Poems are better read in the original language anyways.
Definitely.

Latin is badass.

Eliminator 09-26-2006 08:55 PM

I failed Latin last year.

so someone sent me Cool Edit Pro/Adobe Audition v.1.5 or whatever and i don't have a username or it

B 09-26-2006 08:55 PM
I am not learning latin so that I can do this project.

Sorry.

English is the most useless class ever, by the way. At least math gives you no bull**** about pretending to be important.
English is my favourite class, Math being my most hated.

V: I know =]

Honors US History is the best class I've ever taken. We don't really learn anything in class, we just discuss things and have debates. It's really really awesome. Such a fun class.

Math is my least favorite, because I'm terrible at math.

English class is a waste of time, though. I'd love to learn some ****ing grammar. We should be spending less time reading boring books like the Great Gatsby and more time teaching me when the **** I should use who and when I should use whom. I'll forget Gatsby in a few months, but who/whom is something I could actually use at some point.

And poetry, god, don't got me started on poetry. It's the worst ever.

ZaaR 09-26-2006 09:03 PM

so i'm officially in two bands and off the ganja :)

BridgeToSolace 09-26-2006 09:07 PM

What now, on to crack?

ZaaR 09-26-2006 09:09 PM

:(.

BridgeToSolace 09-26-2006 09:12 PM

No, I'm kidding, congratulations man.

Honestly, I really dislike pot and all that crap. Good for you for get off of it.

And records of your band plz.

formofshark 09-26-2006 09:14 PM

BridgeToSolace 09-26-2006 09:14 PM

Oh, ****, the poet has to be American. God dammit, I can't do Martial! **** **** **** **** **** ****!

pot is really dumb to do. like it's fun for a bit, but then it gets just stupid. it makes you dumb, and it makes me so much more slower in everything i do. also, all of my friends are moving on to worse drugs (shrooms, ex) and i don't want that to happen. so i thought i should quit completely.

i just joined both today. the first one i'm in i'm the singer and rythm guitar. we are a four piece band. in the second one it's my 4 old buddies from elementary who all want to play something along the lines of ulver/godspeed/isis. so basically a metal band with a melodic side. i can't wait to see how the second band turns out.

BridgeToSolace 09-26-2006 09:21 PM

It's not so much the pot itself I have a problem with, it's the whole pot culture that I dislike.

DJ Ducksauce 09-26-2006 09:27 PM

Yes, silly stoners.

I'm curious, but I think I'm more scared than curious, so I don't do it.

well, everyone is going to end up doing it. once you do it, you'll think it's great and then get into it for a bit, until you realize how dumb it is. it's fun for the first while.

BridgeToSolace 09-26-2006 09:37 PM

I've said this like three times in the past day or two:

It's so ****ing hard to find good American poetry.

ZaaR 09-26-2006 09:44 PM

i did a poetry analysis on some black american poet last year. i think his name was langston hughes. i didn't like his work

BridgeToSolace 09-26-2006 09:45 PM

I get to choose mine, which makes it much harder.

I swear to god I hear someone whistling. I'm the only person awake in my house.

Creeping me the **** out.

ZaaR 09-26-2006 09:49 PM

the new afi video is pretty good up until the part where davey somehow gets underwater...

Well not really, I doubt I will since I want to keep my brain in good shape, but I see what you mean since you live in weed country.

Jon: What do you need American Poetry for?

Eh, a project I have to do.

I'm looking up Slam Poets. They are way cooler than most poets.

DJ Ducksauce 09-26-2006 10:01 PM

oic

Yeah, most classic poetry is snoozy.

JohnXDoesn't 09-26-2006 10:02 PM

tired going to bed goodnight PP

hi ducksauce :)

Anxious 09-26-2006 10:03 PM

I feel like ****. All day long.

DJ Ducksauce 09-26-2006 10:03 PM

Hi John.

Night John.

For some reason I always want to call you John Liguizamo(sp?).

BridgeToSolace 09-26-2006 10:03 PM

So far, I have Taylor Mali and Dorothy Parker.

Although I'm iffy on Parker because although a good portion of her peoms are about being true to yourself and all that good stuff, another good bit is about how men treat women like ****. I don't care for the second part.

Unfortunate Coincidence By the time you swear you're his,
Shivering and sighing,
And he vows his passion is
Infinite, undying,
Lady, make a note of this —
One of you is lying.

DJ Ducksauce 09-26-2006 10:05 PM

Haha silly lezzy feminists.

We just read Death of a Salesman in English. Not too bad a play.

BridgeToSolace 09-26-2006 10:11 PM

Non comedic plays are really aweful.

A drama is dependent on you immersing yourself into the plot, to really believe that the play is really happening. That's the only way you can really identify with the characters and care about what happense to them - the only thing that can make a drama good.

Plays are just too unnatural to ever really be believable. Whether it be bad scripting, bad acting, the lack of a believable environment or whatever, I just can't manage to immerse myself into the play.

And thus, they are no enjoyable. Worthless.

I love History too, I'm taking American History this year =]

Canadian history is boring as hell.

I agree about the whole actually learning something about the language rather than reading books, but I really enjoy reading a good book, whether I actually like reading or just like pretending to live a life not my own however I haven't figured out yet.

MattSharpIsCool 09-26-2006 10:12 PM

At work, we're getting the new store ready to open. I've been lugging around freight and lifting giant shelves and fixtures around for the past 2 days.

I am considering ending my existence.

BridgeToSolace 09-26-2006 10:20 PM

I love reading. If I didn't have homework, I'd reather two hours a night easily.

I'm just VERY picky, however. I'll get myself set on one author, and that's all I'll want to read. Everything else is trash to me at that point.

When I was younger, that person was K.A. Applegate. Animorphs, Everwold, Remnants, all that good stuff.

Now it's Orson Scott Card. Really, I've never enountered someone who can make me care so much about the characters in their books. I was crying my *** off at the end of Lovelock (which is actually about a monkey!) and Children Of The Mind and Lost Boys. He's just an increadible author. His language is simple, but the depth of his characters is unmatched. The richness and believability of his dialogue is just amazing. If you've ever heard a family banter, he captures it perfectly in every one of his books.

And his plots are freaking epic. He doesn't just take a character through one instance in their lives. In a span of one book or a series he'll start with a character very young, and bring that character to the end of his life, growing and developing and learning all the way.

Man, he's great.

Really, read anything he's written besides his two or three books on biblical women. I'm sure I'd enjoy them thoroughly if I read them, but I'd feel really gay to have them.

But he's all I'll read, usually.

Seth, shush.
