The reasons for making a new one are the same reasons for why this one was made in the first place (instead of just carrying on with the old one).

Nah. The last one was being spammed when it was closed (which is why it ran on to 60K, instead of 50, actually), but the reasons for closing it are just practical ones. When a thread gets to/above a certain size, it starts to take a lot longer to load pages in that thread - including just manoeuvring through the thread, and posting in/moderating it - and also a lot longer to search.

Both of which are exacerbated by the fact that the server's being moronically slow recently anyway.

I did, at first, but the result of that was to drastically reduce everyone's postcount.

So, if you had 5,000 posts, 2,000 of which were in the first community thread, before the clone, then after cloning it, and deleting the clone, you had only 1,000.

That's why before leaving to school you get a 20oz Coke/Pepsi, drink down at least a third of it, then refill to the top with your favorite variety of rum. It's a pretty fool proof way to booze at school/work, especially if you have something to snack on to mask the smell on your breath.
