Jon: Eh, I stay up till I'm finished usually. Sleep is overrated.
If I have to wake up at 6, going to bed at 2-3 is really my limit. Especially since I do it every night.
...And because, as I've said, I no longer like to read, so I don't try to get back into it that often.
But it's like listening to Good Charlotte and then saying "Nay, music ain't the best. I'll stick with books".
Why not both simultneously?
When I do read, I usually put on some music at the same time, but it ends up being a waste because I kind of block out one or the other. It usually ends up being the book that I zone out of.

Concerts and reading would be interesting if done at the same time :p

I can do that at school, when music cancels out people talking, and then I can read easily.

At home, I usually can't do that. Sensory overload.

Did anyone else read All Quiet On The Western Front for school?

I enjoyed it.

Eh, I usually do both, if something in the music catches my attention I giv eit more focus but otherwise I'm more focused on the reading since it takes more to absorb.

I wish I had more books to read I love reading but I have a hard time finding books ill like so i always read the same ones and get bored i wish i had a good book right now i need to be occupied so bad

It's not that I've read a lot of bad books, I just have lost an interest in sitting down and reading. I'm unlikely to pick up a book when I can just pop on an album.

Pick up Ender's Game. If you like the style, it'll open you up to about a dozen other amazing books.

I can never listen to music and just sit there. It's way too boring. I listen to music while doing other things, never alone. Music doesn't occupy the mind enough.

Although I'm sure I could just sit and listen to Misery Signals. They're so mesmorizing.

I rarely just listen to music and do nothing, but as I said before, music and reading doesn't work well for me, so the music overrides the reading.

I'll be looking forward to their new album. Awesome band.

Reading before sleeping, just lying a bed and reading is the best. And on the toilet.

When is it out?
I've heard it's good, is it kind of fantasy-ish like in a different world or time or anything bcause I generally dislike books that are really realistic.

Reading on the toilet is awesome!

It's set in the future (Although only a few hundred years, maybe) and revolves around child geniuses who are trained to be military commanders. Nearly all of it takes place in space, besides the parts that take place on earth (where other child geniuses are trying to take politcal power)

For the record, all books sound really stupid when you talk about them.

The setting almost doesn't matter, though, really. It's all about what the characters are going through, being isolated and extremely intelligent. There's a lot about bullying (although it goes much farther than that) and human nature.

The later books are far more metaphysical and fantastical, and involve at least two different species of aliens.

It's realistic in the sense that everything is explained, really. Little goes on that is left to the imagination (like "How does this magic work? Oh...uh..willpower. What?")

Mute Print 04-15-2006 11:32 PM

Well, I'm off guys. Good night, and Happy Easter.

You do need an avatar, it's hard to distinguish you and Vince.

If you like less emotion in your books, get Ender's Shadow instead.

It's similar, but from a different perspective.

Puma 04-15-2006 11:55 PM

I just finished reading Enders Game. Very, very good book. I also have Speaker For The Dead and Enders Shadow, but I have to read a couple other books before I get to those.

PDWAB 04-15-2006 11:56 PM

Man I am such a girl when it comes to movies nowadays. Schindler's List made me cry.... Serenity almost made me cry.... Iron Giant made me cry.... and now I'm watching Tarzan and it's at the end when the main gorilla is like, "Take care of the family now Tarzan" and then Phil Collins comes in and I'm just like "OH GOD" :upset::upset:

Speaker For The Dead and a the subsiquent books before you start Ender's Shadow.

Both series are best read on their own, in my opinion.

Speaker For The Dead and the books after it are increadible though.

You're my favorite person ever.

B 04-16-2006 12:00 AM

Are all the books you listed earlier from the same Author?

Emotion in books is what makes them great. Without it even the best written books are just good.

Yes.

Eh...the person is so analitcal that he sets aside his emotions. He grew up strarving on the streets, and it's just something he needed to do to survive. It's something the book explores heavily.

PDWAB 04-16-2006 12:09 AM

Jon you're too nice to me!

Because kindness should be rewarded with kindness.

Unless being mean would be funny.

TMA 04-16-2006 12:25 AM

I am one happy bastard right now.
Had a first band practice today and we already began writing some songs.
Makes me a happy little bitch.

BridgeToSolace 04-16-2006 12:28 AM

It's always fun for the first few times.

Then your bandmates start to piss you off >_<

The books seem really good. Just from you describing them.

I really want to read right now but it probably isn't the best thing to read stuff like that right now.

Why not?

I'mma read when I'm done doing things that shouldn't be talked about.

B 04-16-2006 12:52 AM

Because when I read I usually get these ideas in my head that my life relates to the story somehow and I really don't need that kind of thing right now..

His character are very relatable, even though the situations they are in are fairly unique.
