Wow, I had no idea. A Latino in Colorado? Sounds very unlikely.

Fenders are overpriced, but so are Gibsons (which I have trouble dealing with, personally).
Actually there are tons. Especially in the city. Mind you my dad (who is the full Latino) is a college educated engineer working for Lockheed Martin, which is why we are there. Denver is one of Lockheed's centers.

I like Gibsons, but the only one I play frequently is my mom's 50 something year old acoustic which is lovely.

Illmatic 04-24-2005 10:51 PM

Well, classic rock and blues guys go for Fenders. I hate Gibsons, for the most part. They're designed more for looks.

Well, that's news to me. Call me racist/ignorant/whatever but I never expected that. I've seen so few Latinos in the Midwest.

Gibson acoustics are okay, but the Les Pauls and stuff are crap.

Kurtz 04-24-2005 10:53 PM
I hate fenders. They are really horrible for metal. Im more of an ESP, Ibanez, Gibson type.
Jacksons are great for metal too.

I was thinking of getting one sometime later on.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-24-2005 10:54 PM

I'm more of a 'I'll play what comes out of my fingers' kinda guitar player, rather than an Ibanez guy or whatever.

Permanent Solution 04-24-2005 10:54 PM

I have a Jackson and Ibanez electric, a Yamaha acoustic. They're all very good.

Apocalyptic Raids 04-24-2005 11:06 PM

I have a BC Rich Warlock. It's an electric and i seriously doubt BC Rich make acoustics

I want some EMG's in mine. Stock BC Rich pickups aren't very good at all.

I'm still not sure if I'm coming back next year so...I think that answers your question well enough eh?

Illmatic 04-25-2005 12:17 AM

Yeah, that more than answers it.

I dunno...this happened to me all the time in high school.

Ah...well I actually never had the problem in high school. You need a high school education for almost anything. But I burned myself out this year and I don't know why I'm here getting a degree for a job I probably won't like. I also haven't done too well in the college environment. Really more than anything this year has taught me that I can be good at things and still hate them, and school is seeming to be one of thise things.

This is my biggest issue: I'm going to be at uni for five years, since the teaching program has now become a five-year program here.

I have to go through all this extensive testing (I also have to write my own exams for both my major AND minor as part of my certification process... if they get denied, I'm screwed), take all these BS classes, student aid, student teach, etc... my parents and I are pumping all this money into my uni to become a teacher...

... only to have me earn about $25,000 a year for a job that I've learned isn't as fun as I thought it'd be. It's like, what's the point? :(

Illmatic 04-25-2005 12:27 AM

Well, I mean, I knew I had to graduate from high school, but I had a hard time motivating myself to do exceptionally well.

Well, the thing with me is, I have no idea what I'm doing or what I want to do. So I'm here doing oft-questionable work in college, and for what? I guess I'm just as a crossroads here.

Permanent Solution 04-25-2005 12:30 AM

Here's the thing. I know I catch on quickly and can do well at most any job I want to do, and I can do so without trying. I wouldn't be at college if I wasn't on full ride, I know that much, but wasting this opportunity while I have it is a little bit harder.

Illmatic 04-25-2005 12:37 AM

Well, I like being in college, so I'm going to stay. But what if I wind up being happiest in a job that requires no college education?

You're a slave to the money then you die.

Jom 04-25-2005 12:38 AM

What's your major now, anyway? Poli sci?

EDIT: Wait, nevermind... you said you were there for journalism, but you were saying that you wanted to go into politics instead.

Separate 04-25-2005 12:40 AM

I dont want to.

Yeah. As of right now I'm undeclared.
I think one huge upside to never getting married is I won't have someone depending on me when I decide to stop working at some crap job to make money.
My wife will have a job, as well.

I've decided that I'm only going to marry a woman who makes more money than I do. It's a failsafe plan.

Unless you're making under $30k a year it's not too failsafe as you'll be hardpressed to find one.

If I marry my current gf, I would be seriously wealthy. Her dad grew up so poor, but is now a doctor and pulls in a lot of green.

Riva 04-25-2005 12:53 AM

I have a goodly amount of time left, but I guess I am one of the few University students doing what I love, so I may actually be a lucky one. Pity it is so darn expensive. :(

Well, I plan on being employed. At a half-decent job.

But I'm going to have to let my magnetic charm seal the deal

ATM 04-25-2005 12:55 AM

If all else fails, I am going to live in a shack in the woods, grow weed, and carve guitars for a living.

Eh...I'm not too worried about money. If I have it I have it, if I don't I don't. I'm not going to do anything I don't want to to get it at this point. If that means being a bum then that's how it goes.

Riva 04-25-2005 01:09 AM

Get on MSN now, Jonny! It's an emergency!

I don't suppose anyone would have My Guardian Anger, or The Mother And The Enemy, by Lux Occulta? I'd be willing to swap another album for you. :)

Also, what is everyone's opinion on the greenhouse effect, and global warming?

Cain 04-25-2005 01:10 AM

I would like to be an author.

And when I say author, chances are what I really mean are "some dirty dude that lives in a room with a questionable water supply, writing 'life is like a thorny rose' and then crumpling up the paper over and over again."
