"Into Eternity" came out in 1993 as well, and it's got a lot of melodic junk on it. Eucharist's "A Velvet Creation" came out in 93 as well.
Basically there was far too much going on to bother bitching about who influenced what more.
yeah you'd have to actually ask the musicians -_- |
I like And the World Returned. It has nice guitar harmonies.
both of those albums rule
Basically there was far too much going on to bother bitching about who influenced what more.
Gardens of Grief was 91, Red in the Sky is Ours was 92 and With Fear I kiss the Burning Darkness was 93. Dark Tranquility and In Flames were also very well known by the time their debuts came out. I won't deny the influence of Dissection (although I think much of their stuff is supremely gay) though. I like trying to work out the chronology of scenes and their influences. Which is why I laugh when people say Ablaze in the Northern Sky wasn;t that important - if you were there you'd know. It changed EVERYTHING! Although melodic death metal is cack in the extreme nowadays, at the time it was a cool scene. There was a great mid-90s band from the UK called Necropsy who were great, Eucharist were godly, Crown of Thorns etc etc. Everyone these days have just forgotten the death metal part. I saw In Flames at Wacken in 2003 and they invited me to Jump Da Fukk up; I declined their invitation. Legions: Hope you're OK mate. Is your email the same one I've been using the last few years? |
Sad to hear you're leaving us Legions, take care.
|
haha yeah i saw an in flames video and the singer yelled JUMP DA FUKKK UPPPP and the crowd JDFU'd

 I must really check this band Eucharist...I remember their albums were very hard for me to find online, and once I had gotten one, I was very disappointed. But I can never have enough real melodic death. |
their albums arent hard to find at all
|
Melodic death sucks. I like disharmony in my music, all the time.
I like old In Flames, though. I like Dan Swano but then again it's too technical in some points. i'll go buy a death-reeking muffin at the moment, yes. I hope. Yes. |

a little of both is always nice though, if you like disharmony, I suggest you check out Solefald's Neonism, (avant-garde, post-black) its quite cool, unlike anything |
what the hell is post black
|
Yeah, I've never heard of post black either. Sounds pretty dumb, though.
|
E minor arpeggios with a lot of feedback, probably.
|
Sounds lame.
