Lol, I wish. I need to get my guitar working.

Just make one like Jack White. |
I have far too many. But I wouldn't want to cut them down and economise. I'd want to get rid of all of them or none of them.
Once I get a power supply, I can keep all my pedals plugged in and start fudging around with chains and different sounds and see what I like and don't like. If this trade goes through, my current pedal setup will consist of: Boss Bass Overdrive Wasabi Echo/Delay Boss Tremolo Boss Chorus Digitech Grunge BBE Green screamer Boss Flanger Boss Acoustic Simulator Slash's Crybaby Wah 70's Morley Vol I know I'll be keeping the chorus, delay, and grunge as I love each of them and really hope to be able to use them in my current band. The vol pedal will most definitely be going because it's just too damn big. I have to play around with rest on bass and guitar before I make a decision about whether or not I want to keep them. |
My volume pedal takes up HUGE amounts of room. But I do use it. I'd miss it. Play with it with some delay afterwards. See if you change your mind.

I've gone through too many 9V batteries in the past 2 weeks to bother connecting any pedals right now. My vol pedal is standard pedal length, but about 6" wide and 4" tall when fully "on." This thing is so old that it has a power cord built into it. |
buy a onespot. right now.
also, listen to glassjaw. |
buy a onespot. right now.

I just listened to "Ape Dos Mil" and meh. It's okay, but not something I could really listen to.
Check out:

The Dear Hunter
Portugal, The Man
|
Portugal. The Man is sweet, man. I'm going to order a copy of their newest once I get the dough (well, I have the money, but I just bought 6 albums recently, so I'm trying to pace myself).
|
Dear Hunter and Portugal are both bands I've listened to but never really fallen madly in love with. For Glassjaw, you really need to check out something like Lovebites and Razorlines (and check the tone in that bass break ^_^) or Hotel of the While Locust. That first album is some seminal post-hardcore right there.
Also just found out what gear their bass player was using for that recording session, so I'm going to go have a fiddle with my pedals and amp and see how close I can get :p |
I really like older Glassjaw. Everything You Ever... etc. Damn good album.
|
Yeah, Daryl stopped being an angry little bitch after EYEWTKAS and the music suffered. Awesome album though. One of my favourites. His vocal performance is outstanding, and the the bass tone is perfect for heavy music IMO.
Really like the track that's been streaming off Glassjaw.com for a few months though |
Wish they would hurry up and release that album that's been in the works for years now.
And yeah EWEWTKAS is definitely in my Top Ten. |

Also, I broke down and bought a onespot last night. I now have all 5 pedals connected, but it's going to take a lot of fiddling around to get something I like. I notice also that the power supply doesn't fit into the Wasabi very well. Did you have that problem too? Morley Vol -> Aphex Bass Xciter -> Boss Bass Overdrive -> Digitech Grunge -> Wasabi Echo/Delay -> Boss Chorus -> Amp. |
God, this place is so dead.
|
saw the ugly truth the other day.
besides the obvious chick-flick moments, i actually enjoyed it. but every time it showed a closeup of gerard butler i kept waiting for "THIS. IS. SPARTA!" and for him to kick someone. |

rofl. yeah, that would've been PERFECT. but sadly, was not meant to be. :( |
Out of curiosity, what's he use?
He's used a few different setups. I found a blog on his Myspace about it. I'll dig up the link. http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=227430&blogId=240411801 Looks like he was doing the clean DI signal and distorted amp signal - pretty much what I did on our last recordings. So I was along the right lines (Y)
Also, I broke down and bought a onespot last night. Morley Vol -> Aphex Bass Xciter -> Boss Bass Overdrive -> Digitech Grunge -> Wasabi Echo/Delay -> Boss Chorus -> Amp.
Yeah, I did find that it wasn't quite long enough, and kept coming out. I got Dave at OBBM (bassic-bits.co.uk) to make me up a connector with a different adapter tip which goes further into the pedal, and it worked fine. Personally, I'd run that chain as ODB-3 -> Grunge -> CEB-3 -> volume pedal -> Xciter -> Wasabi. But that's my take on it. Ask 5 people for their signal chain, and you'll get 5 different answers. |
I'm playing a show tonight, woo. On the way I'm stopping at cashies to look at a second hand trace elliot 4x10.
|
Nice. Not planning on using it on its lonesome are you?
|
Well no I can't just use a cab, I need amplification!
And probably, yeah a 410 is enough for me. |
I wouldn't trust a 410 to provide the full range of sound you'll want if you're not gonna have anything else with it. Unless it's an Acme or a Schroeder or something like that. If it's a company that builds their 410s to be paired with a 15/18 in another box, you could have problems. If you want a one cab set up with the best of both worlds I'd recommend a 212.
|
Yeah, I'm not a huge 12 fan, but I was going to try and find a 212 I liked. And I'd probably just get 2 410s or something rather than a 15. I don't like 15s.
Either way, better than what I use now haha. |
You should try them out man, I was never an advocate of them until I'd tried them, now I love them.
Back in my misguided youth I would sit around drawing an Ampeg full stack that I was dreaming of getting, 4x10, 1x18, some stupid Ampeg head. Would have cost easily over $10,000 and would have only been Ampeg at the end of the day, not to mention heavy and hard to transport. Then I ended up with an Aguilar head and this Epifani cab and I can literally carry my whole rig with me, comfortably one trip between the car and the venue every time (bass bag back-pack style, head slung over one shoulder, both hands free for the cab, though it's a cab you can comfortable carry one handed too). It's so sweet. |
Post you freaking dandies.
|
I need a van so I can have a devastatingly massive rig.
|
Haha yeah I was trying to sort out what car I'd get with the main feature of it being it would transport my rig then I just tthought, what the hell am I doing, I've urinated away more than enough money on music already before bringing motor vehicles into it.
General rule = motorvehicles, if present, exacerbate any situation to which they are not essential. IE: "This door is stuck!" "Hold on, I'll get my ute..." vs "Hey, let's drive a long way." "Hold on, I'll get my ute!" Bored. |
I have two bandmates who drive. Needless to say, my stuff goes in their cars ;)
So really, I want one of them to buy a van so I can have a devastatingly massive rig. |
Haha man, you've just gotta think in your head "I'm his girlfriend, and I want a van".
"Wouldn't it be cool if you got a van dude, think of how great it would be. You could spend more time in it with the people you like the most, and have room for all their nice things. I really think we need to buy a van." "We need to buy a van?" "Yes you need to buy a van." "I need to buy a van." "I love you." "...what?" By a quirk of spatial dynamics, the cars I have access too tend to fit my exact rig and nothing else. I've managed to fit an extra guitar amp / guitar / guitarist once but that was it. It's so hard to say "no sorry, my car only has room for exactly my gear and nothing more" without coming across like you're trying to be a jerk. Especially when part of you really wants to come across like you're being a jerk. |
