It amazes me how many kids actually think this way :-\

Hopefully they'll grow out of it.
Those are the bands that every kid like that listens to also :p It always makes me chuckle when I see a person meet the description of a stereotype.
Well good thing I wasn't talking about Strange Days.
Oh, no. A kid in my school wrote an amazing piece in the editoral about "Rap is Crap" about how our school dance didn't play any classic rock, techno or Weird Al and he asks the question "how do you dance to Rap!" (He isn't very good looking and hung out by the water fountain the whole time) . He trys to act like a hipster and music know it all but when I talk to him I just spin circles around him, the only CR he likes is Led Zep and "the greatest band of all time" ACDC!!!! I should write the article out its really funny. One great quote I remember is "Hip-hop is the lowest form of music..." he goes on to tell why. I can't find the paper now its in my locker or else I'd show some more great quotes..

I'm thinking bout writing a counter-editoral.

Lunch 10-09-2005 08:03 PM

Oh and Entwistle > Lennon. Yea, I went there.

/Stirs up thread.

Do please write one...people like that bug the hell out of me.
Oh and Entwistle > Lennon. Yea, I went there.

I don't like Lennon very much and I love Entwistle, but he was really only a good bass player...he was a pretty poor songwriter (aside from "My Wife").

np: Bob Marley - One Foundation

Lunch 10-09-2005 08:10 PM

I know, there's no way I could possibly argue Entwistle over Lennon anywhere but instrumental ability, but it was fun while it lasted. Boris the Spider is gold though.

Oh bitch you went there.

Entwistle is god on bass, but Lennon is just god on life. He's ultimate.

And its Sean's b-day too, as well as my aunts.

Now time to start my Lennon tribute...np Mother.

Lunch 10-09-2005 08:17 PM

Time to start the Entwistle tribute. Heaven and Hell, LaL.

Glitterati 10-09-2005 08:24 PM

Anyone like Joe Jackson?

Seafroggys 10-09-2005 08:31 PM

No.

My Lennon tribute so far has consisted of Mother, How, Instant Karma, Gimme Some Truth, and now I'm working on some Beatles stuff. np Day in the Life

Imagine shall be last.
Anyone like Joe Jackson?
yeah, your thread got me into him. that album is good.

BludgeonySteve 10-09-2005 08:32 PM

and I burned a jazz record.

Just kidding. I've been listening to the Beatles quite a bit.

RockAndRoll 10-09-2005 08:35 PM
I ain't kidding, for every great song The Doors recorded, there's an unlistenable one to even it out. The only real weak link on Straight Outta Compton is Parentel Discretion Iz Advised or 8 Ball.
I wasn't kidding either. The doors recorded alot more great music than terrible ****, and they put out some great albums.

clown_phobia 10-09-2005 08:39 PM

hey illmatic got the 47000th post.

I've also been playing a lennon tribute. Lennon's beatles songs as well as solo stuff. now i'm just playing through different beatles albums, ATM abbey road

It irritates me how many people at my school are like that. Yeah, like Linkin Park is much fucking better.

Heaven and Hell
Trick of the Light

Two of the best Who songs.
A little late, but it had to be said.

BludgeonySteve 10-09-2005 09:40 PM

That thread was great. Well done.

Leper 10-09-2005 09:56 PM

My Uncle decided to give a bunch of his old records and tapes away, I got some good ones:

Cassette:

The Who- The Who By Numbers
Boston- Self Titled, and Third Stage
Joe Walsh- You Can't Argue With a Sick Mind (live)
Jethro Tull- Crest of a Knave
John Fogerty- Centerfield
Rolling Stones- Made in the Shade (kind of a partial best of album)
John Mellencamp- Uh-Huh, The Lonesome Jubilee, and Scarecrow
Pete Townshend- White City A Novel
Roger Hodgson- In the Eye of the Storm
The Cult- Electric

Vinyls:

The Eagles- The Long Run
The Cars- Self Titled
and a Bad Company album I can't remember the name of.

magicbus 10-09-2005 10:21 PM

I think I need some more psychedelic music.

Leper 10-09-2005 10:28 PM
I think I need some more psychedelic music.
I think I agree with you. But in regards to me :D

Edit: Btw magicbus I love the new avatar :thumb:

magicbus 10-09-2005 10:41 PM

I thought I could keep Belushi forever, but I just had to show some love to Harrison. He's my favorite musician. And I continue to dig All Things Must Pass.

MBS 10-09-2005 10:56 PM

The question is: who DOESN'T continue to dig All Things Must Pass? Such a wonderful album.

NP: Lover, You Should Have Come Over - Jeff Buckley

Leper 10-09-2005 11:04 PM

My Cousin, who has a very respectable taste in music for the most part (aside from the fact that he hates Jethro Tull :o) has been preaching this band called Coheed and Cambria to me for a while. I uploaded one of their cds onto my computer, and have listened to most of it, and so far I really don't see the appeal.:-/

What Trick of the Light is Entwistle? I always assumed Entwistle sung his own songs.

Okay I'm looking at the Who Are You booklet, and holy crap most of the songs are Entwistles! It also says that the sweet sounding guitar licks that make up the song is a heavily distorted 8 string bass that John plays. Amazing, this is easily the best song on that album, and one of the better Who songs period.

Leper 10-09-2005 11:35 PM

I didn't know Entwistle wrote any of the Who's songs.

clown_phobia 10-10-2005 12:00 AM
I didn't know Entwistle wrote any of the Who's songs.
yeah he wrote a few of them, not a whole lot though
It irritates me how many people at my school are like that. Yeah, like Linkin Park is much fucking better.
Huh...? What does Linkin Park have to do with anything?

Leper 10-10-2005 12:16 AM

Is anyone here into Ten Years After? I heard a song of theirs a little while ago and have been wanting to get into them.

Illmatic 10-10-2005 12:21 AM

I've only heard "I'd Love to Change The World" and the songs they did at Woodstock, but I liked those songs.
