This thread is slowly dying....*tear

Carne Evil 03-18-2006 11:00 PM

So long as the Beatles remain popular this thread will not die.

blue3 03-19-2006 12:45 AM

Yes it will.

Nic__ 03-24-2006 03:49 AM

Name 5 Beatles songs I have never heard. The winner will recieve a e-clap on the back.

Jacaranda 03-24-2006 07:44 AM

Name two Beatles songs any regular in this thread hasn't heard... I'm pretty sure everyone here has heard everything by them.

BassMasterMike88 03-24-2006 11:44 AM

I don't know, theres a lot of tracks off of In the Begining that are pretty obscure.

It's getting close.

Lately I've been really getting into Help!. I had never really listened to all of it before, but I love all of the songs on it. The first line of "The Night Before" has an awesome melody, and "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" is just plain good.

I used to have the Past Masters Vol. 1 years ago before I gave it to a friend a long time ago. It had all of those, short of I Call Your Name, I think.

Revolver is such a nice album to listen to when you're bored during any class in school :)

pigonthewing82 03-29-2006 09:07 PM

I've been obsessed with In My Life this week. I even learned it on guitar yesterday. Like most Beatles songs its really fun to play. I'm still trying to find the keybord solo transcribed. Great song. I've been obsessed with the entire Yellow Submarine soundtrack as well. It's All Too Much is a great song too.

Seafroggys 03-31-2006 01:02 AM

i've been obsessed with In My Life for like, 5 years!

I learned it on bass like sophmore year, when i was trying to learn bass (didn't learn much, just a few riffs and songs) but at least I can play it!

Leper 03-31-2006 01:28 AM

In My Life has been one of my 2 favourite Beatles songs for a solid 3 years now. The other song has changed numerous times. I love the deeply personal lyrics though, and the melody is beautiful.

Ephemeral 03-31-2006 11:25 AM

In My Life is a beautiful song, and to think that they were pretty young when they wrote it. It is pretty deep.

StrawberryFieldsForever 03-31-2006 12:28 PM
The only one I can think of is "While My Guitar Gentyl Weeps."
:)
I like Here Comes the Sun better than Blue Jay Way...but i do agree, While My Guitar Gently Weeps is the best Harrison song. Claptons solo's are heart-melting, and the beggining is beautiful.

And IMO, Something is over-rated, still good.

El_Goodo 03-31-2006 07:54 PM

While were talking about obscure songs, I Call Your Name is one of my favourite Beatle tracks. I love the hook/chorus "Ooo I can't sleep at night, but just the same, I don't weep at night, I Call your name!"

Seafroggys 03-31-2006 10:12 PM

obscure Beatles songs? You mean from their earlier days?

I've always liked Tell Me What You See....though I don't know if thats obscure or not.

JonG 03-31-2006 10:54 PM

The solo in In My Life is amazing.

I've been liking Please Please Me for a bit now. Revolver never gets old.

The sped up piano played by George Martin?

Yeah, it's pretty cool.

Any of you see that 'Chaos and Creation at Abbey Road' awhile back with Paul McCartney?

Yeah, me too. But interesting none the less to see.

MidnightRider 04-01-2006 04:37 PM

I watched that, it was pretty cool. I liked the live footage.

StrawberryFieldsForever 04-01-2006 07:17 PM

I've never seen any Beatles live footage...it makes me ashamed. The closest I've seen is like A Hard Day's Night.

superjoe 04-01-2006 07:24 PM

np: white album disc 1

purgatory 04-01-2006 07:50 PM

I love The Beatles! My favorite song would have to be While My Guitar Gently Weeps!

Seafroggys 04-01-2006 08:18 PM

i have Shea Stadium 1965 and Budokan? Stadium 1966 on DVD. I don't know how to rip video though.
The solo in In My Life is amazing.
Yeah I've been trying to learn it on guitar, its not that hard but I still can't seem to get it to sound right, or at least the way I want it to. I would love to find a keybord player to jam on that song with. Mabye I would be able to think up way to play the solo if an actual keyboard led me into it.

I'm also trying to learn Strawberry Feilds Forever and I Am The Walrus. I've only practiced the chords and singing for both, but I want to try to get a solo or two down for both of them. I would love to be able to play a really trippy cover of I Am The Walrus. I've been fooling around with playing the chords with the tremolo effect on my amp. It sounds interesting, but not so much I'm sure I'm going to keep it.

El_Goodo 04-02-2006 10:40 PM

Oasis does a mean cover of I Am The Walrus!

blue3 04-02-2006 10:43 PM

I've never heard it. Name change?

Leper 04-03-2006 01:19 AM

I'd really love to see the Shea Stadium performance. I actually didn't know it was released on DVD. I'm gonna have to keep a watchfull eye out for it now.

Seafroggys 04-03-2006 01:36 AM

my uncle made me a DVD with the Shea Stadium concert on it....problem is I don't know how to rip video.

MBS 04-03-2006 05:48 PM
I saw some from their early American appearances a while back, but nothing since then, or from their heyday. Then again there isn't that much live footage going around, I think. :-/
I'm trying to get the Let It Be DVD to no avail. :upset:

Seafroggys 04-03-2006 06:33 PM

i own Let it Be on a video copies from a video copies from a video that I think was copies from a video....not sure

Anyways, its at least a 3rd generation recording....the original VHS release was from like 1981....so you can already know the quality of the tape I got.
Oasis does a mean cover of I Am The Walrus!
I heard Frank Zappa did a cover of the song too. I would love to hear it because, well, that song sound right up Zappa's ally.

That's happened to me too. I've had Abbey Road, Magical Mystery Tour and 1 for a long time, then I got Rubber Soul and Revolver recently after my friend got me onto a huge Beatles kick. Revolver never gets old, no matter how many times it gets played.

MidnightRider 04-03-2006 07:51 PM
I've never seen any Beatles live footage...it makes me ashamed. The closest I've seen is like A Hard Day's Night.
I've only seen the clips off of the Anthology.
