Question: If Mike is back to doing vocals for Knights Of The Abyss, then why did the singer from A Breath Before Surfacing record the vocals on Shades?
I heard that Mike blew out his voice again, before recording Shades, hence why he is absent again. At this point, I wish they would just wait to record the vocals until he can recover, as out every vocalist KotA has had, he is the best. |
Wait, seriously that wasn't Mike on Shades?
He sounds exactly like Mike did towards the end of their set when I saw them in Philly, but yeah, I was expecting much better vocals for the album but it makes sense. Also, why didn't they have D-Had do vocals on Shades then? He's so much better imo. |
Wait, seriously that wasn't Mike on Shades?
I told you it wasn't when it came out, it's the guy from the better-but-still-generic A Breath Before Surfacing |
the not as good*
never thought much of a breath before surfacing
Pretty meh, with a decent song here and there.
Actually A Breath Before Surfacing is one of my favorite deathcore bands. They aren't super original, but they aren't annoyingly generic either.
guess i just never really listened that close
idk genre is getting stagnant lately for me |
Yeah I'm getting a bit pickier about what I listen to now.
the stuff i like i still listen to but i have no interest in listening to anyone 'new' to the genre
Yeah, only if someone recommends something to me will I listen to another deathcore band, though I have all of the albums from the bigger deathcore bands already, so it probably won't happen.
for sure
Suicide Silence is decent. I'm seeing them on that Beneath The Massacre/Architects tour I think.
yeah im going to that. it sucks because there was a metal festival that as blood runs black, dillinger escape plan, impending doom, and the acacia strain all were on the bill and they all dropped off, but the bill is still pretty elite. |
who else is on the bill?
Where is the venue that you are going to?
Where is the venue that you are going to?
the canal club in richmond. it's like a VA hardcore/metal festival... and the lineup is Suicide Silence, Beneath the Massacre, Emmure, Architects, After the Burial, For the Fallen Dreams, Sea of Treachery, ABACABB, American Me, We Were Gentlemen, In Alcatraz 1962, this time its war and Hackin' Jesse |
That's not bad. I've been known to drive to Richmond for shows, but not just to add Sea Of Treachery onto the bill. They're the only extra band I'm interested in.
This Time It's War and ABBACAB are two ****ing sick local bands too. They both play shows all over.
I have some ABBACAB demos and they don't really grab me, I need a full length album. Don't think they have one though.
who is ABBACAB?
yes its an anagram i know that |
They're a meh death metal band.
ok, i wont bother then, but whats the actual name of the band?
it's actually abbacab as far as i know
ABBACAB is the blood cheat from the original mortal kombat im pretty sure
Yeah, and they only have demos out as far as Im aware, which aren't all that, but most are old recordings. A few deathcore bands I haven't seen mentioned, that aren't big in the genre, and aren't utter trash, imo, are The Boy Will Drown (more of a Mathcore type band, but still heavy), Closed Casket, Emily Rose, Evita, The Eyes of a Traitor, Fate (their new recordings are very Conducting from the Grave sounding, and are awesome sounding), The Feeding, From Idle Hands, Hereafter an Odyssey, Hester Prynne, I Shot the Sheriff, Myself My Enemy, Plague of Ashitaka, Seneca, A Thousand Times Repent, Thrown to Belial and Thy Art is Murder. Yeah, I like browsing blogs.
The Boy Will Drown is like, perfect tech-death oriented deathcore.
Yeah, they're pretty tight, plus the vocalist and his range is just crazy. Can't wait for an LP from them.
some of the stuff he does sounds weak and painful as hell
as in forcing his range |
Yeah, true. Just so he doesn't throw out his voice. Apparently, from their myspace, they will be recording in October, so we will see if he changes up his range, as I've noticed some Deathcore vocalists do.
the boy will drown is pretty good
the boy will drown would be good if they weren't deathcore :)
they sound a lot like architects I kinda like them, |
http://www.myspace.com/duciel Anyone?
theyre alright, real generic and goddamn that production is just noisy
the boy will drown would be good if they weren't deathcore :) they sound a lot like architects I kinda like them,
retarded ****ing post |
http://www.myspace.com/duciel Anyone?
Decent, and with some good production they would be better. Another one I just found, that sounds rediculously similar to the pre-production demos of The Red Shore, which ironically these guys are from Australlia also: http://www.myspace.com/afallentheory |
or they fittingly ripped off the red shore cause theyre the forerunners of the aussie deathcore scene
Yeah, that too. Then again, that can be said about multiple death/metal/core bands. They are just an extreme example.
omg i thought trs is death metal
all deathcore is death metal dummy
no way man

Wow, yeah that's a lot of stuff I've seen on blogs but didn't get. |
