'help', 'yesterday', 'she loves you', ' i saw her standing there' etc. all of them are first-class! :)

Walrus Gumboot 10-13-2005 01:21 PM

I was extatic the first time I heard I Should Have Known Better, which was probably last December. I think I remeber a perma-grin

It's just so amazing in the stangest way, like it holds more depth than it should

Ulysses 10-13-2005 07:32 PM
What is everyones favourite pre-Rubber Soul song? Back when they were making the jolly bouncy pop songs like Eight Days A Week and such. I think mine would have to be "I Should Have Known Better" the melody in that song is catchy as hell!
"A Hard Days Night" and "Can't Buy Me Love" would have to be my two favourite songs from that period.

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 10-13-2005 10:01 PM

"Can't Buy Me Love" and "Help!" are my favorite originals, and "Twist and Shout" is my favorite cover. I really like "We Can Work It Out", too.

Leper 10-13-2005 10:04 PM

I really can't choose one over another. They're all so fun to listen to. The only one that really stands out in my mind from that era is "Yesterday." Probably because it's so different from the others.

Illmatic 10-13-2005 10:05 PM

Day Tripper (that came out before Rubber Soul, right? Albeit barely, I think)

edit: yeah no I'll go with Yesterday

Seafroggys 10-13-2005 11:57 PM

I Should Have Known Better is such a kickass song. That and And I Love Her are the two best off Hard Day's Night. Twist and Shout is another great song.

blue3 10-14-2005 12:01 AM

I still have to get A Hard Day's Night album.. I have the movie though.

El_Goodo 10-14-2005 12:05 AM

I've got the movie recorded on my digital cable :) that's when I first heard I Should Have Known Better and I was like wow!!!

I wish I hadn't downloaded so many Beatle's songs, if I could go back I would have done it the old fashioned way and bought the albums so I could slowly discover the beatles. That's why I've cut myself off from downloading, from now on I will buy the albums to hear songs I havent heard. Like Revolver, I heard every song but two of them :(. It would be much cooler to get the album and be amazed.

Like with Rubber Soul I hadnt heard any of those songs, except maybe in My Life, same goes for Abbey Road. And listening to both of those cd's was a great experience.

I dont even remember how I got into the Beatles. For some reason during the last christmas season I decided to buy The Beatle's 1's cause it was two cd's for 30 dollars. So I got that one and...I dont remember the other one. But after I heard the 1's I was hooked.

blue3 10-14-2005 12:20 AM

My dad had most the Beatles tapes, so I listened to that a few years ago. Then I bought the albums. I still don't have all of them though.

Leper 10-14-2005 12:32 AM
Ah, come to think of it probably not. I can't chack now because mp3 players are taboo during school hours, but perhaps it is 3:33; it's at one fo the times with the orchestra swell, I think the last one. Or maybe the first

Creepy avatar ++
Hmm I just listened closely to both of the orchestra swells..there's some drowned out talking right at the start of the first one, but I couldn't hear any whispering during either. Geez, whatever you're on Walrus, I want some. ;)

I've never fallen into that. I got into the Beatles hardcore when I first saw Yellow Submarine, then I heard all their official released on tapes dubbed straight off the CDs (the original 13 British album CD released of 1987), then slowly have been collecting all their CDs.

Walrus Gumboot 10-14-2005 09:01 PM

2:58- Left channel. I swear it's there.

EDIT: How strange. There is also a bunch of whispering at about the same time in Hey Jude

I believe it says "Got the wrong chord... ****ing hell"

It is. I've heard it clearly.

DeusExMachina 10-14-2005 09:07 PM

I know none of this. I must investigate.

magicbus 10-14-2005 09:42 PM

The talking in "A Day In The Life" during the orchestra swells is someone in the studio (George Martin I think) counting for the orchestra. This was because when that person counted to 24, the orchestra was supposed to be at the top of their scales, and then it would go into McCartney's part.

As for the talking in "Hey Jude", I'm pretty sure that's Lennon hitting the wrong chord, as you said Walrus.

El_Goodo 10-15-2005 11:21 AM

I heard about the Lennon in Hey Jude thing, but you've got to be really open minded and listening closely to notice anything, let alone make out a sentance.

blue3 10-15-2005 07:40 PM

Hah.. that was cool.

Holy crap I actually heard it that time!! It doesn't really sound like murder, or whatever you said before..I actually thought it just sounded like a flemmy cough.

That Hey Jude one is pretty funny.

Leper 10-16-2005 11:57 PM

6th page? That's quite a slide.

blue3 10-17-2005 01:02 AM

You killed it again. :p

I kind of heard something in Hey Jude. I'll have to listen to it again I guess.

Leper 10-17-2005 01:13 AM

I'm developing a bad reputation for doing that :(. I don't try to, honest!

Violent_Bill 10-17-2005 01:24 AM

I noticed that thing in Hey Jude really easily, mainly because my right speaker is broken.

Leper 10-17-2005 01:35 AM

It'd be awesome to have a soundboard. Then you could just mute everything else and listen for the hidden stuff.

rockinbass17 10-17-2005 02:20 PM

bump

Now that it was mentioned, I hear the talking in Hey Jude every time I listen. I can't make out any words, though.

El_Goodo 10-18-2005 04:41 PM

Bump!

er.....What's everyones favourite Beatles songs guitar-wise? Mine are... the obvious (Day Tripper), BlackBird, You've Got To Hide Your Love Away, and Across The Universe

Jacaranda 10-18-2005 04:43 PM

While My Guitar Gently Weeps!

And not because of the Clapton solo just because its a good song.

MBS 10-18-2005 05:00 PM

123'd with Jacaranda.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps is an incredibly fun song to play.

Woodstock 10-18-2005 05:02 PM

The electric version of Revolution is a great guitar song.
