that's a pretty bad album name
edit: and i dunno what it means |
it basically means really stupid and offensive and silly and vulgar
if anyone here is in toronto arif's gonna be playing with a couple of country acts (both are awesome, especially jack marks) thursday at dakota's. probably like 50 songs or some shit. it's always a good time and jack is tryin' to raise money for his european tour so you should stop by if you're into folky country gonna bump this because i just got some cool info on the cover and album title, i'm gonna write it up for another site and i'll pass the link on when it's up. |
here you go guys don't say i never do anything for you

That's actually pretty cool.
I dig the art as well, I mean I'd obviously prefer an exploding planet, but I like it none the less. |

http://www.aux.tv/newmusic/music-news/protest-the-heros-album-title-and-cover-explained/
Neato! Thanks dude! |
So excited ^_^ I love seeing these guys, especially Rody's rants in between songs.
|
One time I saw them he went on about white guys having dreads being a funny thing, despite their drummer used to have dreads, and the sound guy at the venue had dreads, and I have dreads...
|
Rody's shirt with the kitty cat and the butterflies is fucking metal. I want one.
|

http://www.aux.tv/newmusic/music-news/protest-the-heros-album-title-and-cover-explained/
ugh, not digging Rody's new hairstyle. |
that's an old pic
|
then i'm not digging his old hairstyle
|
yeah that pic is like four years old haha
|
moe's hair also freaked me out
|
The dreads were a bad idea. Arif's hair is hilarious. He should go back to the Slash hair he had when they were first starting out.
Arif and Rody to my knowledge.
Let's hope the split is like 70/30 in favor of Arif. The new artwork looks like it could have been done by that guy in Baroness. |
I donno if you saw the link I posted, but it was done by Arif's grandfather in the 50s. It's a piece called "Scurrilous".
Now that I've told you this, click this link five times. http://www.aux.tv/newmusic/music-news/protest-the-heros-album-title-and-cover-explained/ |
I saw the link. Hence "could have been done."
|
Don't sass me.
|
Tyler - Any idea on the relation between the title of the painting (Scurrilous) and what's going on therein? I get that the chick is 'baiting' the animals, but I wonder if there's some mythology I'm missing out on...
|
It's probably just so named because of how the absurd the content within is. If there's any deeper meaning I'm not sure, but you also have to contextualize it as being painted in 1950s Iran. Under the assumption of 50s Iranian society being a pretty strict and proper one, you can see where the notion of it being a 'scurrilous' painting comes from.
But honestly I have no idea. |
...or maybe use of psychotropics runs in the family.
|
Apparently they're playing a few new songs in Europe.
- “C’est la Vie” - “The Reign of Unending Terror” - “Dunsel” I'd imagine videos will pop up soon? |
Saw em last night supporting darkest hour and they played those 3 new songs. Sound very promising, seems like the guitars are stepped back a little and letting Rody's vocals do a bit more, but I dunno, just wait until the album and listen again.
Show was great though. 'Y'know having a small penis does have it's advantages...every blowjob is a deep throat'. A LOT of people left after pth so dh had a smaller crowd. |
There was a definite plan to have the guitars define themselves a little more this time around, I think I said I'd heard that months ago and I'm glad it's true.
|
I can't see how the guitars could be more defined. Also they should release this already.

Sorry, missed a few words there. More defined as in distinction between rhythm and lead and more fleshed out as opposed to just non stop leads. |
Ohh ok that makes sense. Non-stop leads were fitting quite well. Hope they are not trying to make it easier to listen. Anyway, I'm sure they'll make it work, whatever they are trying now.
|
in other words the band is going away from what makes them good to being with
|
or they're just expanding their sound
just realized Dunsel is a Star Trek reference full track list 1. C’est la Vie 2. Hair-Trigger 3. Tandem 4. Moonlight 5. Tapestry 6. Dunsel 7. The Reign of Unending Terror 8. Termites 9. Tongue-Splitter 10. Sex Tapes |

Yeah that makes sense from what they played. Stoked to hear the album. |
