it's probably ATLEAST 5-6 years old, which means it's got a bit of wear under it, but if it still sounds good definatly go for it. my school has a pair of new beats with the zildjian logo capitalized, outlined, but not filled in, and they sound amazing, i think they're 15''s and i would easily pay $40 for 'em.

Well...my flat hats are at least 5 years old and they have the regular logo?

HeLLmO 11-04-2006 07:11 AM

well, then they are older than that, maybe 10 years?

Inkstar 11-04-2006 07:42 AM

Yo, just thought I'd say I went round my mates place this arvo and tried out his UFIP Natural Series hats.

BEAUTIFUL. Absouletely loved them. Closed and open, exactly the sounds I wanted. I might buy them off him because he says he's bored with them now hah.

Chris 11-04-2006 04:11 PM

^^^
Natural are nice, but i found that they where a tad to heavy.

Class Hats are better (Though new beats sound better recorded).

Ok I'm looking for a second/alternative/replacement (not sure which) ride. I presently use a Zildjian A Ping Ride, Which has nice stick definition but not the greatest bell, and not the best quiet jazz sound (more "rocky").

I want:
- A Zildjian Cymbal, either K or K Custom
- With a loud and distinct bell (preferably large in size)
- A good jazz sound, especially for swing
- Short decay, I don't want it building up sound during fast swing
- Clear stick definition, shouldn't ring too much
- A little bit of a crash in it if i hit it on the edge
- Not too loud

Suggestions?

HeLLmO 11-04-2006 09:55 PM

K Custom special dry ride maybe?

drummguy731 11-04-2006 09:56 PM

K custom hybrid

We_Love_Lime 11-05-2006 10:22 AM

Those special drys are nice..

Bloodlust 11-05-2006 02:50 PM

hey guys i want to get a bell, like a Zil-bel, but im not sure if i should get the 6 inch or 9.5. I have ehard that the 6 inch one doesn't stand out at all and can barly be heard. Any truth to this?

Drum Phil 11-05-2006 03:14 PM

Depends.

They are fairly quiet.

Bloodlust 11-05-2006 03:22 PM

so if im palying a local show, small venue and unmiced kit, would the 6 inch version be audible?

Also how is the paragon ride? Is it crashable at all?

Drum Phil 11-05-2006 03:24 PM

Probably not

And no.

Bloodlust 11-05-2006 03:32 PM

what ride would you recomend for a good defined bell, yet a little crashabilty?

FL3P 11-05-2006 04:09 PM

A Custom medium ride.

That thing can be heard for miles man, I'd suggest going for the 9.5 one though cause the 6" is loud, but the 9.5 is louder.

London Prophet 11-05-2006 08:50 PM

I have a 6" Zil-Bel it's cutting!

I used to use it as the bell for my ride, it makes much mroe noise when inverted.

MeaninglessPhoto 11-05-2006 10:25 PM

Yeah, the Zilbel is a good bell for loud noises when inverted, its good for little chimes and dings on the other side.

Who makes those hihats?

I am looking for mid-priced but good quality pair of hihats for playing mostly rock and funk. I don't want something really heavy sounding, but equally I want them to be audible unlike some I've seen - I think it was a K or K custom 13" (those are probably too expensive anyway). They would need to sound fairly good open, closed and halfway?

Drum Phil 11-06-2006 05:49 PM

Ufip?

Snarz 11-06-2006 06:33 PM

I would've said you should look into Saluda Cymbals, they're pretty much custom cymbals to fit the buyers needs. But I don't think they ship to England.

Static 11-06-2006 11:16 PM

14" A Customs.

MatthewMeredith 11-07-2006 12:33 AM

Alright this is my first time trying out the Cymbal Finder, so here goes...

My drums are going to be custom maple or mohogany or walnut (if I can afford it) and they're going to have Fiberskyns all around

I want reaaaaally dry sounding cymbals... 20" ride, 19" china, 18" crash, 13" hats, 10" splash, and maybe a 6" splash...

Price isn't much of a problem (to a certain extent).

UNLATHED IS KEY!

Plan B. 11-07-2006 12:34 AM

K Custom Dry Light ride, check it out.

MatthewMeredith 11-07-2006 12:43 AM

Hmm looks interesting... I'll have to check out some in stores if I can find them

Inkstar 11-07-2006 04:10 AM

I second this. One of the sexiest cymbals I've ever played.

We_Love_Lime 11-07-2006 07:35 AM

K Custom Dry Sessions. if you can find them.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

maniac0796 11-07-2006 02:51 PM

Hey y'all. I'm looking for new hats. I want quite a washy sound when loose, and nice click sound when closed fully, and a nice chick sound when using my foot.

Any suggestions???

Cocaberry 11-07-2006 04:02 PM

Try AAX Stage hats or AAXcelerators.

Real live junkie 11-09-2006 09:16 AM

Hey...
Can someone please tell me the difference between cast cymbals and sheet cymbals(sound and price) because i am planning to buy cymbals in the near future. Also please give me some insight on the brands wuhan and meinl besides the other popular 3.

Since i'am getting cymbals im gonna need stands. so should i go expensive stands of cheap stands. Do they affect the sound of the cymbals.

Thanks for your help.
