The thing is a lot of people are extremely stupid about heroin and that's what screws them. Things like using a used syringe, shooting a bag without having tested it to find the strength of it etc make heroin more dangerous. If heroin was available legally like other opiates are, it wouldn't be any more harmful than oxycontin. Really the only reason heroin is illegal and every other opiate is legal is because of the stigma attached. It works to kill pain just like all the other ones. It's abused more because it crosses the blood brain barrier faster because of the two extra ethyl molecules. it's only two molecules different from morphine

that's not really a good comparison. those aren't simialar. heroin and morphine are VERY similar. they both have anaglesic and euphoric properties, they're both opiods, they're both addictive etc. maybe that wasn't the best way to phrase what i meant but your comparison is just assinine. my point was that heroin is very similar to morphine the only difference being it crosses the blood-brain barrier faster and is therefore more euphoric

haha it was meant to be assinine. i know morphine is one ethyl away from being heroin, and actually in one of my upcoming classes we get to assemple codeine from a morphine sample :)

all opiates turn into morphine once theyre in the system, just in smaller quantities than if it were straight up morphine since it's the base and it has a reactive end that allows different things to bind to it (ethyls, hydrocarbon chains, oxy chains, etc)

i forget why heroin is stronger than morphine from a chemical perpective, though if im wrong the ethyl group connects two morphine groups so its like a double hitter

the acetyl acids make it cross the blood brain barrier faster so it converts to morphine faster and therefore hits you harder.

heroin is fun and all but the reason i don't do it is because

1 the people who sell it are always sketchy

2 the quality fluctuates so much some of it is great and some is garbage

3 a lot of it is so weak you have to shoot it for it to be worthwhile and i try to stay away from IV drug use

i would rather just take norcos because i have a reliable connection, don't have to inject and i know exactly what i'm getting
