*********THE DSOTM CONCERT***********
*Cue angel choir singing Hallelujah*
And He, being God, descended from the Heavens, and brought with him thou greatest treasure; a bootleg recording of a 1972 DSotM concert, and a pink iPod mini. The iPod being stolen out of thy Jeep, God left us with the concert. Let us give thanks and be blessed, for thou art hath seemeth holy. Amen.

EDIT: Ok, some people are saying something or other about hxxp, so here's an alt I guess

I have something like this, its called Pink Days and the Fat Old Suns" DSotM live in '73 and "Cymbaline" and "Careful With that Axe Eugene" in '70.

Anyone heard of it.

You might want to switch those http with hxxp so the link doesn't get cancelled.
They were even called Megadeath
One of Syd's ideas was "The Megadeaths"

I heard they were called Sigma Five, except with Roger on Guitar, before Barret formed Pink Floyd.

*Sigma Six
I think that is the earliest forms of Pink floyd, Roger did play guitar back then, but eventually went to bass since he refused to buy an electric guitar(I dont know why).

Dude, that was definitely a gift from God, the YSI link worked without using hxxp! Beautiful. I'm downloading it now.

WheepingGuitar39 08-11-2005 08:50 PM

lol i just realized after downloading that i already had this
why is there no video though :(
.mpg for nothing :(

DeusExMachina 08-11-2005 08:53 PM

I really like that audio clip. Very awesome.

thunderzstruck 08-11-2005 08:56 PM

Vocals a little too quiet though

magicbus 08-11-2005 08:59 PM

If you just change the file type from ".mpg" to ".mp3", it plays as an audio file. Now it's able to register for audioscrobbler, be burned to cd's, etc.

This version of "On The Run" is talked about on the DSTOM Classic Albums dvd. I think they called it "The Travel Piece", and were playing it like this live before recording it using a synth.

EDIT: I also get the impression that the guys were "under the influence" during this concert.
They were even called Megadeath
Really? I wonder whether that's where Megadeth got their name from.

I'm hoping Live 8 has given them a taste for performing :D

THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

oh yes ive been wondering.....did pink floyd get the "money" riff from led zeppelin's "how many more times"? because they sound very similar if not exactly the same

Broken Arrow 08-12-2005 09:44 AM
Now I want to get more bootlegs. Anyone else have any good ones?
I have a pretty good DSotM one, probably better quality than the last one. Also it's not all one big song that ends up being 47 minutes long. The tracks are seperted.

thunderzstruck 08-12-2005 09:45 AM

upload it!

DeusExMachina 08-12-2005 09:55 AM

Definitely upload! That would be most excellent.

I don't think the Money bassline was copied from anything, but I could be wrong.

Broken Arrow 08-12-2005 09:56 AM

It's coming, along with "Careful With that Axe Eugene" and "Cymbaline" done in not as good od quality in 1970, still most excellent though.

Can you guys take m4as?

Flaminghotchino 08-12-2005 09:58 AM

The first time I heard "Careful With that Axe Eugene" It scared the shiz out of me..I couldn't tell if it was just my imagination when he whispers, and then all the screams came so sudden.

Gotta love it though.

thunderzstruck 08-12-2005 10:24 AM

oooh sweet thank you!

magicbus 08-12-2005 10:37 AM

Thanks for this, and the Dub Side of the Moon, Livewired. Breathe is really cool so far.

temporary 08-12-2005 10:38 AM

Thanks for both bootles, a ton. I got the Dark Side one to work.

Broken Arrow 08-12-2005 10:39 AM

Ahh, just downloaded that :thumb:

Pink Days is a DsotM bootleg.

BigTrav415 08-12-2005 01:09 PM

Gad you guys are liking the DSotM bootleg. It is a little inconvenient to have it is as one long song, but if you listen to any Floyd album like you're supposed to you listen tothe entire thing through. And anyway, it's pretty easy to guess where each song ends/begins, so you just have to fast-forward/rewind to get to it. Although I would like that other guys upload, whatever it is.

robo2448 08-12-2005 02:47 PM

Cool bootlegs.

/bump

Marzcho 08-12-2005 03:04 PM

I just realized how much I like Echoes. I would have sex with that song if it was physically possible.

*bored man posts meaningless posts*

DeusExMachina 08-12-2005 03:11 PM

Wait, was Dub Side of the Moon uploaded?

robo2448 08-12-2005 03:13 PM
Wait, was Dub Side of the Moon uploaded?
Yes, in Other Music. It's missing Us and Them and Brain Damage though.

Kingofdudes 08-12-2005 07:58 PM

I guess I can upload my uber special bootleg for you guys....eventually(Sundayish)

BigTrav415 08-12-2005 09:52 PM
I just realized how much I like Echoes. I would have sex with that song if it was physically possible.

Personally, I think Echoes is one of Floyd's more average "jam/epic long-*** songs" It's not bad, no, it's good. I just think stuff like SOYCD and Dogs are a little more... I don't know. Echoes just feels too, empty or something. It's a good song to just vibe to (or I'm sure to most Floyd listeners outside this thread, get high to), but others just seem to have more feel in them.

I actually just bought Meddle today (I had already heard Echoes though) and I think my favorite song on there has to be One of These Days. It's just so hard-rocking, pretty unlike Floyd actually. The rest of the album is good too though. Both a Pillow of Winds and Fearless are pretty cool songs, San Tropez has kind of a cool tropical vibe to it, and I really don't see why people seem to hate Seamus so much. It just sounds like the band was having fun and just making a fun song (although there might have been more at work there *ahem* drugs) and Echoes does finish it off pretty nicely. Another ace Floyd effort.

By the by, what is the crowd chanting in Fearless? It sounds like an audience at a soccer match or something, or at a concert. Did Floyd take live ambient sound form one of their earlier concerts and mix it in, or what?
