What about Jango Fett?
Yes.

Paranoidd 11-19-2004 12:34 AM

Any non-jedi who kills a jedi impresses me.

I don't rate androids at all.

What about Mara Jade?

Cain 11-19-2004 12:36 AM
Ripper, you put entirely too much work into that post :p
I was very bored. :) I thought it might be interesting to somebody.
I don't rate androids at all.

As a bounty hunter, Mara was badass at the beginning, but then she wimps out and becomes a semi-Luke flame. Evidently the Emperor really didn't try hard enough in training her to be his "hand."

Bartender 11-19-2004 12:45 AM

IG-88 was just a tin-can with a rifle. Everyone > him :)

He is a bad ass tin-can. Fuck you guys.

She's hot, I had her autograph at one point :thumb:

Anyways, she was always pretty cool, since she seemed better than Luke in the books. When was she a bounty hunter though?

He did break the robot laws, but other than that...meh.

Bartender 11-19-2004 01:05 AM

What's the name of the bounty hunter who's all wrapped up in bandages when you see him in the original trilogy? He's got a grudge against Han because of a race or something.

Permanent Solution 11-19-2004 01:07 AM

Dengar, he was swoop racing Han and crashed, so he has all the bandages, but blames Han.

Bartender 11-19-2004 01:09 AM

There we go. I've got an original model of him, somewhere. And the guy with tentacles on his face who apparently works for Jabba, but I don't think he ever actually appears in the films. In fact, in the little book of characters I read, he doesn't even have a photo. Just a pencil sketch.

^Those ones? (That is a movie SS)

^This one?

They all appear in the movie for breif moments...

Bartender 11-19-2004 01:18 AM

I remember Bib, he's a fairly major character in my eyes.

It's the other one, the first picture. I wonder why this book didn't have a picture of him :-/

Permanent Solution 11-19-2004 01:24 AM

It's because SWCCG pwns all other trivia sources. Seriously, greatest game ever concieved.

Bartender 11-19-2004 01:35 AM

MTG > SWCCG

Just when we thought the thread could get no nerdier.

BoboTheRagingHobo 11-19-2004 01:38 AM
MTG > SWCCG

MTG sucks hardcore, well at least now...

People are way to stuck up when they play that game.

Permanent Solution 11-19-2004 01:38 AM

I never played MTG, I wasn't cool then, but SWCCG got popular about 6th grade, and I was all over it, touneys and all...but the stupid #1 player in the world lived where I did so no good, he would pull Vaders and such and give em away :(

MTG was about 5th grade, when I was super uncool, so I never played, but I hear good things.

Yes, now it sucks horrendously because Wizards, in all their infinite wisdom, decided to change the card design for the game's 10th Anniversary, making them them ugly.

When did they change them? I saw kids playing it as recently as last year with original-looking cards...

Oh yeah, wanna rep me for good measure? I got some lame down reps lately (a la Zakath and "Yarr" gimmick rep kid  )

Bartender 11-19-2004 01:55 AM

They were changed either late last year or early this year, I don't remember.

Go here and click any of the links in the middle of the page to see the new design.

The old cards can still be played with, though I'm not sure on mixing of new and old being tournament legal (because of different backs). There'll always be tournaments arranged specifically for old style cards, but I, and my friends who also played, just got disillusioned after they changed.

Permanent Solution 11-19-2004 01:57 AM

Hmmm...I didn't see that many differences :-/

Certainly nothing major...unless I was looking at the wrong stuff...

^Old-style.

http://www.wizards.com/global/images/magic/8e/rhox.jpg

^New-style.

They happen to be the same card too, but that's not important.

Permanent Solution 11-19-2004 02:04 AM

Ah yeah...I still don't think it's that major, I thought you meant like a major overhaul. Noticeable, but not supremely different. The older does look better though...

Bartender 11-19-2004 02:07 AM

I think if you played yourself, you'd notice it more. The new style is horrifically ugly, to my eyes :)

I used to be really into it though. Had a favourite player and everything.

Permanent Solution 11-19-2004 02:10 AM

Haha, nice. When I was doing SWCCG I had binders with thousands of cards, so I know how that goes...

Riva 11-19-2004 05:28 AM

The only way this thread could get any nerdier if we start calculating the star dates from Star Trek, and arguing about the staying power of a phaser-1 system.

I am glad I don't know any about Star Trek...

Bartender 11-19-2004 05:55 AM

I'm somewhat depressed now. Jon Finkel (my favourite player) used to be on top of the world, and before I gave up on MTG, I already knew he was in a decline; he'd fallen off the gravy train, and it was rare to see him even compete, let alone win :(

Anyway, this thread just prompted me to check up on the world of Magic, and not only is Finkel nowhere to be seen, but his record earnings from the 2000 Worlds has been broken by some 15 year old kid at this years Worlds :(

/unhappy

Anyway, how is everyone?

Riva 11-19-2004 06:01 AM

Going to bed. I have to work in 10 hours. :(
