Well, sir, I don't think we guys will ever be able to understand the workings of the female mind, but this has happened to me a lot, especially recently. With me it's generally been because she's seen me as just a friend (bloody women) and finds the sudden announcement of attraction makes things all complicated. That's my best guess anyway. I still think it's better to tell them though - best to have it out in the open and know where you stand rather than worrying about what could be.

I think it depends on how you tell them. Since you two were friends a long time, something like this seems out of the blue and maybe she just needs to deal with it, or maybe she just doesn't want to. You have to convince her to like talk about it together, because otherwise you won't talk properly again.

"Shhhhhh! I'm Listening To Reason" is one of my favourite songs of the year, it's textbook GAD. The way it just blends from the huge rock song into the drunk-sounding "La-la la la la la-la la la la la-la la la la" at the end is amazing.
