Any fans of Da Youngstas?

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 11-17-2008 12:53 PM
New Kanye West album leaked.

Incase anyone cares.
I care. Can you upload it? His new single was bad but the man hasn't released a bad album yet so I can only expect it'll be alot better than his single.

Does anyone anyone know why the hell Lupe is about to retire? He’s released (as far as I’m concerned) 2 of the freshest hip hop albums in recent years or any year for that matter with F&L and the Cool. His rhymes have been so intelligent and intricate he can tell a story like no-one else, now, with only 2 albums under his belt he’s arguably one of the best emcees ever. Finally a young highly intellectual emcee has been embraced by the mainstream and now he wants to end it all with only 3 albums to his name? It’s almost a crime, he has so much to say. Well….if LupEND is as fresh as his last two have been I probably wont be complaining at all I’ll be praising him as the greatest emcee ever…..we shall see. Cant wait to hear three whole discs of new Lupe though....

Anyone heard of Typical Cats?

sgrevs 11-17-2008 05:29 PM

Lupe is alright...I think that's over-rating him a bit though. Someone like Ghostface is a far superior story-teller and he consistently releases excellent albums. F&L was great by Lupe, The Cool, was ok, nothing amazing, and I imagine the new one will be in the same vein.

horseypie 11-17-2008 07:27 PM

sure lupe is retiring he is touring australia the beginning of next year :/
The Cool, was ok, nothing amazing
It's not as accessible as F&L musically but lyrically it's as good if not better. Listen to all the lyrics of "Hip Hop Saved My Life", "The Die", or "Intruder Alert" the guy is brilliant. "Paris and Tokyo" sounded like a more articulate and classier Q Tip it's my favorite Rap love song (thats besides "Otha Fish" of course). I didn't like the Cool either at first but if you really give it a chance and listen to all the lyrics you'll find something new everytime it'll grows on you if you keep listening.

I don't really think it's less accessible. I agree that those songs are good, but it's too inconsistent to be considered 'great'.

horsey, he has said that he plans on retiring after releasing his third album, which he plans on making a triple album. I don't think it will turn out too good, but who knows? I hope it is awesome.

Apocalyptic Raids 11-18-2008 12:14 AM

Lupe is boring. He's not terrible but I just find him sort of robotic and bland. As for a triple album, most mainstream rappers have enough trouble releasing an album that isn't bloated and over-long as is so I won't be bothering with it.

horseypie 11-18-2008 01:07 AM

**** me a triple album is a bit much...jeez

Jaded 11-18-2008 01:29 AM

ya know there's otha fish in the sea that is

Rams 11-18-2008 02:21 AM

That song is cool until the end. Then it drags on.

ATM 11-18-2008 12:36 PM

Never really got into Lupe much.

Lately, I've been listening to Dred Scott, Da Youngstas, and Down South.

Tyler 11-19-2008 01:21 AM

lol what

sgrevs 11-19-2008 01:39 AM

Damn Tronic so good.

kingsoby1 11-25-2008 06:19 PM

****, it's seriously amazing

i can listen to this album all day

why did you only give it a 3-and-a-half on the reivews site

pixiesfanyo 11-25-2008 07:13 PM
the title track is awesome

the rest of album is alright but i put off getting it for so long and it got a lot of hype so it sort of disappointed me a little. i still need more listens though.
it isn't really a "hit after hit" rap album, it is just an organic experience that has to be taken in as a whole. kind of like 'Tronic' which is also amazing, but really doesn't have more than one or two "amazing" tracks.

kingsoby i'm trying my hardest to get you put on contributor for the review site.

kingsoby1 11-25-2008 08:14 PM

thanks dude, def would write grips of hiphop reviews

which reminds me -- i was thinking of finishing up this ludacris review here someday

badtaste 11-26-2008 11:26 PM

Listened to D12's 'Devil's Night' and Public Enemy's 'Fear of a Black Planet' last night.

D12 album was alright, entertaining, I enjoy a nice blend of different voices. The Public Enemy album had a very nice feel to it, very alternative hip-hopesque.

horseypie 11-27-2008 07:46 PM

horseypie 12-01-2008 07:45 PM

i love the clip of dan le sac and scroobius on the british X factor covering a nate dogg song...they looked so bad and they got hacked when to see their actual music is heaps funny

StreetlightRock 12-01-2008 09:07 PM

Lol, I saw that, was hilarious.

jcfiasco 12-01-2008 11:30 PM

kingsoby1 12-01-2008 11:34 PM

no worries dude, but fyi, there's a search function at the top called "search this thread".

i don't believe anyone's discussed it, anyway... i think it's alright. some solid tracks, some stupid tracks, overall a good release for luda.

ATM 12-01-2008 11:38 PM

Downloading the new Common, anyone heard it yet?

Apocalyptic Raids 12-02-2008 09:24 PM

i heard some track off it a while back, seemed okay. kinda weird beat for common.

ATM 12-02-2008 09:34 PM

Also getting the new Scarface because apparently he plays a guitar solo on it. Should be good.

ATM 12-02-2008 09:43 PM

It's the outro of the song with Z-Ro.
