Can anyone recommend me some Destruction?
Anything with Schmier as the vocalist.

CaptainWaits 01-07-2005 05:49 PM
Don't forget Mad Butcher and Sentence of Death :thumb:
Thos 2 r pretty good......but I don't think any thing compares to their early releases

RCA 01-07-2005 06:34 PM
belt of nail = tr00

belt of ammo = tr00er

NP: Whiplash - Burning of Atlanta

EDIT: You can download Intruder albums at their site.

enjoy.
Thhhraaasshhhh!!!!! \m/ \m/ Thanks for that link!

Anyone listen to Pagan War Machine? Jim Durkin of Dark Angel is in that band.

metal-militia 01-07-2005 07:45 PM
Thos 2 r pretty good......but I don't think any thing compares to their early releases
they ARE the early releases

Sentence of Death was the first EP and Mad Bucther was before Release from Agony.

TheCrown 01-07-2005 07:47 PM

I am a noob, how do you join clans? Also, would you consider The Crown thrash, they are Thrash/Death. If so, I think I will chose HIH.
I am a noob, how do you join clans? Also, would you consider The Crown thrash, they are Thrash/Death. If so, I think I will chose HIH.
First and foremost, you must have listened to Dark Angel's "Darkness Descends" album.

The Crown...I can't remember if I liked them or not...

RCA 01-07-2005 10:11 PM

Sorry for the double post...

I just got a couple of albums, demos, and assorted tracks (cd-r) in a trade, and they are currently available to d/l from me off of Soulseek. This stuff OWNS. HARD.

Name = Dragunov-metal

TheCrown 01-07-2005 10:20 PM

But seriously, what must I do to join?

CaptainWaits 01-07-2005 10:40 PM
they ARE the early releases

Yeh but they're both Ep's, and I meant "releases".

sensitiveorgan00 01-07-2005 11:11 PM
That's a problem, why?
Well, I'm still in school. And it's hard for me to find a ride BACK from the show, unless I'm going with someone who can either give me a ride, or take the bus with me. It's not like a real major problem, but it's that my friends (who provide the ride) usually don't go to concerts on weekdays.
This means that I must learn the bus schedule for buses after 12am. Aye.

FatalEnergy 01-08-2005 12:09 AM

I've had Darkness Descends for like 2 years now, but I finally just now got Leave Scars, We Have Arrived, and Time Does Not Heal........which is really cool and stuff

FatalEnergy 01-08-2005 12:47 AM

I am going to commit metal blasphemy and say..........Time Does Not Heal > Darkness Descends

SLATANIC-666 01-08-2005 03:46 AM

^^ Can't comment about that because I only have Darkness Descends. I want all their albums but there either too expensive or just not available.

metal-militia 01-08-2005 05:59 AM

I prefer Darkness Descends becuase Doty's vocals are better than Rinehart's, but Leave Scars is still good.

Animosity, he asked for any Destruction and Sentence of Death is some of their best work.

ThrashMaster27 01-08-2005 06:55 AM

Shock Horror! I think Darkness Descends is highly overrated. Shoot me if you will, but it's my opinion.

Apocalyptic Raids 01-08-2005 07:00 AM

i wish darkness descends would get a nice shiny remaster, so i can actualy pick out the riffs :D

Epicurus 01-08-2005 08:11 AM

Has Anyone mentioned Darkest hour?

RCA 01-08-2005 10:52 AM
I am going to commit metal blasphemy and say..........Time Does Not Heal > Darkness Descends
Not blasphemy, I feel DFA concentrated on their songwriting more on that album.
i wish darkness descends would get a nice shiny remaster, so i can actualy pick out the riffs
It was remastered. The production isn't that bad on the original either, nice and raw to complement the brutal skullfvck that is the music of that album.

CaptainWaits 01-08-2005 10:55 AM

^^Yeh I like Time Does Not Heal more

RavenousMetalist87 01-08-2005 10:59 AM

Enemy of God comes out in 3 days for the U.S.

Anyone going to look foward to it?

ForiegnPenguin 01-08-2005 11:45 AM

Oh yes. I heard one of the songs on Music Choice the other day. Sounds sick.

RCA 01-08-2005 12:37 PM
Enemy of God comes out in 3 days for the U.S.

Yep!

NP: Nuclear Assault - Brainwashed

ForiegnPenguin 01-08-2005 01:06 PM

Is Whiplash any good?

metal-militia 01-08-2005 01:08 PM

Yes, Whiplash are great. Best Albums are Power and Pain, and Insult to Injury.

Argh, have to wait till the 17th for Enemy of God :(

ForiegnPenguin 01-08-2005 01:14 PM

Thanks man.

RavenousMetalist87 01-08-2005 01:15 PM

metalmilitia, that ****ing sucks that you have to wait so long :upset:

I know I have to wait only a few more days, but it feels like eternity. I hope they don't push the release to a later date like how Slayer did with Still Reigning...it felt like it was going to take forever for them to release it.

LordDargon 01-08-2005 01:23 PM

Right now, Incubus - Serpent Temptation is completely, totally, blowing my mind. You guys need to get it NOW if you don't have it.
another edit: I just looked at the lyrics on Metal-Archives, they are severe christian crap! One of the lines is actually "Follow God and you will be saved." Oh well, doesn't prevent them from being one of the most extreme thrash bands I've ever heard :chug:

Also, you can download this band's demo at their site:
www.desilence.de

Enjoy.

EDIT: As for the guy who asked about Whiplash, I only have Ticket to Mayhem, which is great!

DisposableHeroes 01-08-2005 02:29 PM
Shock Horror! I think Darkness Descends is highly overrated. Shoot me if you will, but it's my opinion.
I agree with you there, its good but compared to Leave Scars and Time Does Not Heal it pales in comparison.

BludgeonySteve 01-08-2005 02:31 PM

I'm really digging Testament right now. Thank you to whoever reccomended them to me a while ago ;)

metal-militia 01-08-2005 02:42 PM

Whats Time Does Not Heal like? Is it worth buying? I thought about getting it, but I thought I wouldn't like it becuase I prefer the Doty era.

Iai 01-08-2005 02:42 PM

Aren't Incubus a NWOBHM band? I stumbled across them searching for Brandon Boyd's Incubus while putting my CD collection on to rateyourmusic.com. Or is it Opprobruim [Incubus]?

Ah, too many bands called Incubus.

Edit: never mind, I checked and it's Opprobrium [Incubus]. http://rateyourmusic.com/view_album_details/album_id_is_107310 What's the deal? Did they have to change their name when the other Incubus became famous, or something?

LordDargon 01-08-2005 02:43 PM

I still haven't even got it ( ) but it's prog thrash with huge amounts of riffs.

NP: Dark Angel - Death is Certain

never gets old

Iai: It's Opprobrium (Incubus). I'm surprised you've heard of them.

DisposableHeroes 01-08-2005 02:44 PM

Well in my eyes Ron was always superior to Doty, they sound slightly similar at times. But yeah Time Does Not Heal is worth it alone just for the title track

RCA 01-08-2005 02:49 PM
Whats Time Does Not Heal like? Is it worth buying? I thought about getting it, but I thought I wouldn't like it becuase I prefer the Doty era.
Ron Rinehart sounds strangely like Don Doty, only less harsh of a voice. You'd like TDNH. :thumb:

I still love Darkness Descends though, and I can't wait for Darkness Returns and that DVD they were going to release.

DisposableHeroes 01-08-2005 02:52 PM

Its funny, cos even Gene thought Don sucked

LordDargon 01-08-2005 02:57 PM

Don Doty could kick your as.s and you know it.

MORTIS!
Decaying, the ruins fall swift to the ground
the carnage is morbid and great
mephitic deathstench of corpses abounds
the earth meets it's untimely fate
horrific malignancy
spreading it's wings
across the expanse of the sky
contamination and all that it brings
THE JUDGES COMMIT GENOCIIIIIDE!

Best lyrics of any song EVER!

DisposableHeroes 01-08-2005 03:00 PM

Didnt Gene write most of the lyrics when he joined?

LordDargon 01-08-2005 03:01 PM

Yeah, he did, but Don did an awesome job on vocals.

Iai 01-08-2005 03:01 PM
Iai: It's Opprobrium (Incubus). I'm surprised you've heard of them.
Heard of them, yeah, but only via association with Boyd's Incubus, and finding their stuff when searching for Inkubus Sukkubus (a vageuly gothic British band who are fairly local to me). I've never actually heard their music.

DisposableHeroes 01-08-2005 03:03 PM
Yeah, he did, but Don did an awesome job on vocals.
I prefer them on We Have Arrived than on Darkness Descends, what do you think of Ron?
