Saitoku 01-22-2005 02:58 PM

Just curious.

Crapdragoon 01-22-2005 02:59 PM

$1000 marked down from $2100.

I am content with the pickups for now. They can get some nice crunch for slapping

Actually what attracted me to the bass was its playability, as in the action was really low and easy to play. I raised it a little, because I fingerpick fairly hard, but the action is one of my favorite parts about it.

edit- the action does look high in that one pic, its not though

I hate EMGs. I think they sound cheesy.

45-50 bucks on eBay. Thats how I got mine.

Jaded 01-22-2005 03:04 PM

I actually like Spector 5's more than 4's, which is weird because I am a 4 string elistest. I found that their 5 necks feel like a slightly bigger 4 neck. The shae is the same.

Nice. I'm having trouble deciding between the Boss and Digitech bass distortions and this thing.

coddingtown 01-22-2005 03:22 PM

Spector 5s are cool. I like how they only use 35" for them. I dont like anything less for 5s

neal_672 01-22-2005 03:29 PM

Hey all

Saitoku 01-22-2005 03:32 PM

Hey, neal.

galadhon 01-22-2005 03:39 PM

oh nooooooo gotta gooooooooo, pushed the "post" button & nothing happennedd

slickric3462 01-22-2005 04:30 PM

is it snowing where any of you guys live?

fatbandit 01-22-2005 04:31 PM

Jamie, those are like the 5 most bottom-kicking songs Muse have done. I would possibly try Sunburn instead of Time is Running Out if you can get it past the band, but go for it!

You shouldn't have a problem learning them, they're pretty simple (bar Citizen Erased, if only for the length), so good luck!

Oh, and my muff cost me £30 from Soundcontrol, but that was with El Discounto. I don't know how much more it is at full price...

neal_672 01-22-2005 04:32 PM

Nope, i wish!

slickric3462 01-22-2005 04:33 PM

yea i've got like 8 inches and its supposed to snow tommorow too

bassist-bmxer 01-22-2005 04:37 PM

Fernandes Power 01-22-2005 04:53 PM
oh coddington i have been meaning to talk to you! today i played the spector you have .....you lucky bugger! that bass has got to be the best bass i have ever played!!
Where did you play it? Sound control??

Fernandes Power 01-22-2005 05:04 PM

(The place under Virgin in Oxford Street)

*punk_rock_sophie* 01-22-2005 05:07 PM

yer, that was the place (i was with him)

Fernandes Power 01-22-2005 05:11 PM

Cool... what did you (two) think of it?

Or anyone else thats been there?? I got my Ampeg from there...:D

bassist-bmxer 01-22-2005 05:23 PM

yeah i think its a really good place, a bit expensive though.

Fernandes Power 01-22-2005 05:27 PM

Yea... the whole set-up idea is magical though... the big metal stage with all the amp makers...

Not a great instrument selection though...

bassist-bmxer 01-22-2005 05:35 PM

yeah i was hoping there would be more 6ers but oh well, i wanted a go on the boss loop pedal in there but someone was using it :upset: i am definetly gonna try it out when i next go though.

oh have you seen that big stage next to the staircase? can anyone just go up there and have a jam?

Dieforitall89 01-22-2005 05:38 PM

Hello hello.

Fernandes Power 01-22-2005 05:39 PM

Was that on the big white shelf of Boss stuff thats all hooked up with patch leads??

I dont think its like that... its for trying out/looking at amps...

But you just need to say 'Can I try out X instrument with X amp?' and theyll probably say yes and definitely if youre convincing and its not a busy day. :thumb:

Last time I went they had a Stingray with a warped neck, I was gonna say to them that they should just let me buy it for a couple of hundred £'s.

One of the women that works in there (called Sheila) is the bassist for Elastica...

blizzard 01-22-2005 05:42 PM

morning mx

bassist-bmxer 01-22-2005 05:48 PM

yeah they are really friendly there, not every shop would let someone just try out a £2700 spector bass just to see what it is like :p

Fernandes Power 01-22-2005 05:52 PM

What did you think of it??

I almost tried one last time I was there but we were strapped for time...

bassist-bmxer 01-22-2005 05:54 PM

oh it is the nicest bass i have ever played! its the maple euro neck one. I was just so amazed at how good it was! you must try it!

Fernandes Power 01-22-2005 05:56 PM

I shall next time I go which should be soon, what colour was it?... Do you go to Tin Pan Alley often??

freaKedbasTard 01-22-2005 05:59 PM

littlebit off the theme...
i have been drinking for two days and i'm not able to play bass 'cause my fingers just won't move..

Fernandes Power 01-22-2005 06:04 PM

Haha... attention seeker perhaps?

bassist-bmxer 01-22-2005 06:10 PM

it is pretty much but with different pickups and knob setup
http://www.spectorbass.com/images/cr4fmnatblack.jpg

isnt that denmark street? if so yes, i bought a boss chorus pedal in rockers earlier.

Fernandes Power 01-22-2005 06:15 PM

Denmark Streets nickname is Tin Pan Alley :thumb:

looks cool

bassist-bmxer 01-22-2005 06:29 PM

yeah i thought so, what do you think of the bass cellar?

Fernandes Power 01-22-2005 06:32 PM

I think the guy running its a bit of knob because he is OBSESSED with Flea...

Have some interesting stories there... lol

coddingtown 01-22-2005 06:37 PM

hey do one of you guys mind answering my strings thread real quick? Rep points for detailed answers...

bassist-bmxer 01-22-2005 06:41 PM

They are a bit more how you say careful in there, like one time i was playing a 6er in there and the guy was like watching me all the time :p like i was gonna break it or something.

And the shop is really cramped, like you have to squeeze between expensive basses and amps, and i get a bit scared that i'm gonna knock something over lol :p
