Ok, I'll through in my favs:
Guitarist: David Gilmour Singer: Ian Gillian Bassist: John Entwistle Drummer: Keith Moon or Ginger Backer Keyboardist: Keith Emerson Songwriter: Bob Dylan (duh) |
Guitarist-Jimi Hendrix
Singer-David Gilmour Bassist-Jack Bruce Drummer-Mitch Mitchell Keyboard-Ray Manzarek Songwriter-Bob Dylan Overall-Neil Young Other Instrument-Ravi Shankar
This new type of tea is fucking with my mind...at first I thought you were like naming a collaboration or something and I was like :amaze: Then I realized that not only is everyone naming their favourite musicians etc, but that I've read your post several times already. edit - (When I saw "Overall - Neil Young" I was like...umm?) |
Other Instrument-Ravi Shankar
I have yet to get any of his material....how is it? Any suggestions on what album to get?
Singer- Bob Dylan
Odd choice.....
Singer: Ian Gillian
Pardon my ignorance but who's that?
|
guy from Deep Purple, I think.
|
Guitarist: Eric Clapton
Singer: John Lennon Bassist: John Entwistle Drummer: Keith Moon Keyboardist: Keith Emerson Overall: Ian Anderson Songwriter: John Lennon, Pete Townshend, Ian Anderson Woah the forums got updated/changed. Looks more generic like other forums now :( |
We should do this for lots of genres of music.
|
Pardon my ignorance but who's that?
Deep Purple I think... |
I'm pretty sure Ian Gillan also sang for later Black Sabbath....I could be wrong though.
|
Yeah, in the 80's he sang for Sabbath.
|
Ian Gillian was Deep Purple, their second singer I believe.
And about him thinking he sang for Sabbath, I think you're confusing him with Dio, who sang for RItchie Blackmore's second group, Rainbow, before going over to Sabbath. |
He plays 46 instruments,
Something tells me that's really not as impressive as it sounds. Take for example a percussionist who on any given occasion may play: Timpani, Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Field Drum, Triangle, Crash Cymbals, Suspended Cymbals, Gong, Cowbell, Claves, Shakers, Temple Blocks, Bells, Xylophone, Marimba, Vibraphone, Drum Kit, Congas, Bongos, roto-toms, Chimes, Wind Chimes, Piano, Tamborine, etc etc..... |
With Ian Gillan, Glen Hughes and Tony Martin all filling the slot. 1983's Born Again saw Bill Ward returning to the Band joined with Ex-Deep Purple frontman Ian Gillan.
Guitarist: Eric Clapton (Cream/Eric Clapton)
Singer: Ronnie James Dio (Rainbow/Black Sabbath/Dio) Bassist: Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) Drummer: Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater) Keyboardist: Jon Lord (Deep Purple) Songwriter: Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) Some of these guys aren't exactly classic rock...so whatever. PS: These guys' egos would never work together. |

Guitarist: Martin Barre, Jimmy Page, Steve Vai (yeah, I know not classic rock, but meh), Alex Lifeson. Several others, actually.
Singer: Rodger Daltry Bassist: Geddy Lee, Chris Squire Drummer: Neil Peart Keyboardist: Rick Wakeman, Overall: pfft Songwriter: Ian Anderson, Neil Peart, Bob Dylan, Rodger Waters Yep. That was extremely hard to choose. |
Heh, If it wasn't classic rock, I would've chose Vai also. I forgot about Squire.
|
I forgot about Squire.
Not acceptable. |
Not acceptable.
*puts on Roundabout* *is amazed by bassmanship* |
Keyboardist: Rick Wakeman,
Who?
Heh, If it wasn't classic rock, I would've chose Vai also. I forgot about Squire
If we would've done Jazz mine would looked alot different aswell. NP: Dazed and Confused - Yardbirds |
Rick Wakeman was in Yes.
|
Who?
From Yes. He's very good, I think. |
*puts on Roundabout*
*is amazed by bassmanship*
The bassline from Roundabout is one of the best ever. His tone throughout that album was so innovative. The Fish is probably the most original piece of bass playing, well, ever. Squier is proof that playing with a pick and playing with fingers makes little diffrence to great players. (I think he always used a pick) I think that Yes probably had the best musicians of any Classic Rock band. Howe is an absolutley phenominal guitarist; Wakeman might be the best Keyboardist. I'm no drummer, but apparently, Bruford is amazing though I can't really hear it. |
Rick Wakeman was in Yes.
I figured.....
Eddie Hazel is quickly becoming one of my favorite guitarists. NP: Maggot Brain - Funkadelic |
The solo in Maggot Brain is amazing.

Each of those instruments varies from the other; plus, we know he had a little more versatility. |
I want how to learn to play pedalsteel, keyboard, banjo.
:) Maybe a little mandolin. |
I want how to learn to play pedalsteel, keyboard, banjo.
:) Maybe a little mandolin.
:) Those instruments are at the top of my list as well. it goes like: 1.mandolin 2.banjo 3.pedalsteel etc |
I know someone who plays pedalsteel. I might have to go to his place and slowly learn until I buy one.
|
I wanna learn how to play harmonica...but I'm too cheap right now to buy one. I've just perfected Subterranean Homesick Blues, all I need now is a harmonica (and I suppose a backup band) and I'm set. I could probably play about a 1-2 hour long setlist of only Dylan songs now...but I still need a harmonica to make it perfect (and once again...a backup band).
np: Baby Your A Rich Man. |

Not nearly as impressive as it sounds. Go to any highschool and find a percussionist, there's a teenager who plays a multitude of instruments already. Well which 46 does he play and how well does he play each one? |
