I think he's a pretty good bassist and an amazing song writer. His tone's really good, too. "Echoes" on Live at Pompeii just blows my mind, though, because that bass tone is so good.

Yeah the same goes for Nick Mason. Although he is not the most technical of drummers (Far from it infact), his timing is spot on and the tones he gets out of his drums are PERFECT. The snare on Wish You Were Here is the best snare sound I've ever heard.

magicbus 04-10-2007 03:39 PM

Hey man did you already get someone to upload Live At Pompeii? I didn't realize you only wanted the audio, I can do that for ya.

Danger Bird 04-10-2007 05:44 PM

Haha sure dudes. Again, if somebody shows me how to upload 1 gig files I can do the video too.

EDIT: Check your inboxes, let me know if you got it

Riva 04-10-2007 05:50 PM

It's ok, I have the DVD. :p

Danger Bird 04-10-2007 05:53 PM

All righty. Nice avatar, Dinosaur Comics are probably the best thing ever.

Riva 04-10-2007 06:01 PM

Thanks mate, you're awesome.

And yeah, I love Dinosaur Comics.

Ya. The bass is maybe my favorite part of Echoes.

rippa32 04-10-2007 06:58 PM

Is it true Andrew Lloyd Webber stole something from Echoes for Phantom Of The Opera? Ive seen the Phantom Of The Opera movie (the new one) and didn't hear anything like it.

Riva 04-10-2007 06:59 PM

The main theme in Phantom Of The Opera is very, very similar to the main riff in Echoes.

bottlerocket 04-11-2007 11:09 AM

Yeah, I got it. Thanks again. :D

El Zilcho 04-11-2007 12:38 PM

That's what I thought but whenever I hear Phantom, Echoes doesn't really spring to mind. Ill have to listen to Echoes again I think.

MattSharpIsCool 04-11-2007 07:24 PM

It's the part right after the chorus when the guitar does that riff that falls down the scale....nanananaaaaaaa nanananaaaaaaa

If you know what I mean. "nanana" is a technical term.

rippa32 04-11-2007 08:33 PM

Okay Ill give it a listen after I get some uni work done. As if I needed an excuse to listen to Pink Floyd:p

Riva 04-11-2007 10:11 PM

My ex- and I both recognised it fairly easily. You'll probably hear it straight away next time you listen to it.

Montana 04-11-2007 10:40 PM

I need to listen to both of those closely, I had no idea they were similar.

rippa32 04-11-2007 11:15 PM

Well apparently Roger was going to sue but then decided against it. Although the interview I read it from was a little strange, didn't seem like Roger at all.

CockeyedMaverik 04-12-2007 12:34 PM

any atom heart mother fans? seems like an album that doesnt get much love. does any1 know of any other songs that get as orcheastrated as on atom heart mother suite?

Riva 04-12-2007 03:52 PM

A couple on The Final Cut if you mean orchestrated like how I think you mean.

rippa32 04-12-2007 07:03 PM

So, I listened to echoes. It's definately similair, I wouldn't say its close enough to sue over though.

Jude 04-12-2007 07:40 PM

Whoa...I'll have to check out the Phantom thing, since Echoes is my favorite song ever.

Madonna was sued for something much less apparent by a Belgian group some time ago. Don't know how the case turend out though.

rippa32 04-13-2007 03:00 AM

Yeah, I wouldn't put it past Madonna. Or any pop singer for that matter.

Jacaranda 04-13-2007 06:46 AM
