I don't know if anyone noticed but we're on one mad spaming spree here....it's getting a little boring. Let's try to keep down the spam for awhile. What do you guys say?

I'll start by trying to get back on topic......I once read in this Santana biography that Carlos was on mescaline (an extremly potent psycoactive that's chemically related to LSD) during his set at Woodstock. Turned out he delivered one of the greatest (if not the best) Woodstock proformance and it's probablly my favorite part of Woodstock behind Ten Years After's "I'm Going Home" and Country Joe's "I Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag". What's everyone's favorite song of Woodstock and why?

Lunch 10-12-2005 10:42 PM

Spamming never gets boring. Think of it as bonding.

Thats a really tough question. Aside from the ones you mentioned I really like Hendrix's and The Who's (even though this one gets a bad rap it's still very good) set. Hendrix just flat out delivered and the Who struggled through and finally put on a great version of "See Me, Feel Me" as the sun was coming up (or maybe setting, for some reason I can't remember what time they went on), but either way the lighting was great and the song carried a great atmosphere.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 10-12-2005 10:49 PM

I think the Who songs I saw were horrible and not worthy of even being on the DVD. They should've shown the Jeff Beck Group or the Incredible String Band instead. :(

thickasabrick 10-12-2005 10:50 PM

So was he actually on Mescaline, or is that just a rumour? He seems like a peyote type of guy (not being racist).

I'm not sure what my favourite performance was at Woodstock...I'll have to think about that.
I think the Who songs I saw were horrible and not worthy of even being on the DVD. They should've shown the Jeff Beck Group or the Incredible String Band instead. :(
They're sound quality was poor, but the performance was solid. The Sparks is great (amazing energy from Townshend at the start), Pinball Wizard delivers as usual (I'm not a huge fan of the song but certainly that version is no worse than any others they played), and See Me, Feel Me, as I said before was great. I don't care if you don't like the Who much, but to say their performance was horrible is clearly an overstatement. Even though the Who's show at Woodstock is notorious for being one of their worst ever, the Who at their worst live still blow a lot of bands out of the water.

Seafroggys 10-12-2005 11:00 PM

yes definitally.......i haven't seen very many who concerts, and its funny when people say how terrible their woodstock gig was...now I've seen plenty of footage from that (from TKAA) and it blows me away.

I'll have to say individualy though, Keith Moon's worst gig was the last one at Shepperton.

EDIT: Favorite Woodstock performances would be See me Feel Me and With A little help from my Friends by Joe Cocker.

Also, is there anyway to get the entire Woodstock Who performance, or for that matter, for anybody, like Hendrix?

Lunch 10-12-2005 11:02 PM

Yea, definitely. Luckily the other three are still great and can drive those performances to be amazing. It's really depressing to watch Moon on those though.

Leper 10-12-2005 11:10 PM

I've finally gotten around to downloading those Ten Years After albums. I'll probably only get one done tonight though. Frigin' dial-up.:(

Some of my favorite Woodstock performances were Country Joe, Ten Years After, and Canned Heat.

Walrus Gumboot 10-13-2005 08:12 AM

Weren't the who really drunk when they played Woodstock? I think I read that in Searching fo the Sound

I think alot of bands didn't do so well at Woodstock. Bob Wier got electrocuted
Weren't the who really drunk when they played Woodstock? I think I read that in Searching fo the Sound
They were drunk and all their drinks had been spiked with acid even though they didn't want them to be. They were also awake for over a day straight by the time they went on and they were pissed off.

Edit: Halloween'd
