new common is pretty much retarded
Not a surprise considering how bad Finding Forever was. It was obvious that was the start of a steep downhill tumble.
yeah, i had a shred of hope in some corner of my soul, but it's pretty much dashed. this sucks. have fun with your review... i assume you'll do this since you did finding forever.
i wonder if anyone black listens to Common
Is Kanye West black

Also, Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" features Snoop throughout most.
Good to hear meatplowpsychpineapple, it's good stuff. |
:')
cranking Jurassic 5's "Power in Numbers", reminds me of a lost period in my early life when I listened to this a lot then lost the CD and forgot about the band |

Man, i just can't get into J5... they really get under my skin.
This new Common sounds more like a Gwen Stefani album than it does one by the guy who did Resurrection.
lol... im really not sure what to make of it, but im leaning towards a 1.5 or 2 right now.
Probably a 1.5
He hasn't even rapped yet and I'm on the 8th song. It's just a bunch of plain-sounding over produced club beats and instructional one line vocals. |
i guess this means he's done respecting women.
yeah this is so bad; he didn't realize how dumb finding forever was. it's sad when generally good artists keep going in an obviously ridiculous direction and don't realize they're only hastening their demise. i really hope this doesn't get much airplay... |
Common has like one mediocre album. He is what white kids who want to seem like they like hip-hop latch onto. Also see The Roots, Jurassic 5, Mos Def, etc.
The Roots are awesome, Mos Def has two great releases and Common used to be awesome.
I'll agree that they all have merit, but the fact that people think they are better than people like T.I. or Eminem simply because of the message they are throwing out always made me so annoyed. Their albums have just as much filler and largely are more boring because they are concentrating on being "unique".
I've never been big into common and agree with your white kids statement about all those artists versus mainstream hiphop... but your post reads like "The Roots, Mos Def, etc are mediocre too".
which is basically false. well, actually, i agree that J5 is mediocre. |
Well, Common hasn't really been good for about a decade and the same goes for Mos Def. The Roots were pretty bad for a short period of time. But I agree with you, people put too much weight on "the message". The whole "they don't rap about bitches and money" thing certainly gets ****ing irritating. And now that's exactly what Common seems to be doing anyways.
i never got super into the Roots. i'll acknowledge that they aren't mediocre though. Mos Def has had two albums that could be considered good in a how many album career?
he's alright, but just look at his recent performances and by recent i mean the past four or five years. |
Mos Def definitely peaked early.
