*punk_rock_sophie* 01-24-2005 07:40 AM

luke!? are you here?

gelly12 01-24-2005 07:47 AM

hello people.

supercalifragilistic 01-24-2005 07:50 AM

hi all

I'm mad!
I have been checking out prices and such, and my conclusion was: For the price I'd have to pay for a MM SUB in Belgium, I could get a Stingray in the US! They ripp us off here! For once I wished I was an American.

gelly12 01-24-2005 07:52 AM

little miss machete's not bad..sounds pretty SOAD

fatbandit 01-24-2005 08:02 AM

Yes, the best description of them I've heard is 'Faith No More being buggered by System of a Down', and I think that's pretty accurate. Its nice stuff - bass drives the songs, but nothing too show-offy. Their singer is great too, very Mike Patton, especially live. I only heard of them because the bassist works in SoundControl Sheffield. They're playing a gig tonight (in Sheffield Corporation, bit far for most of you, and definitely for you yanks...) I think if anyone's interested :p

And grr, Roland are annoying me. Are they making a new 4x10 combo? or just the 1x15 and 2x10? And when the hell are they bringing them out? How much will they cost in the UK? Silly Roland, I need my amp now >.<

Rollo47 01-24-2005 09:18 AM

How are we all?

I'm bored to tears.

Wintermute 01-24-2005 09:34 AM

I'm recording random samples - for a piece of coursework I have to use a MIDI-keyed sampler to make a song out of samples I have to make myself - and none of them can be instruments. So far I've got a jingling cutlery drawer, some silliness with a fork and a colander, a slamming door or two and some tomfoolery with a biscuit tin.

Rollo47 01-24-2005 09:36 AM

Hahah, very nice. Is voice considered an instrument?

Wintermute 01-24-2005 09:38 AM

I'm not sure... I may record myself just going ooooaaaoooOOOoooeeeaauuuu and smack on a flange and some wah, make it sound really bizarre.

Rollo47 01-24-2005 09:41 AM

Yeah, that'd be cool. Also, if you have any pets..... record them making noises.

Wintermute 01-24-2005 09:43 AM

That'd be a good one, pity I left my dog back in Lancashire. I'd better get some stuff with actual notes to them, unless I decide to either go for percussive mayhem or some kind of ambient soundscape.

Rollo47 01-24-2005 09:47 AM

Wine glasses is what you need.

I'm sorry you do look kinda young there.

bottlerocket 01-24-2005 10:18 AM

I was close enough...

Alex, I have no idea what the situation of me going to England with my school is...I'm upset. I really want to go. England seems beautiful. All of Europe looks beautiful, actually. I'd love to go one day.

That's as maybe, but the only thing I'm not legally allowed to do because of my age is teach someone to drive. :p

Yeah, I know I look younger than I am. But people I've only talked to over the internet tend to guess mid-twenties, so I guess it evens out.

That's a shame, Gav, keep us updated though!

bottlerocket 01-24-2005 10:26 AM

^ Us? You and Jaco? :p

I'd love to meet Jaco/Mike. He's wicked nice around here. I do wish he posted more, though.

Wintermute 01-24-2005 10:28 AM

I'm not sure exactly why I said 'us', to be honest, but there's a couple of MXers in the area, so you never know. Machines of Hate and Sheephead are in Manchester, for a start, which is about 50 minutes from Lancaster by train.

bottlerocket 01-24-2005 10:31 AM

^ Sweet. I know Lewis Therin lives in a town that's about an hour away. DFIA lives around here, too. However, no one else here (that I know of) lives in or near Boston.

Gav, if you come to England, go to London i'll be able to meet you there! :p

Wintermute 01-24-2005 10:42 AM

You should do a full MX tour. Travel round the world staying with MXers.

fatbandit 01-24-2005 10:47 AM

Just come to Yorkshire instead, Sheffield pwns Manchester...

Wintermute 01-24-2005 10:49 AM

But Lancashire pwns Yorkshire. In fact Yorkshire used to be a part of Lancashire. As did Manchester, Merseyside, Cumbria... We were the biggest county in the country by quite some way.

Anyone remember the War of the Roses? (Coolest name for a war ever, even if it is inaccurate - the Roses were assigned as the county symbols for Lancashire and Yorkshire after the war)

Is it a coincidence that the symbol of Lancashire is also the symbol of England? Or that the Queen is also the Duchess of Lancaster?

fatbandit 01-24-2005 10:51 AM

The Queen is also German. But anyway...

I don't care what Yorkshire *used* to be, geez. Its better *now*. That's all that's important!

Wintermute 01-24-2005 10:54 AM

The Queen is slightly German. King George was German, but that was a few hundred years ago. A few hundred years of intermarriage with the English aristocracy.

The only thing I'll credit Yorkshire with is the Yorkshire Pudding.

We read about that in history last year. Then people made a movie called War of the Roses starring Michael Douglass and some other bitch. Danny DiVito was in it. It was an OK movie...wow, I just rambled.

I'd love to do an MX tour. That would kick so much ***.

What about whippets? Ferrets? Flat caps and going shooting with the gun cocked over your arm, while smoking a pipe, with your faithful dog on the Moors? What about Pulp? And the Human League? And more importantly me and my band, Nothing Makes Sense! :thumb:

bottlerocket 01-24-2005 11:00 AM
The Queen is slightly German. King George was German, but that was a few hundred years ago.
Queen Anne couldn't produce a heir, so it went to her cousin (I believe), George of Hannover. George I ruled, using an aid (whose name escapes me), and then it ws passed to George II. In turn, it went to George III, and enter the American Revolution.

With the exception of the bands you mentioned, they're just general North-England things. You can keep the whippets though.

If anything the flat-cap and dog on the moors is a Cumbrian thing.

What does "shire" (as in yorkshire, lancashire, arseshire, etc..) means?
