when did i even hint at having jets at my command? i didnt even describe what id be doing until timjim posted his grossly false description of me 'controlling combat' or something.
i said it would be badass. which it will be. going in with the first ground force in a mission area is definitely more badass than anything youll probably ever do in your life. not trying to be rude or anything.
well first off combat control =/= air traffic control and secondly if i wanted to be badass then i would join a mercenary group or a pirate group that works in the pacific |
idc tbh just seemed ridiculous initially to compare it to Vince's research which was so far from anything you'll ever do (and 99.9999% of everyone in the military) that I felt like criticizing everything
well as long as youre cool with it then why should i care.
even though PEOPLE WILL STILL DIE like recruitment ads will tell the full truth
no way privates in the Marine Corps fight fire-breathing CGI dragons on tightropes with their sabers, I saw it in a recruitment ad |

I'm bored
umm, his research is not some godlike thing. thats exactly what people in the air force do. what do you think they just have uneducated folk come in and design and maintain the greatest system of satellites, rockets, vehicles, and technology in the world? |
yeah thats a classic. i just finished reading shadow over innsmouth for the first time today. not all that impressed. i love his older works, like the arthur jermyn story and rats in the walls. his whole 'if you knew the secrets of your ancestors you would want to kill yourself' thing is really intriguing.
i picked this up at borders the other week http://www.amazon.com/Necronomicon-Weird-Tales-Lovecraft-Gollancz/dp/0575081570/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1251262729&sr=8-6
Rats in the walls was the very first Lovecraft story I ever read. The vocabulary he uses to describe things is amazing. |

loooool guess you don't know how university research works or how the military acquires those toys anyway going to bed, got class at 9 |

666 Dallas representin
what are you getting at? i understand deth, but youre grossly underestimating things. the marines and army might just be grunts, but the majority of the air force are highly trained people who do work in those fields that you seem to think only gods can do. |

it really all boils down to:
military people can kick university kids' asses |
it really all boils down to:
military people can kick university kids' asses
yes because they come from the lower castes of american society. they failed high school, and/or didnt want anything to do with uni but need cash so they ran to the government like most people do with few choices left. they are sooo strong also i dont mean to pick at you or say that you are, but dude there are so many better things to do with your life |

also i dont mean to pick at you or say that you are, but dude there are so many better things to do with your life
its kind of irritating that this is how people think it is. you know that its nigh impossible to get in without a high school diploma right now right? yeah, alot of people go there because they dont have other options, but thats, maybe 50% at the most. the air force itself is about 35% officers, which are people that had college degrees before they enlisted. have you ever thought that not everybody wants to sort out pills and waste away behind a counter all their life? id say its alot more interesting to jump out of planes and ****. but thats more sarcasm than anything, the majority of people have other options, myself included, but they choose it for a number of other reasons. |
oh only 50% my bad
|
i say 50% because the army and marines are mostly the people youre talking about. air force and navy are alot different these days. but im sure you know that because youre an expert on the military i see.

you guys are overgeneralizing too much
some people in the military are, yeah, "the best grade I ever got was a C+ in woodshop" types but I've known quite a few from all branches who were really witty and off-scale compared to most people I come across |
