I decided to screw the metronome for now and buy the snare drum because that's cool and exciting, whereas i can just go to any music store and buy a metronome.

Do you have at metronome at the moment!? They're a vital tool and you must have one! It doesn't have to be uber expensive, as long as it keeps perfect time then its fine! |

Indeed. There's a good reason they use a click in 5 out of 9 classes at DrumTech. The ability to play with a click is a vital skill for any modern drummer, and even if you never play with a click live, paying with a click at various tempos helps develop your internal clock. I have a metronome. It cost £10. It gives me a tempo. It doesn't need to do anything else. |
I never felt the need for a metronome? I am planning on buying stick control after christmas and using it with a pad and metronome, but I feel I have very good time.

Its the perfect practice tool but I must say the only fault is that you can't program it to change tempos after so many bars which can be a little annoying when recording with my band. But, you get what you pay for! |
IT'S FUCKING FREEZING. =/
It's 15 out, 6 with the windchill, and my parents won't put the heat on! I'm shivering. =/. |

I naturally have good time as I found out when I got a metronome a few months into starting drums. Various guys who play drums have seen my metronome and been like "oh, one of these, eh?" They turn it on and can't even keep time for a whole bar. "Aww, its too slow for me" was the general reaction but unsurprisingly they still fail at faster tempos. Apparently this happens to alot of people 1st. They think they have good time until a metronome shows em up! :thumb: |
My brother put popcorn in the microwave for 5 mins instead of 2-3 and my house smells like burt shit. It's about 2 degrees outside and the doors and windows are open to try and get the smell out!

Thing is, I do have a metronome, bought it because of the praise they get on here, and used it and played just fine with it. |
When I was 8, I put a cookie in the microwave because I wanted it warm.
Instead of putting it in there for fifteen seconds, I put it in there for eight minutes. It was kind of like half-digested charcoal. |

Fair enough then, I guess I misinterpreted what you said! My band used to practice at a Youth Centre that had a kitchen etc. So my retard guitarist decides to heat a sausage roll in the microwave. He put it on for 45. We got practicing again. About 10 minutes later, we noticed how the hall had suddenly filled with smoke. We went into the kitchen to see a fire inside the microwave!!! It was the sausage roll that had been on full temperature for the past 15 minutes. "I only put it on for 45 seconds," says guitarist. Turns out he'd put the microwave on full power for 45 minutes rather than seconds :amaze: |
woohoo, 1000th post. Can you feel it? Dayum yo.

"A few years back, Tool was nominated for (and won!) a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance for "Ænema" and was nominated for Best Recording Package for "Ænima."
Well, it looks like history is repeating itself: this year Tool has been nominated for two Grammys. "Vicarious" is up for Best Hard Rock Performance (seems Tool isn't metal anymore ... whatever that means), against Nine Inch Nails, Buckcherry, Wolfmother, and System of a Down. Also, Adam (as art director) is nominated for Best Recording Package for the album "10,000 Days." Of course, if they win, we'll all applaud loudly. If they lose, well, I'm sure we'll all just say "the Grammys don't count for anything anyway." We're so clever." -Toolshed its so true... Even being complete retards they would have a tough time picking anything other then 10000 days for best recording package. That thing is awesome. |
Mad luv for tool.

Danny Carey is my hero... Well one of them haha

Is it Are or Is
I think its is because its a group. "The class is ahead" A group is singular But a lot of people say "[Band] are good" What is it? |
Tool are formulaic
They are also pretty sweet. |
This is weird.
Ever since we moved and got sattelite, my mother has been obsessed with Discovery Health and watching surgery. After I shower and before I go to bed, I usually sit there and watch TV with her. Generally, surgery is whats on. I used to repulsed by it. I would have to turn my head every time they showed the actual procedure. Now I watch it on my own, and I get a little excited when it comes time to see the organs. Woah. That James Kim guy was the guy from CNET I didn't like? Neat. |
Tool are formulaic
How so? |
How so?
Maybe because all the songs don't follow a formula, so the songs follow the formula of not following a formula? |
Hmmm, intruiging.
If anyone can write out a formula for Third Eye, I'll eat my djembe. |
Hmmm, intruiging.
If anyone can write out a formula for Third Eye, I'll eat my djembe.
Ok here it goes. I will number it for easy reading. 1. Droning ambient Comedian Section (IE every pop song ever) 2. Random noise on guitar section 3. Verse (More random ****) 4. Chorus (It sounds like sand and tribal drumming) 5. More random guitar noise 6. Verse (Something to do with a flower) 7. Chorus Eat up! :) |
Excuse me, you missed the crazy long scream, chakra references, nursery rhymes, and other lyrics that only four people understand.
(In other words, I don't want to eat my djembe, I bought it off a hippie in Kansas and it probably has termites) |

Third Eye is one of my favorite songs...
I know what it means to me. It's not that abstract of lyrics, there's a lot behind them. |
I know there's something behind them, but you can't say alot of people really get it. I know I probably don't get the whole thing, but I at least know the central message. Really great song though. Third Eye and Pushit are my two favorite Tool songs.
