I want the around the back fo the head ones, they're super comfy.

I like my sony ones now though, they're cool. I think I'm gonna go for the middle ones, the PMX200's or whatever, they get the best reviews and they're about £25.

AG 09-06-2006 03:25 PM

I'm quite temped by the 'shove the rubber part* in your ear and it blocks out the rest of the noise' ones, but I'm resisting because I like the look of the around the back ones.

I want people to know I'm listening to music, and I do it in style.

*no giggling at the back...I'm looking at you zoe.
*no giggling at the back...I'm looking at you zoe.
You know me too well :upset:

I used to have a pair with a 'slip on rubber part'. They really hurt my ears. I don't know if it's because they were too long for it... but they were really sore.

ChodaBoy 09-06-2006 03:32 PM

Would someone like to explain left-right politics to me, without getting all jargony. Im thick, give it to me in plain and simple terms!

ChodaBoy 09-06-2006 03:35 PM
you mean left-wing?
AG 09-06-2006 03:37 PM

I've been told so many times about the left/right divide, but I can never remember.

Left = Tory = Wants the open market to be controlled by commerce, more likely to privatise stuff.

Right = Labour = Wants the open market to be controlled by the workers, unions and the like.

Perhaps? Or it might be the other way around. LOL. GG Aidan for knowing about how your country is run.

PAJJ 09-06-2006 03:40 PM

other was round
left wing - socialism, communism style ideas etc
right wing - conservatism, capitalism etc
and labour aren't much different from the Tories now, they used to be about the people, that basically changed with new labour.

onetwo3 09-06-2006 03:44 PM

Paul, when you watched Salo did it have subtitles/dubbing so it was in English?

GurS 09-06-2006 03:46 PM

Not quite Aiden :p

Tories are right wing.

Labour is 'left' wing.

In theory, Labour is out primarily for the workers & trade unions... but that was 'Old' Labour. 'New' Labour is after a mixed economy; rather than privatizing institutions, Labour wants private companies to run public services... hence PFIs, and ****ing Jarvis.

The traditional, 'one-nation' tories weren't into privatisation - they were pragmatic to the max. Meaning they just tried to keep things the same, and whilst they opposed radical changes, they wouldn't un-do previous radical changes. It was Thatcher who went on the privatising spree. God knows what Camerons gonna do.

And this is what it's like. Trust me, I'm a (proto) politics student.

/snobbish chortle.

PAJJ 09-06-2006 03:49 PM

Zowe:
It was in Italian with English subs.
while sort of on the subject does anyone else prefer watching foreign films in the original language with subtitles instead of the dubbed English voices?

Lord Abortion 09-06-2006 03:49 PM

She is super hot.
Would someone like to explain left-right politics to me, without getting all jargony. Im thick, give it to me in plain and simple terms!
It's now conceded to be more complex than simply left and right (there's at least another 1 dimension) but basically:

proper left = Lib Dems. Lots of welfare, lots of invetment in public servicesm high taxes, greater social freedoms. Oppose nuclear power and cool stuff like that. Naive to some.

shade left = labour. a bit of the above, to lesser extents. Basically should be about helping those who can't/won't help themselves. Fairly high taxes, fairly large investment. Ironically have passed and tried to pass "anti terror" (but pro fear ) legislation that limits freedoms.

Shade right = consevratives atm. Dave cameron is not a very right wing politician but they basically stand for lower taxes, more autonomy in general... But stricter limitations on things like immigration. encourage private schools and healthcare.

Far right = BNP: racist, pro guns, anti immigration etc. Basically nazis.

Oh okay.

I'd rather read subtitles because if it was dubbed I'd no doubt spend most of the film laughing!

GurS 09-06-2006 03:53 PM

Lib Dems, by defination, can't be left. Liberalism's basically a right-wing ideology. In fact, in VERY VERY VERY simple terms, you can basically boil it down to:

left = socialism
right = liberalism

BNP, racists etc are just extreme liberals - just without the belief in universalism.

In fact, screw that: basic left-wing is this:

Left = collectivism
Right = individualism.

That's a better way of explaining it.

PAJJ 09-06-2006 03:53 PM

Hey Gur
good holiday?

GurS 09-06-2006 03:55 PM

Yeh, not too bad, though I'm absolutley wiped. Thank god I'm taking a gap year, I can take two weeks out of life to recover :D

AG 09-06-2006 03:56 PM

I might be going to her house tomorrow topaint her room :)

Shame she's like 23 or something. With a very cool kid :)

Lord Abortion 09-06-2006 03:57 PM

I'm a big fan of David Cameron's policies.

ChodaBoy 09-06-2006 03:59 PM

Cameron seems to a fan of Ali G and his thoughts on politics.

Lord Abortion 09-06-2006 04:00 PM

Seriously Aidan, you have to try and do her.

onetwo3 09-06-2006 04:01 PM

rofl
That's what they call it nowadays :p

Can you ask her where she got her red, spotty balconette top?

GurS 09-06-2006 04:01 PM

We did an in-depth analysis of Cameron's policies.... he's a huge shmush of one-nation tories, thatcherism and modern liberalism.

A bit like Blair :D

AG 09-06-2006 04:02 PM

For the sake of men everywhere?

Lord Abortion 09-06-2006 04:02 PM
For the sake of men everywhere?

Update on the film:
The bodyguard people have just held a naked ceremony for a a teenage boy and girls wedding.
Now they are both in a room having sex whilst being watched by the bodyguard people. Okay, now one of the bodyguard people is licking out the girl whilst another, male bodyguard humps his bum.

I've got no clue what the story is because there arn't any subtitles :(
