sorry im a little late, but could i get the TGP video as well?

Since I last posted here, I couldn't get into the "Awake" album, and well I still haven't been able to get into it. I did get a few favorite songs from the album though which is Mirror and the Instrumental song.

Something just doesn't pull me into the album like Octavarium did, either way still enjoyable which is moneys worth for me.

Awake is like that, I was the same for ages and thought I would never get into it. But one day I finally did. However I prefer the 2nd half of the album much more than the 1st (with the exception of Erotomania). The last 3 songs are just sublime.

Personally, I think the title track of 8vm is incredible, one of DTs best compositions ever. The rest is a bit hit and miss. I think I am one of the few people who loves I Walk Beside You :D

Lord Abortion 11-14-2005 10:51 AM

I love I walk beside you, These walls and The answer lies within, aswell as the TT off 8VM

Jev 11-14-2005 11:28 AM

I love it all.

red barchetta 11-14-2005 11:34 AM

i only really like sacrificed sons. the rest is a bit meh IMO.

Jev 11-14-2005 11:38 AM

Actually Never Enough was pretty lame.

Believe me, it will grow on you. I didn't enjoy it very much before, now I love it and listen to it all the time.:naughty:

scenesfromatheater 11-14-2005 12:26 PM

I didn't really appriciate 8V that much when I first heard it because I was comparing it to the other albums and because it's obviously not as prog as the other albums, I didn't enjoy it that much.

I now think the album is absolutly incredible. Amazing songs on there:) . The only song I dislike is Sacrificed Sons...it's just plain boring. Definatly the worst song they played live aswell.

wow... complete opposite of me.

i liked Octavarium at the start, but it turned out to be one of those albums that you get bored of straight away.

also, sacrificed sons is my favourite song off the album...

I thought it was pretty good live.

Prince of Darkness 11-14-2005 12:55 PM

Finally Free off SFAM is so good. I've never heard it until the other day, so it's a new DT song for me. I like the live one on SFNY dvd. The drumming is fukin amazing. Portnoy defanatly knows how to break down some great rolls.

But still, Danny Carey>Mike Portnoy

But after 2 hours of DT and nearly half the songs off 8V had already been played, I was wanting some more retro DT, we got a good set list though (Wolverhampton)...

Danny Carey is awesome, he probably is more skilled than MP.
But MP is still a phenomenal drummer, who writes great music for, and produces the best band on the planet :p
I like them both, but MP gets the edge for me.

I think it's a B-Side cause it's definatly not from an album.

nowitzki 11-14-2005 01:51 PM

It's one of the songs that was recorded during the FII sessions but never made it onto the album.

Lord Abortion 11-14-2005 01:58 PM

In a Raise the knife style?

That song is actually rather good.

Shattered_Future 11-14-2005 02:16 PM

I thought Speak To Me was a Pink Floyd song?

Maybe not...

I think they played A Fortune In Lies at Gigantour...good song.

nowitzki 11-14-2005 02:44 PM
I thought Speak To Me was a Pink Floyd song?
The first track on DSOTM is called Speak To Me, but its not a song, just an intro track.
I think they played A Fortune In Lies at Gigantour...good song.
They played it when I saw them in London. It's a great song.

Yeah, it was cut just like RTK. I've never heard it, apparently they played it in Wolverhampton.
