lol no it is incredibly worth it to spend a little time learning how to use something better. Sonar i would say is a good choice and you can get it for free if you can torrent.

http://www.myspace.com/goddessbound done in adobe audition, cube 30 output into sound card via 1.8 inch jack for guitar. ezdrummer programmed drums. mic into cube 30 output to soundcard for vocals. http://www.box.net/shared/h5c993e0az http://www.box.net/shared/vnqcf2yhog done in a pro tools studio. miced amps. ezdrummer programmed drums, output raw separate channel wav files and imported and mixed as a multitracked RL drum set. mappy on vocals for the black metal one <3 FYI the beat one is made entirely out of recorded shit. no samples http://www.box.net/shared/0oqen2itud mixed in garageband. only recorded bit was the voice, the rest just cutting and i cut some of my own samples out of tracks. |
those sound awful lol
drifting icon is much better |
cool, thanks. and nah, nothing technical, just something that will allow me to record easily without much complication.
what exactly do i need for computer recording, though? i'd only be utilizing vocals, guitar, and maybe drums
dont use audacity if you plan to do anything like a real or even rough mix you're going to need plugin support, vst or otherwise. adb is right, a simple audio interface is relatively cheap, same with a mic for your amps. and the standard audio software isnt very cpu intensive btw and it's very very very easy to get on the internet, you could get a download link for any popular quality program within minutes... i suggest searching ableton live on the pirate bay or any torrent tracker site i personally use fruity loops, i'd suggest ableton because of a simpler interface and recording audio is wayyyyy more intuitive many audio interfaces come bundled with the software free as well by the way it's well worth it because music will always be around and who knows when you'll get into it and feel like an idea would be fun and interesting to do :thumb: |

yeahp for sure, go to the closest music store and ask about entry level audio interfaces
the only things really look out for would be - how many inputs you want ( pretty much 1 or 2 for amp miccing) - firewire usb connection*(better and faster than usb 1.0 or 2.0 (it also makes smoother to play along to yourself when doing layers of tracks. Very Important.)) *make sure you have a firewire port on your computer - preamps... (if you want to record vocals you will need an interface with a preamp or buy a seperate mic preamp (maybe later on)) hm that's just about it just talk to the dude and explain clearly go for it! This is what I have, http://www.sonicftp.com/news/images/focusrite_saffire_pro24dsp.jpg Focusrite Saffire Pro 24. Pretty basic but with a bunch of pretty handy features I still have to take full advantage of. |
