Rocked out to Pinkerton driving back from work this evening. :)

meh..it was pretty good but I'm guessing there are better albums. What would you consider their best?
Perfect From Now On.

I'm digging Hot Cross.
The Magic Numbers - s/t
Scrawl - Velvet Hammer

Thinking of reviewing both.
How is the Magic Numbers?

Give me some similar bands.

I love it. I gave it 5/5 on RYM - only one of 4 post-2000 albums to get that distinction.

The Mamas & The Papas are the band they sound most like. Also, Prefab Sprout, The Meat Puppets (a little), The Lovin' Spoonful, The Flaming Lips, and The Beach Boys. Just really happy, poppy stuff, drenched in sunny boy-girl vocal harmonies.

Happymeal 07-09-2005 04:31 PM

Hot Water Music - A Flight and a Crash
Dresden Dolls - s/t
Cat Power - Moon Pix
Peccatum - Lost in Reverie

Some nice tunes right there.

The Residents. I think I'm finally getting into the Commercial Album. It's only been...9 months since I bought it?

I Was A Kaleidoscope 07-10-2005 08:00 AM

Take Me To Your Leader by King Geedorah, Death Cab, Xiu Xiu, Dosh, listened to 65daysofstatic for the first time - I liked them, Death From Above 1979 (wow, 2 bands with death in the name, they'll think I'm 'goth').

pixiesfanyo 07-10-2005 09:06 AM

Tom Waits - Real Gone
Queens of The Stone Age - Rated R

That album thrilled me immediately. Great bunch of songs.

I have a hard time getting into short songs usually. I don't think there is much that can be done in a minute and that was one of the reasons it's been very hard to me to get into this album. But I want to get more material by the Residents now that I've been able to get into this album.

Parfait 07-10-2005 12:53 PM

I love short songs.

Electrocution 07-10-2005 01:00 PM

Da Velvet Underground

Parfait 07-10-2005 02:52 PM

I'm listening to Bill Bruford's One of a Kind (for the first time in quite a while). I've always been fond of this album, despite its intense cheesiness.

That's how I felt until I heard Double Nickels On The Dime.

So far today I've been digging Hoggboy - Or 8.

To add to what else I have been liking I give you;

Amen to that.

Yeah their other albums aren't great and Gotham is okay. It's not blowing my mind in anyway but it's just a solid album.

Iai 07-10-2005 07:41 PM

The Filaments, Murphy's Law, The Exploited, US Bombs, and Deadline. Since I went to see them all today.

Agnostic Front also played, but they were pretty sucky.

Edit: By the way, I now have a claim to fame - I was at the last ever Filaments gig.
