I have about 87GB of music, I deleted a bunch, but I'd also say a good percentage of that is stuff I own and ripped myself.

TimJim 10-07-2009 04:04 PM

i own maybe 45% of what i have

Nepenthe 10-07-2009 04:07 PM

no porn on my comp either. why the **** would you download it when you can just stream it and not get viruses and ****? does anybody actually like to watch the same porn more than once?

Deth 10-07-2009 04:07 PM

I would call BS on that too timjim but idc enough to do the math

I used to own like 90% but haven't bought a CD in almost a year and bought maybe 10 the year before that. College finances yay. Not the entire reason obviously, but I miss buying music.

masscows 10-07-2009 04:09 PM

I buy like 1 CD a month. I maybe own like 1/3 of the music on my HD.

Carl Sagan 10-07-2009 04:09 PM

ripping music is stupid unless ur gonna burn it

Permanent Solution 10-07-2009 04:09 PM
80 is way too small. I've used 110GB of space on my main drive, and it's got nothing but my OS and program files.
I have several space hogs and I only use 40, what on earth do you have in there? =\
k just curious

lol @ nobody admitting they have a animal photographs collection

but yeah 99% of movies, tv, and games suck, etc.

you know the drill
It's miniscule by comparison. Most of it is deleted after d/ling due to boredom in repetition.

I only own about 1/4 but I buy a dozen CDs a month probs. I own over 500 CDs.

Deth 10-07-2009 04:11 PM

I'll admit to having a porn collection

Same here. I have tons of CDs that I still plan to buy sometime, but I never actually have enough money to spare.
Had to pay a €54 fine today and I'm already having trouble financing school.
ripping music is stupid unless ur gonna burn it
I always rip my CDs. Saves the work of having to get the CD and putting it in the disc drive everytime you want to listen to it.
either way 320kps>128kps
I honestly can't really tell the difference. I prefer the 128 rip because it's smaller.

masscows 10-07-2009 04:15 PM

yeah sometimes I listen to CD's in my room but I still have them all ripped on my computer cause that's where I do my gaming and foruming and whatnot

Deth 10-07-2009 04:15 PM

usually stick with 192 or 160 don't care too much, depends on the rip. If it sucks I'll find a different version, but the numbers don't bother me.
either way 320kps>128kps
just did the math because it was fun and you either suck at lying or math idk

256 VBR is ample unless you have $200+ headphones or $10000+ stereo.

Unless you use an mp3 player or like to scrobble etc.

Carl Sagan 10-07-2009 04:18 PM

or you like being a faggot

Dimmu Burger 10-07-2009 04:18 PM

Oh I forgot that one.

Tyler 10-07-2009 04:19 PM

I rip all my music in v0; best quality when it comes to efficiency.

I used to buy about 10 CDs a month, but I've only bought about six in the last two. But that doesn't count the hordes upon hordes of **** I get sent (and ultimately dont bother with).

Where do you find the time to listen to all that...

Deth 10-07-2009 04:21 PM

I would probably buy used CDs from the music store down the street from me but it's so unorganized that it's usually not worth the effort

Carl Sagan 10-07-2009 04:22 PM

buying music new and at full price is lame

You can scrobble if you play the CD in the same media player.

Yeah, roughly the same as me...mine might be ever so slightly higher bit rate.

Oh good so I'm not the only one who does that. Do they call you incessantly as well?

Tyler 10-07-2009 04:23 PM
Where do you find the time to listen to all that...
Ten CDs a month isn't a lot, really. That's about 8 hours of new music, spread out over a month, thrown in with my usual rotation of stuff.

I don't really have the time lately, though, which is why I havent been buying as much.
Do they call you incessantly as well?
No calls thankfully, I don't need to do much phone related stuff because I only do print and internet. I get a couple dozen press blasts every few days though.

Nepenthe 10-07-2009 04:27 PM

i bought a cd every week from about age 11 to 15. dont think ive bought one since.

Carl Sagan 10-07-2009 04:27 PM

ive gotten some free cds by saying i'd review them

just ate a huge bowl of mashed potatoes, my stomach is so satan right now

Deth 10-07-2009 04:27 PM

I was pretty similar but it was from the ages of like 14 to 18

Ugh, they all call every week trying to chat about all their new music that's coming out and what they want to get radio play and I'm like "idc, I play what I want." Except I don't say it out loud. I tend to just ignore the calls as best I can though.

Deth 10-07-2009 04:29 PM

You're right, though I don't feel like sifting through thousands of cds to find something, so I just rip it.

Carl Sagan 10-07-2009 04:34 PM

then you sift through thousands of folders

Dimmu Burger 10-07-2009 04:38 PM

Nah, just type in the first few letters of the band name and it comes up. =)

Carl Sagan 10-07-2009 04:39 PM

True, but when I discover a new band or album that I really like, I tend to listen to it a lot.
Plus, some albums just need a lot of listens to finally grow on you. I've had periods when I'd download so much music that I didn't even spend enough time to listen to it all.

Nepenthe 10-07-2009 04:42 PM

i always like to have way more stuff than ill ever have time to listen/play/watch

Jaundice 10-07-2009 04:43 PM

new thread title is jaundice-approved

Morumbar 10-07-2009 04:47 PM

If I have too much new music to listen to, I always rush through it to find something that really jumps at me and don't take the moment to appreciate what I'm listening to. Sometimes the things I rush through turn out to be the most amazing stuff when I give it another listen about half a year later. But I guess that's just me.
