That is on a need-to-know basis and unless you all show up at my HQ with a loaded 9mm then you don't need to know.

What's up everyone?

So, at the NAMM convention the other day, I met up with a drummer buddy of mine, and we got to talking a bit. I went over there to his place to jam (he's got a makeshift studio for a house) about 2 months ago or so, and his guitarist buddy, Dan, came over. Anyway, my buddy told me that Dan was asking about me, that he really dug my style, how I played, and wants to get together again. So my drummer buddy, and his singer buddy were at NAMM and they asked me if I wanted to go jam some of their songs, learn them, and then record them. So I'm pretty stoked about that. Good times!
what kind of music do they play joe?
Well, it's kind of odd.... The drummer is like, hardcore into prog-rock, old and new, and he's a totally bad *** on the drums. The guitarist is into like 80's heavy metal from what I remember, the singer dude has written songs for them from everything from punk to prog. I'm more into reggae-ish, punk type beats, and anything Costello. So last time we jammed it came out kind of funky, but it sounded pretty cool. I'm not sure about the songs they already have written, but I'm pretty sure they're more along the lines of rock with a bit of punk influence, but that's just from what I've heard before, so I could be totally wrong.

It's kind of funny, because everyone else is like, in their 30's, and have played in tons of bands, and have lots of experience. I'm 23 and the only thing I can boast as a band were a few buddies eho got drunk and played Misfits and Sublime covers at parties at out fraternity house

I've been on kind of a hiatus lately. I think I saw the thread, but I never read it. Why do I have a feeling that right now, there is a storm of little bassists running into that thread ready to ask some of the most rediculous questions they possibly could?

Have a look in the Resources section - You missed the questions that went to Wooten and the answers we got back.

JoeDaddio 01-23-2005 12:58 PM

So did I tell you guys that I got to meet Leland Sklar? I got my picture taken with him, I was so stoked. I talked to him for a couple of minutes, and he's probably one of the nicest people I've met. It was totally awesome.
