I doubt Roger and David will ever willingly come together on tour if it is purely monetary motivated.

skynyrd73 05-15-2005 12:01 PM
Nah man I just heard a quote from him saying he is friends with Nick again, but he said the other members and him don't have anything in common. He IS talking about a new solo album. Dave has said he really doesn't want to do any tour of any kind any more. And anybody who has a record that stays on the charts for 591 consecutive weeks is set for life.
Hes been spending his money like crazy, and its not for him, he wants to make it so that the next 5 generations never have to work again...all i can do is hope i guess....Floyd will never be the same without them ALL togeather, well besides Syd that is...i wonder how hes doing...

TheDMV 05-15-2005 12:07 PM

A Floyd reunion would most likely mark the greatest day of my life. I'm probably not the only one who feels this way.

Indeed man. I would seriously cry of happyness.

robo2448 05-15-2005 12:38 PM

i would dig deep into my life savings to see that concert.

slowhand 05-15-2005 01:33 PM

I think it was Mason who said that the only reason that all of them would play together again, is if it was for something greater. Something like Live-Aids, not because they want the money.

DeusExMachina 05-15-2005 02:23 PM
Ok I'm not making any promises but I am going to be at one of my friends houses with a good internet connection this weekend, so if I go on at his house I will try to upload it and thus make all of your lives compleate.
You are my god.

Edit (to avoid double posting): None of Pink Floyd is strapped for cash. And as it was said earlier, Gilmour doesn't want to tour. Although I've heard rumors of him going back to the studio to record another solo album. That would be awesome. I really want them to tour again, but I really think it's just a matter of time until the break-up becomes official.

My mom, dad, and sister are all huge Pink Floyd fans. But I'm the biggest fan in the family.

I'm downloading that Comfortably Numb video right now. Can't wait.

pigonthewing82 05-15-2005 07:30 PM
You are my god..
Sorry I couldn't do it this weekend, but you guys will have that one, and MANY more Pink Floyd bootlegs soon, I'll work on getting them uploaded before the summer.

Distant Echoes 05-15-2005 08:47 PM

I watched comfotably numb earlier today. I couldnt find it so i had realone serch my music folder...mustve been hidden or something, but it was defintaly worthit.

I got atom heart mother too...it was good. i dont know why people were saying it couldnt compare to thier other material.

ArtificialLife 05-16-2005 10:03 AM

I saw The Machine for the second time on friday. wow. awsome. The played dogs and echoes friggin amazingly. plus they threw a lengthy bass solo into one of these days. only dissapointment was they left out pigs, guess it didn't get enough votes.

BigTrav415 05-16-2005 03:11 PM

I'm glad so many people agree with me about dances, any music that they've never heard before is considered complete ****. I was seriously considering playing both Run Like Hell and Comfortably Numb, but as I said earlier the bitches at my scool can't live without their mainstream bull**** hip-hop. They played that ****ing gwen stefani song "holla back girl" or something TWICE. Jesus, I hate people! Actually, the person organizing the dance put a sheet in some class where you put songs you wanted, but all the songs I put got marked over and someone wrote "Rock sux". I'm not kidding. WYWH is aout the most traditional sounding PF song, so it worked pretty good as a finale. Oh yeah, and my friend was begging me to play Another Brick pt. 2, but that would incite riot.

skynyrd73 05-16-2005 05:43 PM

Riots, got to love them, But, I hate how people think they know pink floyd because they here "We dont need no education" ( i guess they dont realize its about a private bording school), it just gets me agrivated, " Woh, ive heard the that Floyd thing..."we dont need education", thats good stuff man"...grr just gets me angry...

BigTrav415 05-16-2005 09:00 PM

Yeah the dude I was talking about only knew that song for a while, but I got him to buy The Wall and DSotM, so now he's a real fan (somewhat) I'm still trying to get him to buy Animals and WYWH, but w/e. And about the riots, I was referring to the fact that people would riot to the sound system so they could put it on "holla back girl" or "1 2 step" or whatever the hell they listen to these days.

Another Brick In The Wall -- Probally the most misunderstood song.. ever.

"It's not an anti-education song, it's an anti-****ty teachers song" says Nick Mason.

Still, is pretty much a song that covers what every kid feels and wants the world to know.

Thats becasue every kid dreams of being a "Rebel", i mean comon, if you actualy listen to the entire song, it never talks about the public school kids, and as before, its about "crapy" teachers, and about the riots, i got what you mean, im not saying that "rap" riots you got to love, im just saying, personaly i love riots! (G&R!!)....

BludgeonySteve 05-17-2005 06:15 PM

Yeah. Everyone likes it because they think it says school=teh suk. But it's really just about teachers that are teh suk, not school in general.

TheDMV 05-17-2005 06:24 PM
Yeah. Everyone likes it because they think it says school=teh suk. But it's really just about teachers that are teh suk, not school in general.
I'm sure some people feel that way, I just like because it is a ridiculously catchy song.

lunch998 05-17-2005 06:28 PM

The song has a better meaning in context of The Wall as an album. Rather than just a rebellious kid, it represents literally more bricks in the wall. It's a key song in developing the plot rather than being something with mass apeal to school kids.

BigTrav415 05-17-2005 06:31 PM

BTW, I've decided that the guitar riff at the end of Sheep is officially the greatest riff of all time. Pretty much anything Pink Floyd is the greatest of all time, come to think about it. Including greatest amount of dysfunction. Seriously, can you think of another band that dysfunctional? (except maybe for that band Mayhem, where one of the members killed himself and the other guys found him and ate his brains out of his skull...)

pigonthewing82 05-17-2005 06:32 PM

Actually for me I like the rebellion against school in the album. Of course he doesn't mean that we don't need no education. Its more about revolution about the powers that be, and the first one you get is school (well parents, but thats covered in Mother).

Go watch the documentary Dig on the Brian Jonestown Massacre if you want to see a dysfunctional band (though still amazingly great).

I think I might agree.

TheDMV 05-17-2005 06:35 PM

While we are talking about the Wall, am I the only one who prefers it to DSotM? I just mentioned this in CR but I'll take song quality over flow any day. Not to say that Dark Side doesn't have amazing songs, but the Wall is a little more consistent IMO. Maybe it'd because it has many. many more songs. I don't know, I guess it's just me.

lunch998 05-17-2005 06:37 PM

I think a lot of fans prefer The Wall more. But I think The Wall focused just as much (if not more) on flow as Dark Side did. Dark Side has arguably no weak tracks, while The Wall certainly has some.

TheDMV 05-17-2005 06:41 PM

I would say some of the instrumentals on DSotM are weak. They have little musical appeal at parts IMO. Sometimes it's just sound effects and buzz or whatever.

lunch998 05-17-2005 06:42 PM

On The Wall or Dark Side?

TheDMV 05-17-2005 06:42 PM

My fault, Dark Side.

BigTrav415 05-17-2005 06:44 PM

I sort of agree with you, but DSotM holds a special place in my heart for introducing me to PF. But I still think both albums are in the Top 4 albums of all time, along with Animals and WYWH.

/PF fanboy

BigTrav415 05-17-2005 06:56 PM

I just downloaded a 1972 live DSotM on Limewire, listening to Breathe right now, sounds completely different than the studio version, but not in a bad way. Pretty crazy.

EDIT: On The Run sounds completely different, they're using guitars and drums, very few effects. It hardly sounds like it at all; I'm only assuming it's On the Run actually, can't tell except from placement.
