as it was mine as well, but once you get older you realize its not going to happen.
Likewise. When I was a lad I wanted to play for Sunderland at football (soccer to you guys), and to be fair, I was good. I still am, considering I can play against guys who've played for York Uni 1st team and match them, if not outplay them, despite not having trained for 2 years.

But still, you reach a point when you realise that if it was gonna happen, it would have happened by now. Which is, in fairness, a little crushing.

Fish 10-09-2005 08:45 PM

yup, exactly, i really really thought i had what it took to make it to the nhl a couple years ago, but then you compare yourself to people on other teams and it opens up your eyes a bit more. You can see the ones who are really serious about it, and have what it takes, its the same for every sport.

I played soccer for a long time. I never really had a dream of going pro. In fact, I never even played rep. Although I could have easily made it.

Our local hockey team is really good.

are you on it? (hockey)

billiejoe84 10-09-2005 08:50 PM

/me likes the Colorado Avalanche, due to Patrick Roy, despite the fact that he's probably dead now.

See my out-dated hockey knowledge, from the days when I used to be able to stay up late and watch games on Channel 5. Now I don't have a TV, so I come on here instead.

Fire Whispers (what's your name again? Sorry, I forget), how long did you play footy for? Were you much good? What position did you play?

Were you much good

I used to like the avs because of Roy also...since he's left really I haven't watched much hockey, I still cheer on the avs but really right now I have no idea who's even on their team.

Fish 10-09-2005 09:04 PM

oh man, my computer just froze on me, and it took like 10 minutes to restart

barely anyone this season

billiejoe84 10-09-2005 09:06 PM

Well, my house is a dump. Officially.

We have no tissue of any kind in the house. That's right, we have no toilet roll, so when I have a shit I have to wipe my ass with kitchen roll. Similarly, I haven't had the time to buy another box of Kleenex (or imitation) recently, so I have to jack off into kitchen roll as well.

I hate my house. Kitchen roll has its uses, but not these.

That sucks...my room has alot of plates with food still left on them...quite a few pepsi cans and also a fair few root beer cans. I've got at least enough food up there to feed myself for a good week..it's gross as hell..but whatever, I don't care enough to clean it up anytime soon.

actually yeah, hes a decent skater, plus i think they still have sakic and foote, not entirely sure though, but they lost ALOT of big names which really sucks for any ave fans out there.

Naw, I was never the greatest skater.

James, I played soccer since I was 4 or 5, so about 10 years. I usually played Defense. Except the third and fourth year I was keeper. The last two years I played mid and sometimes striker. I was pretty versatile and yeah, I was usually one of the best on my team.

At soccer? Yeah, I was well good. I outplayed most of the guys on the university team at the trials in my first year, when I was 18, but didn't even make the reserve team because as far as I can tell, the footy team at this uni are horrendously cliquey. In other words, a talented first year will happily be ignored in favour of a mediocre third year, on grounds of being friends with the captain.

Ah well, it was their loss. I bet none of their first team could beat a man with a Ronaldinho shuffle, or place a cross on the head of a lone striker amongst a crowd of 4 defenders, both of which I can do and showed I can in the trials.

Muahahahahahahahhahahahhahahahahahhaaaaargghhhhhh (dies)

Surtr 10-09-2005 09:12 PM

I'm workin on my footy skills...I've never played before but I'd say I'm not to bad...in PE class compared to most people I'd say I'm pretty good. I don't know why I'm even doing footy stuff..not like I ever plan on going anywheres with it, or even going in a league.

Man ever notice that Ronaldo seems to give more when he plays with Man U. than when he plays with Brazil?

Me and my friend were joking about Ronaldo one day...My friends from Brazil so he's a Ronaldo fan to.

Ralph: I bet Ronaldo can't even play soccer..
Me: :p He's probably retarded..and whenever he sees the ball he chases it because it's shiny...
Ralph: :p They're like ok Ronaldo..once you get the ball..kick it in that net..
Me: Ronaldo's all like "Man, they keep telling me to kick the ball in the net..it's so simlple! I just keep doing it and they keep telling me I'm doing a great job! and I get paid! :D "
