This is why I wish every member of slipknot would drop dead.

I used to really be into slipknot back in 6th grade lmao. That was 7 years ago.

Shred Danson 09-12-2007 11:37 AM

I was the only kid that hated Slipknot in my 6th grade class. Everyone thought I was weird because I didn't listen to Korn or Slipknot or Limp Bizkit or Coal Chamber. I was just obsessed with Metallica, Maiden, and Cannibal Corpse *shrugs*

Moon Flavor 09-12-2007 11:49 AM

I still absolutely love the first Korn album...

But that's besides the point.

On the topic of favorite death metal band, I'd have to say Impaled because they're one of the very few death metal bands that's consistent from release to release (at least in my mind).

Past that, most of the extreme metal I listen to on a regular basis is too avant-gardey or tech to really be considered death metal.

rattlehead42147 09-12-2007 11:55 AM

i have to say, the first korn album was decent. i hate it compared to what i listen to now but it had its good points.

Metallica isn't much better TBQFH!! :p

Squirrel 09-12-2007 12:04 PM
the riff on the song spheres of madness from Nihility is hilarious its so generic to me. its just drop C with the top 3 strings hit open in certain rhythm.
Except its not drop C and its a fantastic riff that utilises rhythm over a progression. Its not a breakdown either so, yeah.
Metallica isn't much better TBQFH!!
**** you yes they are

Sanford 09-12-2007 12:08 PM

Slipknot really does have a low talent level. Every single, and I mean every song uses the same chord patterns, I guess you could call it phrygen or whatever that Mexican like scale is. Joey isn't as good as everyone says, even listen to Adler, he's way better and more technical. The singing sucks, the bass doesn't exist, and forget what the other useless people they put in the band and I don't care, they stink too.

Yes, metallica is way better.

Squirrel 09-12-2007 12:09 PM

The guitarists, outside of the band, are actually pretty talented and skilled.
Slipknot really does have a low talent level.
As much as I hate that band, that's just not true. I won't even bother explaining why. If you listen to the musicians individually and knew their backgrounds in music you'd understand. They just fail as a band.

Sanford 09-12-2007 12:10 PM

Completely agreed. Vogg's good.

Squirrel 09-12-2007 12:11 PM

Definitely; fantastic guitarist, VERY clean live and writes some great material.

Plus the age factor!

Sanford 09-12-2007 12:13 PM

Well they can write music. I'll agree that some of them really can play, but the band does stink. Of course in my opinion, I respect that some people do still like them, hell even I did at one point. I've just heard and regularly listen to better musicians.

Sanford 09-12-2007 12:15 PM

Hmm, haven't seen 'em live yet, really anticipating to though.

Yep, aging produces wisdom. Especially in music imo.

Shred Danson 09-12-2007 12:16 PM

When my band played with them earlier this year they were sloppy as hell. But that could also be due to them being extremely drunk.

Squirrel 09-12-2007 12:17 PM

Decapitated?

If so, they used to be tight as hell, but these days theyre so drunk and stoned off their asses its inhuman.

Shred Danson 09-12-2007 12:21 PM

Yeah.

It was funny as hell though :p

Sanford 09-12-2007 12:29 PM

They need AA. So I can go have a good time at their concert if I ever get to see them before their permed.
Except its not drop C and its a fantastic riff that utilises rhythm over a progression. Its not a breakdown either so, yeah.
whatever drop D? i dont care. that riff might sound cool to you but theres no denying there's nothing to it technically which was all i was trying to say, plus i think it sounds really bland. i never said it was a breakdown either.
not that everything has to be technical either, just that riff is about as simple as they come.

It is a fantastic riff...I dont like the vocals much but that riff is far from generic as someone stated earlier...the rest of the song needs some variation but the 3 riffs they do use are really good.

And as far as Slipknot...Joey is an average drummer at best, just watching the RR 25th DVD its obvious he doesnt have near the talent of Mike Smith (thats a no brainer anyways) or even the guy from Ill Nino. The only guitar solos I ever heard were just the Kerry King shred type but never any real creativity.

wrong again. they play in d standard and the riffs in that song are sick as hell. they are really fun to play as well.

you know, you should get your facts straight before you try to belittle a band....

can anyone explain to me why cryptopsy is seen as a good band?

/controversy

Eliminator 09-12-2007 03:04 PM

they aren't really a good band at all.

RouteOne 09-12-2007 03:07 PM

thats what I think lets rock eliminator

RiceMonster 09-12-2007 03:09 PM

Cryptopsy is pretty good, but very overrated. At least that's what I think. Lord Worm is especially overrated. He's not all that great, and sometimes kind of annoying.
