DimebagDarrell 09-28-2004 12:40 PM

me neither  ah well

heard the war within shadows fall today rather good IMO
also got Cathedral - the serpents gold [best of] pure ddddoooommm metal

DisposableHeroes 09-28-2004 12:41 PM

have you noticed one or two Skolnick esque solos on the new Shadows Fall CD?

DimebagDarrell 09-28-2004 12:43 PM

I noticed very Testament style riffing i suppose the solos did remind me of him abit but there not even in his league,

DisposableHeroes 09-28-2004 12:46 PM

they have been called the Testament of this whole NWOHAM movement, regardless they're still a good band

LordDargon 09-28-2004 12:49 PM

Crushing Belial is pretty good except for the gay bit in the middle. Regardless, they're still a half-crap band.

DisposableHeroes 09-28-2004 12:54 PM

havent actually heard that track yet

i think a change of topic is needed
You can't even spell "Slaytanic" properly, so shut the fu.ck up.

And JMet has 11 000+ files on slsk, the great majority being thrash. Although I was only joking calling him the "greatest storehouse of thrash knowledge", you can't deny that he probably knows more about it than anyone else in here.
What's his Soulseek name?

TTTSNB 09-28-2004 01:24 PM

Would Sepultura's arise count as thrash? I'd assume it would.

sensitiveorgan00 09-28-2004 01:26 PM

Sepultura's Arise is definitely thrash. In my opinion one of best thrash albums ever.BtR and Schizophrenia are also class acts.

Riva 09-28-2004 07:28 PM

Hey, I was in Target recently, and they had Countdown To Extinction by Megadeth, for $17.99 (Australian). What's this album like? A friend of mine said it was their version of St. Anger. My point is I would like to buy it, because it is so cheap, but I can't waste my money. So is it a good buy?

CreepingBlack 09-28-2004 08:20 PM

I like it more than Peace sells.

Countdown is an awesome album, and no it is not thier St. Anger, its not Rust In Peace, but its a good one, that album was the first one I got and it is what totally got me into Megadeth

Riva 09-28-2004 08:37 PM

Awesome! Thanks guys. I'll be sure to get it then. :thumb:

It's not St Anger, it's more of a Black Album. It's their sell-out album, if you will. Better than the Black Album, but that isn't saying much...

Arise 09-29-2004 01:46 AM

Well, I wouldn't consider it their sellout album (that would be Youthanasia), but its defenitely not as good as any of their thrash albums. It took me quite some time to get used to, but it grows on ya.

It has some seriously asskicking songs on it, and some seriously ****ty songs as well. It's not great, but def worth a listen. Keep in mind, it ain't thrash though (in fact, its the only pre-TSHF non-thrash album worth paying money for).

JMetallica 09-29-2004 04:20 AM

I wrote a post, but it went down the drain. IT pretty much said buy countdown. :thumb:

LordDargon 09-29-2004 10:12 AM

Once I heard Symphony of Destruction on the radio

SYMPHONYYYYY OF DESTRUCTION!

Shadows 09-29-2004 12:51 PM

One of the first lines I saw in this thread was that Shadows Fall is considered thrash. If that's the case then I'm probably the biggest ****ing thrash fan ever (but still a good fan even if SF isn't).

DisposableHeroes 09-29-2004 12:54 PM

SF is more metalcore than thrash, they just have slight elements of thrash in their sound
