I think I finally have a favourite Rolling Stones song. Wild Horses just sounded incredible to me today for some reason.
I love that song. |
hmm. i think my favorite stones song is beast of burden.
Great song. Rich and compelling. :D I think I'm going to jazz up my Lennon-Hitler. It's pretty crappy at the moment. |
haha. i have terrible paint skills. example: my avatar.
ive been listening to the flaming lips a lot lately. anyone else listen to them? |
They're a little too weird and cutesy for my liking, but they have their moments.
|
Heh, Charlie Chaplin, now THAT'S scary!
|
No, i've never really listened to the Flaming Lips. What other band are they like?
|
i'm really not sure how to describe them or who to relate them to.
yoshimi battles the pink robots pt. 1 is an addictive song though. i think im going to play it for my dorm's next open mic night. |
Sounds like a lot of fun. I can't wait to go to University next year.
|
I've never understood what is so great about the Flaming Lips. But then that may just be me.
|

Like what area's of Montana? Or what about Montana I should ask.
It's a song by Frank Zappa, we had to pick a song to make the class listen to, and then we had to write a little thing about it, which actually just involves copy/pasting bio's off of the internet |

Oh... I knew that, I feel stupid now :upset: |
I love classic rock to, many great guitarists came out from it all.

They're pretty hard to classify. Some people just call them alternative, some experimental rock, or neo-psychedelia. Really they are all of those things, and Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots is a masterpiece, though it took me a while to get into it. |

I'd say they're alternative with hints of psychedelia. I love them. |
Favorite Stones song? Gotta be Gimme Shelter.
I've been on kind of a jazz kick lately, so yeah.
Me too. I downloaded Miles Davis's Kind of Blue a while back, and I got a John Coltrane album out of the library (as well as a Tom Waits album. Tom = the man) yesterday. Jazz is good. np: The Clash - Spanish Bombs |

Well, a lot of other jazz musicians and fans were angry because he was playing rock (well, jazz/rock fusion more accurately). Kinda how all the folkies hated Bob Dylan for playing with a band. But really it's a groundbreaking and very innovative album, one of the first fusion albums. |

Yeah, that's about it. It's agreat album but a lot of people dislike it because of its jazz/rock fusion style, which is quite sad. Purists are pretty annoying. |

Alright, I'll have to give it a listen. My parents have almost all of Davis's albums somewhere around the house. |
I haven't been here in forever, so whats with the halloween'd out avatars?
Also, I was thinking: what band you describe as most closely sounding like Pink Floyd? I was just wondering because I have a friend who likes Pink Floyd a lot, but not much other classic rock. |
Things about today:
We took our Beatles test (aced), then we started our Dylan stuff in class. When we finished listening to "Ballad of a Thin Man", our teacher asked in what Beatles song it was referenced to (Yer Blues). I was the only one to answer, so I got bonus points  And then I just got a new Revolver shirt from the mall. |
