).

NP: Toxic Holocaust - Warfare

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-29-2004 07:32 PM

Hey I'm new to the whole Thrash scene, but I'm really into it, and I had a question for all you thrash jeenyuses

What would Mastodon be considered? I know they have some thrash, but how much?

MOP haha

manuscriptreplica 09-29-2004 08:22 PM

Mallcore.

I'm guessing by the MOP haha that you don't like it? Good work.

Awesome choices, RIP!

I love Low a lot..I was listening to it while I was in the shower, and yeah, I still play the air guitar and headbang during those songs, especially during "DOG FACED GODS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111"

haha...I love that album, and the Live at the Fillmore is a great one too, but I haven't gotten it yet because I spent way too much money on CDs last month. I bought so much but they pricey x_x.

I can't wait for the new Testament album to be released. Not to mention the new Kreator as well.

...I need Sepulutra CDs, but I can't find any of the classics like Schizophrenia, Morbid Visions w/ Bestial Devestation EP, Beneath the Remains and Arise.

I would order them over CDNOW, but I hate waiting...well they're opening up a new Borders in the mall on friday, and I might be able to see if they actually have at least one for a good price.

JMetallica 09-30-2004 12:14 AM

I actually found Schizophrenia and Morbid Visions/Bestial Devestation in used stores. Had to special order BTR and i found Arise just lying around. My advice: Order them, you wont regret it. ;)

DisposableHeroes 09-30-2004 09:03 AM

i'm rolling in the benjamins at the minute so i will look into buying those Sep albums

Get Schizophrenia whoever asked about sep albums *plug* theres my review of it on here too */plug*

SLATANIC-666 09-30-2004 12:38 PM

Bought Arise on a whim, one of the best decisions i ever made! And then from there i bought Morbid Visions/Bestial Devastation,Schizophrenia and Beneath The Remains off the net in one swoop and then eventually although reluctantly went for Chaos AD and Roots in a special roadrunner deal and despite all the negative reviews on both i thought that chaos AD was good considering it wasn't really thrash and then roots was listenable but i definitely preferred the previous five. I can't yet bring myself to buy anything by them with derrick green but maybe one day i will.

I want a Testament shirt...and a Kreator shirt too :upset:

I will find out how though...hehe :)

Riva 09-30-2004 06:16 PM

When my town has it's annual show, these booths set up that sell all kinds of band shirts. I've seen quite a few Kreator ones there.

FatalEnergy 09-30-2004 06:40 PM

I've been trying to get Darkness Descends but every cd store I go to, (Tower.com, cduniverse.com, etc.) All have to back order it, and I dont feel like waiting,

ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET IT !?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

FatalEnergy 09-30-2004 06:42 PM

Yeah I want a Testament and Kreator shirt as well, if anyone manages to find somewhere that have OLD shirts of these 2 bands let me know

sensitiveorgan00 09-30-2004 07:34 PM

www.star500.com might have what you're looking for. If anyone knows any sites that sell
metal t-shirts for a good price, post teh link here.

they have the shirts, but not the ones in my size...

I wear an adult medium, and they don't list if these shirts are preshrunk or not...

well, I don't really have the cash to go shirt shopping, but when I do, I'll try to find the shirts. I hope when the new albums from Testament and Kreator come out, that they release merchandise to go with it. Hell, I know I might sound stupid for saying hot topic, but they have some cool shirts. I got my Rust In Peace shirt from them.

JMetallica 09-30-2004 11:41 PM

Yeah, buying clothes of the net is ****ed. I have got burned on EVERY SINGLE PURCHASE i have made. Ordered a ****ing Feel the Fire shirt and it was f**kin huge. Ordered a Screaming for Vengeance t-shirt, ended up getting an extra large, that was pretty much a dress on me. After those two incidents, i ordered a black sabbath t-shirt in a medium and it was ****ing skin tight. Argh, clothes are awful. I pretty much just hide under a leather jacket now days.

Oh yeah, there is another case of purchasing 4320584039850349 sizes to big. I bought a size 44 and i knew it was way too big, but the ****ing sales person was a pushy bitch, and i cannot stand up for myself, so i bought the **** thing. i bought a new one from a bike shop soon after which is schweet. In conclusion, i have a Leather jacket in a size 44 for sale. PERFECT condition, pure leather, biker style, lots of zips n **** - $100 AU. (Retail $300 + ).

Message me if you want a leather jacket. ;)

How good are you at guitar man?

RavenousMetalist87 10-01-2004 10:27 AM
How good are you at guitar man?
I have a steady and precise rhythm, but my leads suck :upset:

I've had problems with songwriting lately and so my stuff hasn't been so great...other than that, I can try to nail a song down and hopefully get as accurately close to it. I know for a fact I might not be a perfect guitarist, but I am human, so I do the best I can to get close to what I try to attempt to sound like.

So far, I'm have the right timing and beat, but the soloing is a thing that isn't trying to catch on to me.

I do love complexity though :)
