My friend's aunt had to write a paper proving why 1 + 1 = 3 and it's actually possible to prove. You just have to use some really obscure logic to do it. It took her like 8 pages typed in calculations to prove it.

jrowa001 02-27-2008 10:03 PM
did you know that 1/phi = phi-1
yeah, and Phi^2 = 1+Phi

gmoneyguy 02-27-2008 10:04 PM

Thats odd. 1 + 1 = 2 and the like is one of the only things philosophers can agree on.

Sum it up in a brief sentence for me plz???

Cool. I haven't seen that one before.

also
1.4 (rounded down to 1)
+ 1.4 (rounded down to 1)
= 2.8 (rounded up to 3)

gmoneyguy 02-27-2008 10:11 PM

oooh thats a bit of a stretch.

Txus 02-27-2008 10:13 PM

Math ****ing sucks balls.

lets talk about tits.

Permanent Solution 02-27-2008 10:15 PM

lim tits -> 0 = keira kinghtley

jrowa001 02-27-2008 10:16 PM

thats fine with me. who else thinks Monica Bellucci has a nice rack?

blueyxd 02-27-2008 10:17 PM

I wonder how the golden ratio would apply to tits.

"The golden nipple is located at a height from the bottom of the golden breast that is 1.618 x the width of the breast."

edit: that doesn't seem to look right

Riva 02-27-2008 10:21 PM
actually the Hindu-Arabs were the first known people to use 0. then Leonardo Fibonacci took their number system and introduced it to the Europeans. i never knew that our numbers were created by how many angles there are in each number. like "0" has no angles, "8" has 8 angles (the original was like 2 squares). if anybody wants to learn some cool stuff, look up Fibonaicc's sequence and the Golden Ratio
I think, mate, you will find that the Hindu-Arabs aren't actually a single civilisation. :p

But the Golden Ratio is rather interesting, since it pops up in so many places in nature; from nautilus' shells to leaf veins.

EDIT: I think Boticelli's Birth of Venus follows the golden ratio. Venus has some nice tits.
Sum it up in a brief sentence for me plz???
There's gotta be a contradiction in there somewhere, or the fabric of the Universe is tearing apart. If 1+1 = 3, then 4 = 6 and so forth. Everything would look like a Picasso painting.

I was playing around with phi and determined it to be lim n->inf [sqrt(n^2+n^2/4)+n/2] / n

I looked on wikipedia and saw the real answer

phayle

Riva 02-27-2008 10:26 PM

The 1+1=3 thing has a dubious proof which balances around the fact that 0.99999999999999999 is approximately equal to 1.

gmoneyguy 02-27-2008 10:28 PM

I ♥ tits

correction

lim n->inf 9/10^1 + 9/10^2 + 9/10^3 + ... + 9/10^n is 1, not approximately equal to 1

oh yes, and tits

how closely do you think Emelie Lindberg's tits conform to phi?

http://modellbilder.se/userdata/pics/fullsize/226500/226636f-nkj.jpg

I'm thinking like >= 90%

@ guitrguy - yeah but remember about what I told you on last.fm; you can't own Xians with tits, unless you made some kind of epic tit mace

Actually no :( Tits mace sounds awesome though.

Riva 02-27-2008 10:33 PM

I was taught a different proof in high school. And her tits are not phi at all. More akin to Ψ, if you know what I mean.

NemesisDivina 02-27-2008 10:34 PM

Am I the only one that's really confused at the moment?

Riva 02-27-2008 10:34 PM

Your mum is really confused.

gmoneyguy 02-27-2008 10:35 PM

I am, but I've only taken up to business calculus

That's how some Hindu divinities gained supreme power: by meditating and not getting laid.

gmoneyguy 02-27-2008 10:38 PM

I took geometry in the 9th grade.

Yeah I know that, but what bout the tit mace? @chris jr.
