yep.
My cousins live there. I'm from a town called Kincardine about two hours away. its on lake Huron |
Moon's been with The Who since '65, and even before that I'm sure he was nuts. Way before Bonham.
|
Well...yeah. I dunno, thats pretty weird. Maybe the mag is just off. It happens.
Moon couldn't even play drums. He didn't keep a set where he lived. Every time they recorded they had to wait a few days for him to re-learn.
Are you being sarcastic saying he couldn't play or something? haveing to relearn something doesn't mean you can't play, hell R.E.M had to buy a book of their songs because they didn't remember how to play them. |

I'm sure he was. You can tell by the interview with pete about when keith joined the band. (on The Kids are Alright DVD) |
I also watched this Doors video called dance with fire.......interesting. :smoke:
Do you mean dance on fire? I own that one (well it's a 3 VHS set with Dance on fire, Live at the hollywood bowl, and I think the last one's called people are strange I can't remember though) |
Purple?
Why don't people ever acknowledge Deep Purple as a great classic rock band? The along with Zepplin and Sabbath started the Heavy rock scene!
please acknowledge them, excluding Smoke on the Water! Thanks, Sproose! =P |
Man, We've acknowedgled them alot. Have you seen them live they put on a great show.
|

Keith Moon is my second favorite drummer. The guy is nuts. He was one of the major reasons why the who were so great (that and brilliant writing and a great singer). |
Interesting fact: My mom born on the same day as Bonham
My dad born on same day as Moon Sweet Eh? |
Interesting fact: My mom born on the same day as Bonham
My dad born on same day as Moon Sweet Eh?
By drummer logic that makes you Neil Peart! :amaze: |
Yeah. Iam also Canadian like Neil. We have so m,uch in common.
|
Beatles, Rolling Stones, Zeppelin, Beach Boys (if they count), The Who, Pink Floyd, Doors, Cream, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Boston, Rush, Steppenwolf, Jethro Tull, Yes, Queen, Van Halen, Clapton (THE BEST EVER), Hendrix...music doesn't get much better than that.
|

No, I'm not being sarcastic. I'm not calling Moon a bad drummer either. The Who > Me. I'm just making the point that most people learn an instrument, and they either get to a certain point and stop, or keep learning. Moon had to teach himself how to play drums every time they recorded an album. You'd at least think alot of musicians would keep their instruments on hand. If anything, it's a compliment. Imagine teaching yourself to drum like THAT, many times over. Amazing. David Bowie has to keep a lyric sheet in front of him, he can't remember all his songs anymore. |
anyone picked up the new who compilation? (then and now 1964-2004).
someone give me a list of classic metal bands |
I LOVE Deep Purple. I think there v. underrated actually. Ritchie is a guitar genious. It just that alot of their songs arnt so 'catchy'. I love Ians voice as well. I just think it sucks that everyone only knows Deep Purple for Smoke on the Water. Hell, alot dont even know that. *sigh*
DVG. |

I read it on a site, which I can't find. But this article is along similar lines:

Right then :) |
David Bowie has to keep a lyric sheet in front of him, he can't remember all his songs anymore.
Well he's written like over 200 songs, so I think that's more than excusable. ;) But I didn't notice him using a lyric sheet when I saw him. |
at my school we just got our yearbooks from last year today, and on the cover was the name of a ton of classic rock bands like zepp, the beatles, bob dylan, black sabbath along with some newer stuff like dmb and radiohead. But I guarantee 90% of the yearbook staff has only heard iron man and was like "yeah sabbath rules!". What do you guys think about that?
|
thats what i was trying to figure out. probably cuz all the popular kids(basically thats who makes up the yearbook staff) thought it eould be all hip or some ****
|

http://twtd.bluemountains.net.au/cream/moon.htm
No, read Keith Moon's biography. He had taken lessons, and he kept a 4 piece at his house. There are tons of rumors about him, most not true. |
Here's a game! Name the first Classic Rock band or artist that comes to mind when you hear these words.
Old Western: Medieval: Outterspace: Texas: Mountains: Lazy: Psychedelia: Bluegrass: Blues: Evil: |
Anyone hear of Ten Years After, Love, Canned Heat?
|

But I didn't notice him using a lyric sheet when I saw him.
He probably rehearses the songs for a particular night beforehand, and uses the lyric sheets for recording sessions. Or something. |
