I don't really like much Necrophagist anymore, but I do prefer Onset, because it actually has a few songs I like, Mutilate The Stillborn for one.

Necrophagist is basically a comedy band.

FatalEnergy 09-11-2007 10:17 PM

Never liked them

subsonic 09-11-2007 11:19 PM

on the subject of Mike Patton...

I liked Faith No More... especially Angel Dust
I liked the 1st Bungle, as well as California... but not Disco Volante so much.

TBQH though, most everything else I've heard from him has sounded like a cracked-out weasel with a microphone. Some people like that "avant-garde noise art" type stuff (like his solo albums) but it didn't do too much for me. I tried liking Fantomas when I was super heavy into Patton and even then I couldn't hang, Tomahawk never really caught my attention. Maybe someone could suggest something to change my mind?

but... just to stick it to a few of ya, none of Patton's projects are "death metal" so why are we discussing it here?

i am the robots 09-11-2007 11:38 PM

I like Fantomas, but yeah, none of this belongs here.

Awesome. It's really cool.

Hey, if you get bored and want to do some random art for me, give me a shout....the logos are great and thanks a lot man.

subsonic 09-11-2007 11:51 PM

ok, so it's not really death metal, but I was hopin we could overlook that fact for a sec and discuss something extremely important...

Is anybody looking forward to Down III as much as I am? Good God, I'm about to crap my pants in anticipation!

Yeah dude, I'd definitely be down to do some art.

I have off from classes and work tomorrow anyhow... not promising anything, but I might have time to work on something.

EDIT:
New Black Dahlia leaked.
Necrophagist is basically a comedy band.
this.
they're very good when it comes to technical playing but i think the songwriting suffers.

i am the robots 09-12-2007 05:04 AM

Their songwriting does indeed suffer.

Eliminator 09-12-2007 05:12 AM

ok whats the big deal about decapitation

winds of creation isn't that good ;_;

Shred Danson 09-12-2007 05:15 AM

Yes. It is. (finally a death metal band being discussed on this page  )

i am the robots 09-12-2007 05:19 AM

Sorry if deathcore and melodic death aren't cool enough for you. :(

Squirrel 09-12-2007 05:54 AM

Decapitated*

WoC has awesome tone and production, some awesome songs and was written by incredibly young musicians.

i am the robots 09-12-2007 05:55 AM

Truth. Such a great album.

Squirrel 09-12-2007 05:56 AM

Their debut too!

Yeah I love that album, I was addicted to it for soooooo long.

Angmar 09-12-2007 07:00 AM

I listen to it a lot whilst driving, such a great album.

Shred Danson 09-12-2007 07:14 AM
Sorry if deathcore and melodic death aren't cool enough for you.
1. Deathcore is the worst genre to come out since nu-metal. All bands in said genre, barring Whitechapel, fail.

2. My band plays melodic death metal, stfu.
Decapitated*
Typos :upset:

subsonic 09-12-2007 07:59 AM

... and it's come full circle! First time I was here people were arguing about Decapitated!

so uhh... how 'bout them Dodgers?

Aakon_Keetreh 09-12-2007 10:20 AM

Whats everybodys favorite death metal bands?

Shred Danson 09-12-2007 10:25 AM

Right now, Impaled and Autopsy. Can't **** with those bands.

Aakon_Keetreh 09-12-2007 10:36 AM

Im honestly not very familiar with much death metal, just mostly black metal, but im staying away from that because im starting to not like it. Lately bands i really like are...Cryptopsy, vader, skinless, and ghoul. Im not the biggest fan of the low vocals but i like them.

Squirrel 09-12-2007 10:50 AM

Yeah im on a big Impaled binge atm, cant wait for The Last Gasp.

Deth 09-12-2007 10:52 AM

Carcass and Death are the relatively consistent one-two punch from me.

Shred Danson 09-12-2007 10:53 AM
Yeah im on a big Impaled binge atm, cant wait for The Last Gasp.
I must be living under a goddamn rock, they have a new CD coming out?

I am in a great mood now :D

Squirrel 09-12-2007 10:59 AM

Yep, its coming out early November :)

Apparently they spent a lot of time on their tone and mixing, trying to make it really thick and well .. brutal :D

RouteOne 09-12-2007 11:12 AM

http://www.myspace.com/fallofthebastards

not too sure if they would be considered "death metal" but I dig em'.

Shred Danson 09-12-2007 11:12 AM

I will freeze myself in carbonite in anticipation of this release.

rattlehead42147 09-12-2007 11:14 AM
ok whats the big deal about decapitation

winds of creation isn't that good ;_;
thats what ive been saying.
Whats everybodys favorite death metal bands?
Death, then it comes down to how technical we want to get. is cynic death metal, cause then Death and Cynic. if not then Death and probably Carcass or Obituary (even though Cause of death seems to be their only really outstanding album).

and a tip of the cap to deth for choosing the same two bands :p

Shred Danson 09-12-2007 11:15 AM

You and Elim speak blasphemy.

rattlehead42147 09-12-2007 11:20 AM

the riff on the song spheres of madness from Nihility is hilarious its so generic to me. its just drop C with the top 3 strings hit open in certain rhythm.

Shred Danson 09-12-2007 11:22 AM

Generic doesn't always = bad :p Although I sorta agree with you there.

rattlehead42147 09-12-2007 11:25 AM

yeah i know, it actually picks up a bit later on in the song and gets a bit interesting but the riff itself just makes me think of some kid with spikes and a slipknot shirt getting "riled up" in the mosh pit since he thinks the riff is so badass lmao
